  • 1st time running into noise due to screen. Only had this noise using HiZ on the frequency noted in the video. Not sure why, but I will say that for other frequencies this little disc antenna was pulling in HF SSB signals even after going downstairs here. No screen noise using active GA-800 active loop antenna.

Same problem as the original clones. You can solve it by grounding the unit.

I had to return mine.. horrific noise from about 120Mhz up to about 200Mhz - also HF was unusable.. every time you touched the screen there was loud RFI all over the HF bands. Ended up not getting a portable one... got the SDR play RSP1A instead. Still "portable" with a laptop!

Sorry to hear you ran into issues with yours! I’m glad you found an alternative that works for you, and you’re able to listen on air and enjoy, that’s all that matters. 👍

Probably bad componet on the antenna board that's causing it. I believe the HiZ antenna socket doesnt put power up the sma but the 50ohm does.
The HiZ sma is for antennas such as telescopic small antennas with high ohm inputs etc

I mean for $23 this an a 2nd AM disc antenna I shouldn’t complain. They just provide a nice portable alternative to the provided telescopic antenna. You are correct I verified HiZ does not power up, only the 50ohm can be if enabled. Yes I think the HiZ is essentially 300ohms and would be good for a long wire for example… thanks!

I see you didn’t have the NB enabled. Also gain may be too high.

Good point. I’ll have to give it a try!
