How does he know this as if it is a fact? Has he been to the future? Maybe he has...in his own mind. And that is where his "truth" starts and stops! On the scale of the most influential people to have ever lived, where does Alan Watts fit in? Is he even on the scale?
The most influential person to have ever lived, and is still relevant today is Jesus the Christ (Jesus the Messiah). His presence and influence is such that the entire planet revolves around Him! Sadly, most do not even realise it. The foundation of western civilisation, uses biblical doctrine (eg: the 10 Commandments), as the bedrock, or the cornerstone, upon which western civilisation is built. And now the world is seeing dark/evil forces frothing at the mouth, to tear it all down, and send us all back to the dark ages, where an _"eye for an eye"_ is taken literally. Why? These forces are anti-christs.
1 John 2:22 - _Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son._
The way of life, is being turned upside-down. Right, is now Wrong, and Wrong, is now Right. This isn't the way it is was meant to be! And we all know, instinctively, that is true.
Isaiah 5:20 - _"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter."_

Luke 12:25-26 - _"And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?"_ - Jesus
And so, Jesus says this to you who feel this way:
Matthew 11:28-30 - _"Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light"_ - Jesus
John 7:37 - _"If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."_ - Jesus
John 7:38 - _"He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”_ - Jesus
