A strong defense and awesome running backs were propping up Wilson, yes he WAS able to make some spectacular Houdini plays, but those days are over and now you just have a mediocre QB who cant see the middle of the field, floats his passes too high, and holds the ball too long.
It’s possible pete Carroll is a good coach and Hackett is not.. a good coach gets the best out of their players

I don't mind a 4-11 record but I do mind when players quit on the field; that's 100% on the coaching staff. It was a sight to see on yesterday's game when teams with equal records face off and yet one seems to have enthusiasm and a desire to win and the other is looking forward to the off-season.

I disagree, that is NOT 100% on the coaching staff. The staff can teach and hone players on what to do but they can ‘t make the players care about what they do. They’re professionals who need to rise above the bullshit and do what ‘s right. Yeah but Russ has gone to a new team with a new system with a new coach who himself was new to coaching and the Broncos only got him because of his relationship with Aaron Rodgers. They didn't get Aaron Rodgers, Russ was the backup option so he's on a team with a coach that wasn't supposed to be coaching HIM. It's a square peg in a round hole. They needed a seasoned coach to deal with a seasoned QB who is in the sunset of his career. It was doomed to fail from the start.

Yeah, that decision by Peton was really bad. I think Wilson was brought in to salvage the Aaron Rodgers trade that didn't happen. They had draft capital and thought that pick would be a low 1st rounder. Guarantee they never thought a top 3 with Russ regressing this bad.
He was on the hot seat from the start of the season until now after Matt Rhule got fired.
When Russ was in Seattle. The offense was always built about the run game. Made things easier for Russ to have the defense always be worried about the run first. Plus Russ had a lot of time to build a relationship with his recievers.
He had no run game Javonte got injured early in the season and Melvin fumbled every game. We're on like our 4th and 5th string RB rn 😂

One of the problems I've always had with the Broncos Organization, is the ridiculous contracts they signed veteran Quarterbacks to. Quarterbacks, who have already spent a significant amount of time in the league, eventually ended up getting the kind of money that a much younger player should receive.

The management under Elway was stupid. They thought they were a QB away so they kept trying the free agent route instead of draft and develop. To top that off, Elway kept hiring the wrong head coach. I'm just a casual fan but the formula for success is hire the right coach, the coach then gets his QB that runs his system. It's what KC did, Philly is doing it, SF, and on and on. If the Broncos want to right the ship, get the right coach with a proven track record.
Peyton was only a 3 year deal. Wilson is 5 YEARS and has fell off worse than Peyton at a younger age. 2015 Peyton played better than Russ did this season.

Besides, without the defense being rebuilt, that team wouldn't have gotten another championship. [I give the credit for that one to that defense.]

It was exactly Carroll’s system and design. Russ though, wanted to be a cerebral pocket passer which is not his game.

There's no way Sean Payton is coming to Denver with Fangio in tow. Fangio just got fired from them and they want him back? I don't think so. Plus, Denver has no 1st round picks to give to the Saints.
They have the 49'er 1st round pick. It's not a premium pick but it is a first rounder. Plus they have loads of money. It's a possibility but not likely.
They do have a 1st round pick from the Bradley Chubb trade.
He was on The Herd awhile back talking about what he would do in Hackett's shoes. Sounded interested at the time. He might take it depending on what else shakes up this off season. The roster fell apart to injuries but should be solid if it stays even semi healthy next year.
I think Fangio is going to go to the 9ers and be their DC after Ryans gets a HC job somewhere this off-season.

Pete Carroll has shown an ability to get positive qb performances for his team no matter who he puts in. They’re in the hunt with freaking Geno Smith bruh… we have to ask ourselves how much of Russell Wilson looking good was Carroll’s system? Or am I crazy 😂
In my opinion, this situation feels kinda similar to the equally short-lived Freddie Kitchens' era in Cleveland: a likeable guy, who had success as an OC, being overwhelmed after becoming the head couch. Hopefully, Hackett can restart his career as a positional coach somewhere else like in Green Bay.

As a Seattle fan, idk if this gets any better. Wilson created a divide in the team in Seattle, now it appears the same has happened in Denver. The next coach HAS to hold Wilson to the same standards as the rest of the team. No personal trainers on site, no communicating through "managers", no treating him like a princess. Starting to feel bad for Denver fans. But, just starting, hope you get this fixed before you have to endure a decade of bad football before it turns around.
We are in a 7 year stretch of bad football. We probably have another 2 years with Russ at a minimum before they cut their losses if things don't turn around. And there are only a handful of guys capable of turning Russ around and it's gonna be a tough sell.
Always interesting to see 1 maybe 2 seasons, and wham, coach fired. I find it hard to build and plan if you keep getting rid of coaches, especially on teams where building is in upper management, and the coach has to eat it.
This is the problem in NFL you get a year to either win it all or fired.
