:) We know this video isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea - but it was interesting for us to learn so much about our weird Kombi so we thought other VW fans might enjoy it too.

All the various parts of your bus is what makes the Kombi so special. I appreciate the nerdy parts too. Just continue to do your thing Ben. You know what happens when you try to please the masses👍😃

I'll bite... cause I'm that nerd. The guy in the vid, he's got all sort of facts wrong...
      1. The spit ended in 67 not 68
      2. The front isn't 68 cause the high indicators didn't start until 72
      3. The rain gutters are normal early bay size
      4. The large tail lights again started in 72

The amazing miscellaneous construction of brazilian Kombi turn any VW nerd to go crazy and makes this car unique.
And only here, in Brazil, VW can do this!
    I love it!

The mystery bus explained! I thought this bus was a project from many buses first time I saw it. Very cool!

Lol! Your just like me. When I was younger and in love with vw’s. I noticed all the small detail changes between years. When everyone saw 3 different models as the same. 😜

I don't think the 68 Type II had the high mounted front directionals. I believe that started in the 72-74 era.

I have a 1972 bay RHD which is a crossover of parts from early and late bays. I love the split windows in the Kombi but i imagine the side vents aren't as efficient at keeping the engine cool, it must get quite hot in there.

  • @AggieTheCamper

This is awesome my 69 bay has a different front again though so this may be a later bay...

The Kombi was produced in Brazil until 2014, with a water cooled 1.4l engine since 2005.

He certainly knows his stuff. Seems your bus is completely unique. personally I think you should keep it, get it really properly sorted, use it for your family and give it to your children (if, as and when you have them). There memories of this van would be multi continent and multi generational. Unless you have already given it away.....

Ben, were you spaced out when you filmed this? He's pointing out the windows and you're pointing your camera somewhere else. He's telling you about the engine and you're filming his torso minus the head. 😂😂😂

    • @KombiLife
      @KombiLife  Před 7 lety

We didn't have a great deal of B-Roll to work with on this video, it was a one-take video to capture the moment of Doug looking over our Kombi. We wanted to put this out because not everyone has the opportunity to see such a rare VW outside of South America. It was an impromptu video filmed at a drag strip in California. This is different from our main series where we spend hours capturing and editing a single scene to share the adventure with you.

Hi, I have a question pertaining to the frameless popout. How does it attach to the body? Are there slots in the side of the bus to fit in the 2 solid tabs?

about 8000 (serviceable) to 15000 brazilian reais (good condition) for the older models, upwards of 30000 for the later watercooled ones. they are really coming up in value since they stopped being produced
