so helpful, this has given me so much to reflect on - thank you :)
So pleased it has been helpful! Thanks so much!
Hi Holly,
Thank you for this detailed and informative video. Could not have wished for better advice.
So glad it is helpful!!
Hi, love the content, and find it super helpful as I am currently a band 5 youth worker with the NHS, and interested in human psychology and mental health. I have a masters in Youth Work and currently battling between going on to do a PhD in mental health/young people studies...or doing a conversion masters degree and solely honing in on psychology 🙃
I'm torn...any advice?
It’s difficult because it really depends on what you want to do- I’d have a chat with some phd candidates to see what it’s like and what the job opportunities are afterwards :) happy to have a chat re: clinical psychology
hi holly, thank you so much for this detailed video. can i please ask, did you say that you were working as an AP whilst studying for your undergrad?.. please let me know... I am doing my undergrad for Psychology with counselling and have been looking for some work experience. thanks
Hiya - so I worked as a research assistant during my undergrad but an AP after a few years of post-uni work :) have a look out for support worker roles
is psycholgoy a good career..
Hello! As opposed to a support worker or HCA, would a children’s nurse working in a mental health ward be suitable? thank you :)
Definitely! Especially if you can work alongside some psychologists :)
But, applying for 5 years actually turns my stomach upside down. Is it worth it?
Yeah, absolutely, it can be a long process, but it isn't that long for everyone, and during those 5 years, I had some really useful, interesting experiences, just outside of the conventional Degree --> AP --> DClin route :)
@ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK in 5 years I am hoping to get my PhD.
Great!
