I’ve been training in Taekwondo for over a decade and instructing for multiple years. I compete nationally in demonstration team competitions. I can tell you from experience that this is a flashy and impressive “looking” break, but not difficult. This appears to be a small demonstration for this guys students so the point is not to test the strength and skill, but to entertain
Why so many negative comments? , this is an impressive set of breaks. If any one thinks its easy they should try it. The breaks are made using focus and speed plus the short board make it harder not easier. The 14 year old who commented ,worries me ,as most of the real Tae Kwon Do associations do not allow juniors to break with their hands due to causing long term damage while the hand are still developing. Nearly for forgot to say, I am an International Tae Kwon Do black belt and instructor and part of what is to respect other forms of TKD and martial arts.
MTB Kings I'm in MMA and im a black belt and I gotta break boards and its a lot harder than it looks cause it takes like 500 pounds of force just to break 1 or 2 so imagine 6
there are no "effective" martial arts. there are only good or bad martial artists. And you probably dont even know what is a martial art so i guess there is no point explaing;)
Wow.... to your instructors, way to teach that person such focus and skill... may I ask of your elders to qualify you the board breaker to be accepted of entering a kumite??? If your elder instructors will by my asking compete as opponents against you but like Senzo Tanana Was to Frank Dux... Please..... aso....
There is a trick to this. You notice how there's a gap on the top board to the next. So when you split the first the energy travels directly down the chain. Where as if it were touching I doubt he could do it. Some board also have small cuts in the center for demonstration purposes
Look... I hate to be that guy but I have to know. Back when I did Karate, the boards they had were the kind where it was especially weak and practically already fractured in the middle. I want to believe the vid... but those wood boards back in karate make me think other wise.
RSSpeacemaker I believe he could have done it if he had the right technique, but the boards look really thin to be honest, either way you're right seems unbelievable tbh. I've broke 5 boards seperatly with my fist, and knife hand, and my fist started to hurt. (Me, and my uncle bought the boards at a actual store) I do take Karate, but they don't allow lower belts to do anything like that, so we did it on our own, he had previously took taekwondo under my grandfather who also used real boards. But maybe doing it the way he did it it's possible. (Honestly Doubt so)
Yeah I definitely agree. I just kinda sorta don't think this is completely accurate. God it drove me crazy when they gave me half broken boards back in Tae Dwon Do and Karate.
Haha, yeah me and my uncle like I said I think, we actually went to the hardware store or whatever you wanna call it and bought some boards. So they were real 1" boards, at least I think that's the width of the boards, but yeah after about 3 with my breaking it with my fist, and two knife hands, my hand was pretty sore haha.
I am not native English speaker (I am not even sure how its called in my own language :D) so I really dont know. From google images I dont think chipboard is what I mean (also chipboard is pretty tough and also does not break in a clear cut). But its a similar thing but from larger rectangular pieces of wood glued together. I guess boards in the video are made from something like this (basically glued wooden boards): www.pl.all.biz/img/pl/catalog/130667.jpeg
It's not amazing. It's trickery. He used spacers between the boards and then used his body weight to break these thin boards. He couldn't do it without the spacers or falling on them!
Kim Huong Tran, the guy used spacers (or chopsticks) between the boards to make this easier. It's not really difficult if you fake it with spacers. I don't use spacers.

MTB Kings I'm in MMA and im a black belt and I gotta break boards and its a lot harder than it looks cause it takes like 500 pounds of force just to break 1 or 2 so imagine 6

Looks like an effective martial art if you're ever attacked by a lumber yard and are without a saw.
+espada9 LOL
there are no "effective" martial arts. there are only good or bad martial artists. And you probably dont even know what is a martial art so i guess there is no point explaing;)

Good job
Do you have to do that when your a black belt cuss I want to get in taekwondo

@MusicisMYlife210 and you can do this?
Why is the breaking sounds coming way after you hit it
Look... I hate to be that guy but I have to know. Back when I did Karate, the boards they had were the kind where it was especially weak and practically already fractured in the middle. I want to believe the vid... but those wood boards back in karate make me think other wise.

God that sounds pretty painful XD
RSSpeacemaker they leave em cracked for noobs, in my tkd competitions they werent cracked and were pretty rough
Boards, don't hit back. Wataaaa!
Its interesting that all the boards break in a clean cut.... ordinary wood doesnt break like that...
they're already slightly fractured in the middle
It's surely not a solid block of wood. I think the boards are made from those glued wood chuncks (not sure how its called) used for floors etc.
You mean chipboard? I'm not an expert but I don't think they're chipboard. They are probably wood with a thin cut down the middle.
I am not native English speaker (I am not even sure how its called in my own language :D) so I really dont know. TheVortex, the break by the guy jumping on the boards was lame and easy with spacers between them.
He means business
I can break wind!
Omg
He's a savage
yea, if there are spacers, then the amount doesn't matter, its just the mentality
You got splinters?
Kim Huong Tran, the guy used spacers (or chopsticks) between the boards to make this easier. It's not really difficult if you fake it with spacers. I don't use spacers.
