Diabetes Island may be a bit far fetch; but he is correct on one thing. Your surrounding environment and life style does play a big role onto your chances of developing diabetes. Your genetics, diet, environment, etc does play a role on you having diabetes or not. I am borderline diabetic and my doctor keeps telling me am I under any stress? Welp in my city we have bad drivers, bad crimes, bad everything. On top of that the air quality in my city is the #15 worst in my entire state. I don't eat as much of bad junk food, non-smoker, non-alcoholic drinker; and yet my doctor doesn't know what's causing it other than me being a bit overweight/family history of illnesses. What does stress/chemical exposure has to do with diabetes? It means that your body cannot function at 100 percent capacity to rid the extra sugar/toxins/bad stuff in your body if you have extra stress on your entire body.

No you see he was an iron worker, working in a ship yard when his boss calls and says, Eric you've gotta help with clean up after 9/11. At that time his wife was massive and suicidal. Then she goes into a coma and his boss says, Eric you've gotta go do iron work in Greece. So he goes there and after a few weeks gets the magic recipe. Meanwhile only 30 minutes have passed in new york and he makes it back just in time to put some salad dressing in his comatose wife's mouth and she wakes up and starts losing weight immediately. And they both live happily ever after.

Nope, it was diabetic ketoacidosis, a real surprise for a guy who was 6 feet tall and 155 pounds. He spent a few days in the ICU getting his body stabilized. The lesson here, folks, is to be aware of the signs of diabetes and get a regular health checkup, because even a nominally healthy looking guy can have his pancreas go bust on him.

    Big fan here, Coffeezilla.
Important note: there's type 1 and 2 diabetes, both very different diseases.
My 6 yo son has Type 1. It means his immune system attacked his own pancreas so his body no longer produces insulin.
Type 1 has nothing to do with diet or exercise. It's an auto immune disorder.
Most people refer to Type 2 when they talk about diabetes and people not eating right.
It's very important to differentiate between the two types.
Unlike Type 2, no amount of healthy eating will make people with Type 1 produce their own insulin. They need insulin shots several times a day.
Up until science finds a cure...

indeed...But it is only in the US that people talk about DIABETES as if it was 1 thing... I am type 1 (been for 23 years now) … For a type 1 , exercising and better diet help slow the deterioration of your other organs (which is inevitable when you have type 1)… On the other side , type 2 people brought it on themselves , let me explain , DIABETIC type 2 are people whose system just gave up because they were feeding themselves not properly , they have an insulin resistance (to some level)…Which means that those people have to correct their food habit so their body need less insulin , TADAH , y'all welcome :)

I had health problems when I was a teenager and was in danger of getting diabetes - the real solution to your problems is just educating yourself on how nutrition works, how you lose and maintain weight and exercising regularly at your own pace. The problem with all those things is that it's hard to get into a healthier habit if you start out it a bad place but in the end it's far more cost effective than getting ripped off by scammers.

At that age, you feel indestructible. And probably are. I remember I was a pig back then: junk food, too much alcohol, irregular sleeping pattern, and a sedentary lifestyle. But apart from being overweight, never had any health problems.
Fast-forward to my 30'th birthday, and suddenly I develop hay fever. Fast-forward to my 40'th, and now I require glasses and develop diabetes. I'll be 50 in 4 years. Not sure which part of my body will break down then, but I'm not looking forward to it, let me tell you! 😂

@NRG Coke isn't made with sugar in the US. But if it was, I'm saying we would quit drinking Coke and start putting olive oil in our food. And olive oil would be cheap because we'd subsidize it the way we used to subsidize sugar.

How about the rapid growth in unhealthy food from 40s-50s to this day, lot of sugar and fat in the food etc. Back in the days when people lived in villages and work on the land they were fit and didn't had junk food, seeing somebody with average height and 200lbs was rare.

Fat is healthy, because it make you feel satisfied for a long time for hours, so you don't run every two hours to the fridge and keep on snacking, so you eat less, in the seventies when they came with the low fat shit BS, and put sugars in everything that's when they fucked us up, eat healthy wholefood fat, and eat healthy wholefood carbs, and exercice every other day, and take a walk every other day, sleep 8 hours and you will be fine

Uhhh tbh I think it's more related to the fact that people would die without knowing the cause so statistics don't really exist from back then, since type 1 diabetes is fatal without insulin and type 2 diabetes is not only caused by food but it's mostly genetic (you might be overweigh and not have it if your family doesn't even though you have higher risk and if it appears it might be sooner) and could be fatal or make you loose a body part. Type 2 diabetes has spicked in recent years because of bad eating habits but I think that there is also a lot more information now that has saved a lot of lives.

    • @alexyssaubrie1606
      @alexyssaubrie1606 Před 2 lety +1

@@2000mar25 Other countries know about diabetes and have significantly less cases than America. It is definitely related to the food of America.. The 1950's happened right after the war, so people had spending money again. Families were eating dinner together again. Microwaves, supermarkets, fast food were all invented during this time. Overweight people are more likely to have overweight children because they feed them the same as them. That's why it's genetic. You can reverse type 2 diabetes by eating better, so it's mostly food.
