Taiga is such an awesome coaster. Have ridden it for the first time the past summer and after a couple of rides when it warmed up it became my favorite coaster in Europe. The forces (airtime, hangtime, laterals) are strong and the layout is almost perfect with way more airtime moments than I expected. Got a total of 20 Rides because the park was quite empty and it is my #2 coaster overall. The setting and the trains are awesome as well. Really enjoyed the video, nice to see my footage being used on your channel.
As a Finn it was nice to hear you talk about the history of the park and making a global audience aware of Linnamäki. Also it was funny to hear mispronounced Finnish coaster names, but I shall not complain about that. Taiga surely is Finland's best coaster by far and almost puts the other coasters of Linnamäki to shame. Vuoristorata is still the second best coaster in the park despite being 70 years old.
The zero g winder really is the most weirdest inversion I have experienced, it really sets the tone of the rest of the ride; intense, fast paced and craziness. It could possibly be my number one, if I just haven't had the misfortune of just riding it once. I was there for the first season and the operations were really, really bad, however I did hear that's gone now. It's basically Taron on steroids but even more crazy, it might not look like it but you will be blown away, Linnanmäki really hit the mark
Go check out Särkänniemi too if you ever come over to Finland. I'm from Helsinki and really adore Taiga, it's an engineering masterpiece that just rides perfectly. But Tornado in Särkänniemi is just a whole other vibe from pretty much anything that I've ever known. It's such a genuine, industrial and raw coaster that rides beautifully even with its age. It's my favourite coaster on the planet.
@Zacheroni I have actually ridden this and I can say that depending on how much the brakeman pulls the brake, depends on wether you’ll get airtime because I have once had a ride where I was literally almost standing on the double down because there are just buzz bars
The double downs and the hills after them literally throw you out of your seat in the front car, and in the back you get whipped down the hills. You'd be surprised how much airtime there is.
I live in Finland and i have never been in an amusement park outside of Finland so only Särkänniemi and Linnanmäki. Taiga is amazing! Feels like 5 inversions, in Finland's scale it's huge. Nothing like it we have ever seen in Finland
Yesterday was my first time on Taiga and it's the best rollercoaster I've ever been on. Granted, I have limited experience and all my rides are somewhat spoiled by my fear of heights - but damn, this so smooth while being so exhilarating! Really happy to have a coaster of this caliber in this little nation. Thank you for explaining the park's history. Isn't it amazing that it's basically a huge charity? I love this country.
I live in Finland and have visited Linnanmäki multiple times. However I havent tried Taiga yet and I hope that I could ride it this summer. Great video!
Where could I find the plans animation/picture or any information? Also do you know where could I find the other companies pland like B&M, mack and others? Edit: No it doesn't. It looks wack af. I'm glad Intamin built Taiga instead of that shit:D
Taiga is one of my favourite rollercoaster, as of today I have ridden 228 rollercoasters across Europe and for me this ride stands at third please after Helix and Wildfire. The interaction with the other attractions and hillside make this ride. The airtime and inversions are very good. This ride shows why Taron needed inversions. Also the turn after the first inversion is very forceful and made me grey out multiple times. It looks maybe not as good in videos but riding this beast is not to be taken lightly. If anyone has the chance this year to visit a park in Scandinavia I would really recommend this park. It is also very easy to get there.
Rode this on the backmost seat. Don't think I've ever been so winded by simply sitting. I could only bear to ride it once, but it was easily the highlight of the visit and absolutely a must-experience. Really made me scream through my teeth.
As a person who has ridden taiga many many times and i still love it. It is just amazing. It is really long compared to other coadters at Linnamäki, that is why I love it.
Just went to it the first time ever, can confirm: it's amazing The loading takes some time but it's necessary for safety so I'm not gonna judge that Great video!
I rode Taiga last week. It was... amazing and horrifying at the same time. I've avoided many attractions at Linnanmäki because I haven't liked the idea of going upside down but... ti was very scary but ultimately worth it to ride Taiga. I'm not sure if I'll ever dare to do so again.
Honestly this one is probably my favorite ride anywhere. And I have Carowinds in my back yard. I got the credit on accident after a travel issue that rerouted me back to Helsinki for the evening. I don't regret disobeying "she who must be obeyed" in order to get this credit. It is the best.
from what I remember the ride was surprisingly pleasant for something as large and *fast* also while the queue was long it was themed and not unpleasant which is worth mentioning since proper theming is quite new in finnish amusement parks
I absolutely love going on taiga, it's one of the best rides I have ever been on and have been on there 6 or 8 times already. I went on it this year as well since last year I only went on there 3 times and that was it, the merchandise is amazing as well with, hoodies, t-shirts, pins, stuffed animals etc. I recommend on going there if it is possible due to covid, but during june / july / august you can freely travel to there since covid cases die down during those months.
I imagine if Linnanmäki wanted to add a third train onto Taiga in the future they probably could do since it has enough block sections. Doubt they will though.
Not enough people are going to ride Taiga for this to be a valuable option. Since Linnanmaki is a family park and not a thrill park although it has many thrill coaster most of them have a low capacity and it showed me why they have this when i visited.
My first experience with Taiga was about a week ago. It was such a great ride. It was the first ride me and my 2 friends went on when visiting Linnanmäki that day. You have got to try it out when visiting Finland or if you live in Finland, like me.
What really surprised me on my first ride back in 2019 was the downward s-curve! It gives great ejector airtime and in the back it kind of drags you by force through the curve. I really do love riding Taiga and hope to get on it again soon.
Taiga looks like what I wanted Taron to feel like, a blitz with inversions. Too bad they didn't have space to put a heartline roll before Taron's brakes like they did with Taiga...
it was truly Amazing at first it was kinda scary cause I hadn't ridden a Launch coaster before but after the first twist it was really cool!! Sam actually sitting here watching the video with a Taiga t-shirt on!! Have a Nice day!!
There will propably not be any new ones in couple of years bc Powerpark and Linnanmäki just got their new coasters and Särkänniemi also has spend a lot in past few years
I was there on opening day. Most of the public like it, but some people don’t because it replaced the very popular fun house which was located where the queue is today. They are going to rebuild it in few years though. Also the fast track queue line got critisism when it was announced.
This looks amazing, and I would love to go on it if I had the balls to :( I love rollercoasters, I enjoy riding them, I enjoy learning about them (like this video) but I am ashamed to say that I have never been on an inverting coaster and I feel like im missing out lol. I think Taron on steroids is a great way to sum it up! It's a shame you only got one rise, but at least you did get a ride :)
Such a wholesome origin for the park's existence, Linnanmäki is now definitely on my to-do list

the S&S bid for that looked pretty cool ngl
