The rounded corner is pretty awesome at avoiding having dirt stuck in the corner as with a standard drawer.
Also contractor should love ikea when it come to installation. Their wall rail system is awesome and the cabinet and drawer assembly is really a breeze.

I think contractors should love them as well, but that isn’t normally the case. There are some that want these jobs and are excited- these are the installers you want if going with IKEA cabinets.

I live by MTKD's philosophy when it comes to corner cabinets and removed them from my design. I got a quote of $4k to install a 10x10 IKEA kitchen, doing it myself instead with hours of video learning. lol

Rev-A-Shelf add-ons go well w. Sektion cabs! (That being said, I notice I love r-a-s much more when buying than when doing the install, and their installation directions make IKEA’s instructions look voluminous in comparison LOL.)

IKEAs instructions are very drawn out once you have some experience. However they are made for the ANYONE to follow

Hello, great video, and right to the end! I’m curious about the choice of solid wood doors for the base cabinets rather than for the uppers. Base cabinets, being below eye level, will not get noticed nearly as much as the uppers. Also, base cabinet doors tend to get beat up a lot more than uppers, what with knees and small children bumping into them (as well as a tendency to yank the drawers and doors open and slam them shut much harder than upper cabinets). If the base doors and drawers do get banged up or damaged, it will be a lot cheaper going to Ikea and buying a new front than having to get one custom made again (and it will never precisely match the older fronts).
Why not put the expensive wood up where you can see it, and maybe a couple of the upper doors could have reeded glass inserts if the client wants something that looks more traditional?

Excellent video. Exciting even because I believed my budget limited me to Ikea.
Yes I’ve been watching you for three years or more and still haven’t ordered a new kitchen yet! I still fear shortages, delays and illogically timed deliveries. I do have a design plan done for me years back by an IKEA designer somewhere and cabinet styles were changed but I think the options increased some didn’t yet have the money saved. Then my cabinet style was discontinued and then Covid happened. I kept saving money and have ‘nuff for the looks like smaller kitchen you spoke about tonight but mine is a near perfect 12’ square with just one opening between cabinets on the left and a peninsula to the right as one stands in the dining room looking in to the kitchen. as you stand in the dining room looking into the
I still fancy working with you on an updated Ikea design with their current options and 3rd party doors for several reasons but fear my measurements will be off, things won’t fit and what will I do then? Remember I’m an 80yo widow with Parkinson’s so can’t DIY myself anymore although I did for 6 decades and many homes.
    Q. Is this a good time to check out your plan service or are you working hands on locally or iTunes of state on projects?
I should dig out my old Ikea papers to see if the Ikea Traemont designer might of included them on his drawings. Would the designer have the kitchen measurement on his computer prints? I paid HomeDepot $100 to measure the kitchen to learn I couldn’t have them boutright. They send them to one of their in-house store designers. I did start with one her appointment times were short then so but Covid cut that short before my design was done and I we ever got yo pricing. The store is in another city and I rarely drive that far now so haven’t been back.
But maybe my understanding is faulty or things are different now. 0:00 If you design with non Ikea stock USA cabinet sizes. Or do you do Ikea and nonIkea in your local area only?
    Q. Can I take more of your time to answer even more questions?
    Q. What is the current general definition of semi-custom and custom cabinets?
I once believed Ikea and likely Home Depot and Lowe’s all did particle board boxes but semi and custom usually bought one wood. Maybe one 1/2” and the other 3/4? Do both now typically use mdf or particular board boxes? Was this ever the case?
    Q. I’ve seen adverts for preassembled cabinets made with wood boxes and wood doors where the doors and face pieces have a paint or stain finish made super strong with multiple sheer coats of aluminum oxide baked on super hard and long lasting finishes. Do you personally know of or heard of reliable brands manufacturing accurately sent pre-assembled at prices close to those you spoke of in this video? I believe one brand was Canadian and a couple were from China. This info was pre-Covid.
    Q. Are there any seasoned reliable trustworthy online or actual street front merchants selling Chinese pre assembled accurately built wood cabinet boxes and doors in a decent range of USA standard sizes with excellent finishes, soft door closures and high quality hardware with excellent records for no problem no damage timely arrival and whose interiors accept RevAShelf and other brands customizations?
After writing this out, if you’d like a tall order for a mail order solution does it not?
    Q. A YT presenter said Canada does not have lumber shortages and the high prices we have in California. Can you please comment on this?
    Q. This makes me wonder. Do you ever put up question and answer videos?
I can’t remember seeing any. But then again - I am old and have a brain related disease 😜
    Thanks for another stellar video!

Lots to work through here! First thank you for watching all this time. Sunday morning family time here but I’ll take a quick moment to say, it’s always a great time to work with me. Send me an email (designstudio@thehomestud.com) and we can discuss all of your questions and more. I start every project with a free discovery call just for this reason.
I’ll answer your other questions later when I have the time to write more thoroughly. Thank you again.

What would you have charge for what you are proposing in this kitchen.... I am thinking 2.5 times the cost of the cabinets... I would love to hear back from you. People watch this and when I design a kitchen base on what you are talking about.... PLEASE tell the people what it would actually the cost! I went through your earlier video; most contractors don't have the skill what you are talking about.. and when they get a contractor that can do what you are talking about it will run about 2.5 times the cabinet cost. Please let me know if I am wrong... Thank you
