The problem isn't the innate qualities of the material so much as it is "making something cheap and low-quality means it doesn't last very long". Most disposable chopsticks are made out of bamboo, but bamboo isn't like... an inherently shitty material to make things out of. The bigger problem is the consumer culture of making disposable chopsticks on a large scale, i.e. cheap restaurants.

I literally just spent like 10 minutes reading up on this because I thought the same thing, but apparently only about half of disposable chopsticks are made of bamboo! Also the way they bleach the wood appears to be a big part of the problem.

I was suddenly reminded of a memory from a few years ago when I worked at a B&N cafe. A woman came in and started grilling us baristas on why we used disposable forks and plates, and it was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Wasting the time of some 'lowly employees' who have no control over company decisions like that was completely pointless.

The toothbrush thing should be advertised with like, people with disabilities, since they could really use this if they have difficulties with squeezing tooth paste out/hold the tooth paste and brush up for a long time. But it's too expensive to really be for them :')
Maybe that was the original intention? Lots of “lazy“ products were meant to be used by people with disabilities
Regardless it makes the toothbrush heavier and more difficult to hold so even then I'm not sure it would work that well

*THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS* It's not as simple as using reusable chopsticks. What is the carbon footprint of the factory that makes them? What about all of the tech, tools, and accessories that are being used by employees? Are they also using items from low carbon footprint/recycling companies?
The process of actually trying to make a good impact on the Earth is very complicated. Just buying these will make the buyer feel good about themselves, and that's it.
And for some reason they picked titanium, which has a high environmental impact, and is hard to recycle. And for no reason other than scamming people on kickstarter.

Renewable tree farms are a thing and considering the energy cost to run a factory you’d probably have to use those chopsticks 1000s of times to make up for the amount of pollution they cost to make. Not to mention you’d have to get the metal by mining for it which is definitely not great for the environment.

Well, I don’t actually know but I suspect it started out of necessity due to a lack of other eating utensils available at the time and after a slight learning curve they figured out that it would suffice and even had its pros.
According to the Townsends channel, people in the US used to eat with a butter knife so... it’s not that far off.

Fun fact, tech like that has existed for years. An ex-friend of mine showed me somethinglike it in 5th grade. It was cat ears the moved based on the electrical signals it detected from your head via a sensor.

You could argue that the toothbrush would be a good tool for some disabled people, but it's expensive and I'm pretty sure you still have to fill it yourself? So maybe not.
It might be good if you take care of a disabled person and have to brush their teeth for them, but they make these weird little mouth swab thingys for that. I think you can get a large, multi-count box of them for way less than that toothbrush.

Dentist actually recommended changing your toothbrush once in several months so instead of buying electric toothbrush you're better off buying disposable toothbrush
