Congrats on your videos; watched a slew today and quite enjoyed them. The fact you counterbalance the pros with the cons and are willing to recommend lower priced goods over some of the higher priced counterparts really helps with the credibility. I also like the mild-mannered presentation style...some of the motorcycle gear review guys are intense! Thanks!
Always entertaining reviews, Thanks Ryan. The 2nd shoe, the black dress one, I prefer the side zipper style boots for the same reasons you dislike them. I set my laces at a comfy fit, and then slip my boots on and off with quick ease using the side zip. Gives me the "look" and fit of a dressier shoe, but more convenience.
Most are still on sale and some have updates too like the newer faster-3 which comes in regular, drystar and rideknit versions. Women's became it's own product, the stella.
Recently wiped out on my motorcycle wearing my Alipinestars Parlor; and one of my legs were pinned under the bike. I would've suffered more injuries if not for the fact that the boot took on the weight of the bike. While some may sneer at the limited protection of the Parlor, but it did the job.
I have the Faster 2 shoes myself, I can't say I really noticed them being tight though, my biggest gripe is I think the laces should go right up to the top of the shoe, not only to hold the laces in places to make sure they never get wrapped around a peg or something, but also the tops can sometimes feel very loose. I do like them though and sometimes even wear them with jeans when not on the bike. Mine are the more plain black style with white highlights, so not quite as 'loud' as white and red :)
Thanks for including the Kathmandu Lo Boots on this list. I was looking for a boot that I could commute in but hit the trail at a moments notice. Unfortunately, there aren't many reviews for that particular boot yet, so seeing this made my day. Thanks!
I don't understand why you don't put the smx-3 instead of the 2. Your complaint that its too high is pretty minor. I found walking in mine extremely comfortable, and on top of that the higher front that seems to be such a deal-breaker for you is actually a benefit not only in terms of protection, but it also helps keep the boot dryer when worn under overpants. In my opinion the 3 looks cooler, is safer, still very walk-able, and even has a sweet adjustable ski bootesque fastener making it more tailored to the rider and thus even more comfortable, and safer because a boot that comes flying off in a crash is useless.
Typing this in July 2019. I have a pair of Forma, Soul (black) and I've been riding in them for 3 seasons now. Still waterproof. Super confy, they look just like regular leather high tops AND, they have a waterproof zipper for easy entry and exit. I highly recommend them. Now, if only www.fortnine.ca would carry Forma boots...
Leather high top laced boots, steel toes, steel arch support, and thick anti-skid soles are safer. I wore them all day at work as a lineman for years and wear them whenever I ride. Sorry Ryan, but those booties just don't cut it. Love your videos..........most of the time.
Have been riding with the Alpinestars Parlor for almost a year now; and it is still one of the best and most practical motorcycle boots for normal commuting use. No need to change boots when you get into the office and the waterproofing comes in handy too. I have to highlight though that the waterproof doesn't cover the full height of the boot; and it can get wet if water splashes high enough. But all in all, a great product from Alpinestars
Hey Ryan greeting from London, this is my first ever CZcams comment! I just want to say I really like all your videos. you are very informative. keep up the good work
Gaerne's Black Rose ladies motorcycle boots are very very comfy, I wear em all year even at winter as my 3rd pair of boots in quite deep snow. And I'ma boy! ;D
Feet are not same around the world! At least in Finland (probably in all nordic countries) feet are lot wider than in other parts of Europe. It is totally impossible for most Finns to try to wear shoes from Europe. Anything from Italy is most likely too narrow, also everything from Puma etc.
My only problem with buying motorcycle shoes, is that there is only one company that makes a shoe my size, and that’s Thor. Would really like to see more shoes like there are in this video that go for the bigger footed gentlemen.
Altberg all the way. Riding a bike in a suit, the very thought. Almost every shoe reviewed here is for dancing Even the smx is an Achilles nightmare.. Next review please....water resistant bow ties.
I would recommend the kd trey iv they are lighter and cheaper and have thick rubber on the sole they do not have anke support but better than spending money on these shoes
Ive got the 1st gen A-stars faster shoe, and they feel great, but as you said, seems that both versions share the same very narrow tow space, too narrow for my hobbit feet. :(
Před 3 lety
You know what? Anybody talks about Forma boots, they are very good.
Those Alpinestars Parlor Boots would be perfect if they didn't have the laces. I hate laces. Although there are a few options out there to eliminate laces like Hickies and other products.
can't wait for the commuter/touring boot/shoes episode for 2017. I do want riding shoes for their comfort and ability to walk around after the ride, but I *really* wish I had waterproofness. so far A-Star Roam 2 is competing with SMX-2 ....
TCX does waterproof riding shoes better than most. X-Street, Street Ace, X-Wave... lots of options. Since you mentioned Roam 2s and the walk-ability of a riding shoe, you might be interested in this (fortnine.ca/en/alpinestars-new-land-gtx-boots). It's like a shorty version of the Roam 2, plus Gore-Tex :) ~RyanF9
FortNine you reviewed this last year. When I saw it I was excited until I saw the price tag. I really want to stay on budget. thanks for the recommendations
Hi Fortnite can you make a video that talks about which bikes are best for beginners? (Preferably city bikes who go up against traffic and is usually used during everyday living like going to work and social events and the like, which still very much stylish , powerful but easy to use)
Hi, can you recommend a boots/shoes (or a brand) with pretty wide toeboxes? I have problems finding the correct shoe (fe. Alpinestars is too narrow in the front for me). Keep it up, fantastic videos!
given the smx 2 is discontinued, would you still opt for the smx3 or smx6 v2, for everyday street riding and twisties. the occasional agressive riding also to be kept in mind.
wait you didn't take your shoes off because they where that good or because you didn't have other boots?BTW the lace up is more for looks who really wants to constantly untie there boots then lace them back up I prefer the look of lace yet the ease of a side entrance via zippers.
Hey. .. I've been looking for casual riding shoes / sneaker and narrowed down to TCX Street Ace or the Dainese Street Rocker - both i waterproof. I wondered if you have an opinion either way of which is better? (Noted the cost difference but with discounts i've found the price is closer than standard RRP) - thanks
Is hiking or walking around for an afternoon after you've gotten to your destination doable in the SMX Alpinestars boot line? Or meant for on-bike activities only?
Do the Parlor come with a external shifter panel? They look beautifull but won't they get scuffed up after one ride rendering them pretty much useless as neat shoes?
I use a neoprene shift lever boot protector. It last a fair amount of time, and prevents the shift lever from damaging your riding gear. The added benefit, is you don't have to put on a boot protector directly on to your boot... SO no having to remove it when walking around.
so i have a question can you do a vid on safety gear for the big framed guys as i am having some troubles finding gear as i am in a weist 52 inc and a 4 xxxl jacket
if i want something more casual than the smx 2, but more protection than the AS Faster, would you recommend the SMX1? or is it too much of a compromise in either direction?
Is like to get people's opinion on this: I was thinking about getting some Nike Air Force 1 high tops for riding (covers the ankle, all leather shoe). Obviously they are not meant for riding, but wouldn't they give most of the protection other than "crush" protection? I need help from someone who might be a little more informed than I lol
I see that there's the x-groove model too... I'm wondering what the difference is between the wave ? Perhaps you could go over each of the models in one video and compare ?
Congrats on your videos; watched a slew today and quite enjoyed them. one of the best motorcycle channels on CZcams

Hey Ryan..is there a 2019 update of this and the other list planned ? you know...new gear and shizzle ;)
You see it ain't helmets sooo, most of the list is still usable. I think that I can even get the smx ones here in the EU too.
Most are still on sale and some have updates too like the newer faster-3 which comes in regular, drystar and rideknit versions. Women's became it's own product, the stella.
Or a 2020 version
How about 2021!
Let’s go 2022!
Recently wiped out on my motorcycle wearing my Alipinestars Parlor; and one of my legs were pinned under the bike. I would've suffered more injuries if not for the fact that the boot took on the weight of the bike. While some may sneer at the limited protection of the Parlor, but it did the job.
Kind of a nerd but damn he can make a video. I could watch him evaluating pens and erasers and he would still be able to keep me interested.

Please do a 2021 version! Luv ur videos man :)
I love the cheesy camera click sound fx... keep up the food job RyanF9
Those Alpinestars look incredibly good for what they are
Thanks for including the Kathmandu Lo Boots on this list. I was looking for a boot that I could commute in but hit the trail at a moments notice. Unfortunately, there aren't many reviews for that particular boot yet, so seeing this made my day. Thanks!
Great review Ryan! I'm half tempted to buy the TCX just for a daily street shoe, they look damn good.
that colour of the faster 2 looks like a bowling shoe
"Hello, I'm ryanF9" - all you need for a beginning of an awesome video. Informative as always.
I have the TCX X-Street WP and I really love them, they are just a bit to stiff too walk in for a long time. Other than that they are really great.
I don't understand why you don't put the smx-3 instead of the 2. Your complaint that its too high is pretty minor. I still love my Alpinestar Tech 2 boots! Best $60 I've ever spent on great 😀 Great video, have a great day Fortnine team!
Id love to see you eventually review the Roame Zeros
You should deliver to the US. Wish I could buy from your site.
Hey thanks Luke! Maybe one day :) ~RF9
I agree with Luke. I enjoy watching your videos and respect your opinions. Therefore I would happily buy gear from you guys if it was possible.
Y'all have RevZilla hahah
Hey Ryan, great video. Big fan of all your work. Can you list the prices of item you review in the description in your future videos? Thanks!
Leather high top laced boots, steel toes, steel arch support, and thick anti-skid soles are safer. I wore them all day at work as a lineman for years and wear them whenever I ride. Sorry Ryan, but those booties just don't cut it. Love your videos..........most of the time.
Love your review. I can keep on watching. So informative and real
So damn early, 4th like. Love this channel Ryan! Love from Nepal!
Apurva Thapa cheers bro😊
Happy you're here bro :)

Hey Ryan greeting from London, this is my first ever CZcams comment! I just want to say I really like all your videos. you are very informative. keep up the good work
Your in-depth knowledge and articulate presentation is most impressive. You are truly a gifted individual!
what's the difference between the SMX 1R, 2, and 3...?
could you make a complete gear Haul for 500€ please
Shot a video just like that last week... should be released soon-ish. ~RyanF9
nice
Awesome!
Just bought some tcx-x street air for Texas summer.
I wear a bitwell gringo S lid. I am waiting to see your torture test!
Sweet! Torture test on the Gringo comes out today... ~RyanF9
David McPeters I'd buy another helmet after seeing that Biltwell Gringo video. or just don't crash. lol
I've owned the SMX for a couple years. good boot.
Gaerne's Black Rose ladies motorcycle boots are very very comfy, I wear em all year even at winter as my 3rd pair of boots in quite deep snow.
And I'ma boy! ;D

I have "wide feet " and I wear pumas. .
A few last videos a BMW stands behind you. Do you still own a V-Strom?
Yep! V-Strom is safely tucked away in the garage. ~RyanF9

catch a lace loop on a foot peg and topple....been there done that in my own driveway...in front of my family and neighbors..
Altberg all the way. Riding a bike in a suit, the very thought. Almost every shoe reviewed here is for dancing Even the smx is an Achilles nightmare.. Next review please....water resistant bow ties.
bring on some more adv boots... maybe a video of only adv boots comparing 5 or 6 good ones that work well on and off bike
I have the SMX 3 and it is great except it needs a loop on the back for ease of putting it on.
I would recommend the kd trey iv they are lighter and cheaper and have thick rubber on the sole they do not have anke support but better than spending money on these shoes
TCX X square sport shoes all the way!
It will be cool to see a 20/21 update
That review room feels like home to me somehow at this point lol.
I need those Astars Parlour for the DGR.
Well done sir ! Thank you for these reviews!
HI F9 IM Your Fan Because You Give Genuine Reviews. 😊
Forma adventure low. simply amazing.
what about the alpine stars SMX-1R?
Ive got the 1st gen A-stars faster shoe, and they feel great, but as you said, seems that both versions share the same very narrow tow space, too narrow for my hobbit feet. :(
You know what? Anybody talks about Forma boots, they are very good.
The SMX-2 boots are difficult to find online now, at least in 45 EUR.
Those Alpinestars Parlor Boots would be perfect if they didn't have the laces. I hate laces. Although there are a few options out there to eliminate laces like Hickies and other products.

You don't mention Daytona Boots. I would like to see you review them!
Прикольно снял 👍🏼
Hi, can you recommend a boots/shoes (or a brand) with pretty wide toeboxes? I have problems finding the correct shoe (fe. Alpinestars is too narrow in the front for me).
Keep it up, fantastic videos!
Hey! Icon boots have always seemed pretty wide to me. ~RF9

I bought a few weeks ago blauer sneakers, enough room in this shoe. Maybe you like it to, I am although very content with it, greets Alexander
Great video.....Subscribed!!
I actually saw a guy riding his bike with flip flops and socks I was like wtf!😲😂
Alpine red white black shoes look like bowling shoes.
given the smx 2 is discontinued, would you still opt for the smx3 or smx6 v2, for everyday street riding and twisties. the occasional agressive riding also to be kept in mind.
Have you tried the dainese airs? If so those vs x-waves?? Great vid too!!

Have you ever taken a look at RS Taichi's gear. Any opinions on them?
That A-star shoe looks like bowling shoes in jeans.
Please review Forma boots!
Hey. .. I've been looking for casual riding shoes / sneaker and narrowed down to TCX Street Ace or the Dainese Street Rocker - both i waterproof. I wondered if you have an opinion either way of which is better? (Noted the cost difference but with discounts i've found the price is closer than standard RRP) - thanks
i have a serious question... which shoe is better?
the Tcx Street or the Alpinestars joey... both look very similar :)
Is hiking or walking around for an afternoon after you've gotten to your destination doable in the SMX Alpinestars boot line? Or meant for on-bike activities only?
3 Shoes are just bad ass. I don't own a bike and I want em
Do the Parlor come with a external shifter panel? They look beautifull but won't they get scuffed up after one ride rendering them pretty much useless as neat shoes?
They do not. And you're right - scuffing is inevitable with that boot. Keep your shoe polish close. ~RyanF9
I use a neoprene shift lever boot protector. It last a fair amount of time, and prevents the shift lever from damaging your riding gear. The added benefit, is you don't have to put on a boot protector directly on to your boot... SO no having to remove it when walking around.
Can you Review the Dainese STREET DARKER GTX? Thanks
Not having ankle armor is a deal killer.
so i have a question can you do a vid on safety gear for the big framed guys as i am having some troubles finding gear as i am in a weist 52 inc and a 4 xxxl jacket
Tha alpinestars boot looks like a ten pin bowling shoe
if i want something more casual than the smx 2, but more protection than the AS Faster, would you recommend the SMX1? or is it too much of a compromise in either direction?
do a review of your BMW g310 GS please
it's not a g310 GS.
Mine is an F800 GSA. *But*, coincidentally, we're planning to review both the F800 and the G310 this year :) ~RyanF9
Yey! Can't wait!
Has anybody heard of the Roame Zeroes? Integrated brake and turn signals in the sole of the shoe
Kris Johnson yea. I use kickstarter often. they look tempting, but I would rather wait on a reviews and see how reliable the light display is
Ryan Nussear I honestly can't wait to get mine, they said they should be shipping out end of February to early march
do a video for riding hoodie
Is like to get people's opinion on this: I was thinking about getting some Nike Air Force 1 high tops for riding (covers the ankle, all leather shoe). Obviously they are not meant for riding, but wouldn't they give most of the protection other than "crush" protection? I need help from someone who might be a little more informed than I lol
i see that the xwave are discontinued now. Any updates on what the next gen is going to be made available ?
I see that there's the x-groove model too... I'm wondering what the difference is between the wave ? Perhaps you could go over each of the models in one video and compare ?
AStars, bring back the SMX-2, please ... !!!!?! 😏
The New Land GTX seems better than the similar S-MX 2.
hey Ryan, will you be comparing leg bags any soon?
aaaaaaaand the SMX-2 has been discontinued with only euro size 38/39 still in stock anywhere
2019 update when
2022 updateeee
the shifter mark is a sign of a higher existence
What do you think of the older TCX x-square evo?
Alpinestars Faster 2 waterproof FTW
Gianni Falco Maxx is the best riding shoe on the planet.
That's it
4:44 landed you a sub *lol* !!
No Daytonas ? IMHO one of the best
how come stylmartinnever get a mention, i think they look far better than TCX shoes
Reviewed S-MX 2 but linked to S-MX 3?
The first shoe was my favorite. It's not too ugly at all. But the other ones were just...let's just call it unattractive.
for scale's sake, how tall are you Ryan? (in metric please)
