"Nathan" (the woman calls out at the end) and the "REAL" tattoo on his arm is NF (Nate) ... the other meaning of this song is it's Nate as an old man talking to his young self feeling like he let himself down. NF is absolutely incredible. Hope you check our more of his stuff! You won't regret it!
I loved the plot twist! I've listened to it numerous times afterwards and now I realize that the old man IS him...I think that's something we can all relate to... feeling like we didn't reach our "full potential". Meanwhile, his music is amazing and he's changing people's lives with it! I wouldn't have gotten this meaning from just listening to the song...the video really makes it!
No it's about toxic abusive parent
@AspiringEMS2000 it's both
What I love about NF and his songs is that it can be interpreted in many different ways. In an interview with Nathan, they ask him if this song was about his father or a parental figure, but he stated that these songs are meant to be taken in by any way that fits the listener. If you listen to this song and you imagine a parental figure for the lyrics or even an ex from a past relationship, the lyrics still make sense. I will say that for this video specifically, the older person is actually Nate himself looking back at his past younger self and apologizing that the younger version had to go through so much and only now that he is much older does he realize the extent that it had gone. As he feels as if he had left himself down.
It's truly awe inspiring. It was such a plot twist! I still can't get through the song without crying.
Got me crying before noon. Great reaction. I've never made it thru this song with out crying. NF is amazing. His song why did you leave us is another deep one.WHEN I GROW UP, CLOUDS and THE SEARCH are all great songs too. You might want do some those before How could you leave us. Great
I've watched it a few times after this and I can't get through it without crying either!! It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I realized now after the fact that the old man IS him. Mind. Blown. 🤯
@Lesliebates22 it’s not Why Did You Leave Us it’s How Could You Leave Us…
@@gabrielmartenson8204 ok i was right 50% lol 😆
NF is quite the tallent.
For another powerful song, check out "How Could You Leave Us", you might want to keep some Kleenex on tap.
He released a song a while ago called "Story". It's not based on anything, he just wanted to tell a story. The video is a full five minute movie.
Thank you for the suggestions! He's an amazing talent!
You can't go wrong with any of NF's songs if you go down the NF rabbit whole there are just really hard songs to listen to very emotional but amazing songs
Thanks! Yes I look forward to hearing more!
I'm so glad that you're reacting to NF. All of his songs are awesome! I love your honest, heartfelt reactions and hope you do more NF, because some of his songs are very emotional and you do the emotional ones really well! 🙂❤
Well, I AM a total sap! LOL!
If this is your intro to NF, welcome to the journey!! Emotional rollercoaster, while being real!!
I'll be keeping a box of tissues by the computer from now on!

I'm editing another one that will be up soon! 😉👍
Thank you so much for this reaction!! So here for more NF, his music has a message just like this one.
I see people have commented on the meaning.
He has a harder song to listen to its called How could you leave us.
Thank you! 🙏 This was immensely hard for me to not just outright sob and break down. I realized the meaning afterwards and now when I watch it, it has a totally different flavor! I've gotten quite a few suggestions for How could you leave us, so I'll have to look it up! 👍

Have tissues ready
@@savdbygracethatwrks6850 ✅ Noted! 😄
I'm crying with you. I love that you are so authentic during your reactions. NF has a very sad story.
How Could You Leave Us is powerful.
For a fun NF song do Clouds
I really struggled to not totally break down. 😭 I would love to hear some NF that doesn't turn me into a huge ball of tears! Lol!
@@MrsRealistic definitely do Clouds 🌥️🌥️
@@aymee7136 Thanks Aymee 👍
I would suggest doing Mansion, how could you leave us and therapy session next. There is a whole journey if you want to follow it we can send it to you as well because so many of his songs link to another one. I have never seen an artist do that in my life
This song was etherial...so beautiful but haunting. Thank you for the suggestions!
The saddest thing about the ending it was definitely to do with the end of his life, it’s his mother who unfortunately passed away following troubles with addiction she tragically overdosed when he was a boy, his father abandoned him and the family. And the cruelest thing to add on to what he experienced he was abused by his step father so in truth he had no parent figure and his music is truly from the soul.
Yes, the end hit hard. So many meanings all wrapped into this song. I did "how could you leave us" and was just as affected by it. He never fails to get right into my heart!
Please do more NF, he will not disappoint, he is known to make channels blow up
I'm editing one today that i will have up soon!!
🔥🔥💯💯 Reaction NFrealmusic 💯💯, NF will always get you in your feels, so much more NF 🔥 for you to discover 💯
I am so excited to hear more!
Please, the one you should have to take a look at is "Therapie Session"
You really will be blown away by this Song!!!
Thank you!
As an outcast……. we appreciate first time listening authenticity… you’ll figure it out great reaction….. NF real music
Thanks for the support Dale!
Welcome to the NF Journey!
Thank you! He's gifted and I'm certainly looking forward to hearing more of his work!
@@MrsRealistic Your gonna love it!
Look forward to seeing Your next NF reaction.
@@martynelson3013 Thanks Marty!
@@MrsRealistic Your Welcome but more importantly, Thank YOU!
NF wrote this song about his relationship with his father and how he did not want to disappoint him, making it the first time he had publicly spoken about his relationship with his father, who raised him as a child. His parents went through a divorce, and his mother overdosed years later.
This was one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I've done. He's so able to convey emotion in his music.
you get a new sub with a deep dive double meaning...
c watt eye did their? in rap it is usually a double or more...
Nathan wants iT that way... great awareness... ;)
Thank you! This song is spectacular. I've listened to it numerous times since and I still can't get through it without tears. I realize now that the old man IS him. Such a plot twist! I love it!!
sadly too many people relate to this type of pain(im emotionally numb and im only 15 )
God bless you. I hope you have a resource to reach out to and find healing in your life. No one should have to live that way. You're my 3rd daughter's age and I would hate to hear that my child felt that way. 💔😪
When you get the chance react to Lost - NF (Featuring Hopsin) one of my top favorite NF songs
Thanks for the suggestion!
but... without the video which Nate added later after it went viral on the radio it is unclear who the subject is...so I am guessing being as humble and internally aware of his own need to reflect on his self=improvement.. NF did a deflect on the reflect as to not be passing the blame on his own father and also the double meaning again towards his Christian struggle to feel worthy and accepted by his Heavanly Father since you will find through Nates music he is very hard on himself and struggles with self-hatred as his kriptonite... ;)
I agree. Just hearing the song, you would never think it was about the feeling of letting HIMSELF down. I love how you said a deflect on the reflect! Perfectly put!
I think "how could you leave us" should ve next
I've heard i should have tissues ready lol!
I know everyone is saying react to How could you leave us but like Mansion hits different for me
Thanks for the suggestion!
Also the chorus Let you down is also the same person he edited his voice with autotune to make it sound that way
That's so cool! It sounds like a woman singing!
If you like Tom Macdonald you will really appreciate NF as well Two of my favorite artists! Also NF does not use curse words in his music which makes it even that much more impressive to me.
I really love that! He has amazing talent, and the song was so beautiful. I can't stop listening to it now!
Fathers and sons man
Please do NF ( how could you leave us)
Thanks for the suggestion LG!!
@@MrsRealistic thank you for the reply
@@LG-fy9hc I try to reply to every comment! If you take the time to leave a comment, it's important to me that you know I've seen it 😁✌
They are both from Michigan so it stands to reason voice will be similar. I pick Nate over Em every day of the week.
I works have to agree with that for sure! There actual voice sounds similar... but I like Nate better. 👍
To know the backstory of NF you really need to listen to mansion first and foremost….. before how could you leave us or anything else in my opinion but you definitely do need to do the search and clouds……. and everything else
Lol! Thank you Dale! It should be a fun journey!
You should listen to how could you leave us
Thanks Duncan! I've added it to the list!
Try "Time"
Thank you Ronnie!!
Plz react To nf the search 🙏🙏
Thanks for the suggestion!
If, and only if you want to get more views and comments, DO NOT compare, sounds like, copycat, ectera when reacting to Nathan. I say this as a Real Outcast and Follower of NFs Lyrics and Reallife Emotions. Hip Hop has been around since mid to late 70s but hit hard in the 80s. All the time that has past and generations , Someone has influenced another to do what you hear Now. NF self words said Marshall was his influence. Many Mcs are influenced by him. NF has created his own lane. Pls don't say he sounds like Marshall BECAUSE they are both same ethnicity. Not saying u are, but Most do. Your forgiven because you don't know the history of Hiphop.
I actually know quite a lot about the history of hip hop. I've listened to rap since the late 80's with groups like run DMC, LL cool Jay, Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock the Beastie Boys, and so many others. I stopped listing to rap a few years back because I just didn't like any of the new stuff, except for a song here and there. I only meant his actual voice sounded like eminem...not his style. There are many other white rappers who I wouldn't compare to Em, because their voices are completely different. I also listen to a lot of rap that if you didn't see the video or know who the artist was, you'd have no clue of their ethnicity. I didn't know NF was white until I watched this...
@@MrsRealistic Well put and thanx for responding to this comment... means a lot going forward.... Respect ;)
@@georgejetson1379 Thank you, I appreciate your comment. 👍
Much better than em with emotional songs.....and he hits me extra hard....my ex that died awhile back didn't speak for years n she remembered my number....idk long story but she recommended him to me, em was an artist too that had some, like beautiful.....ect, but nah doesn't come close anymore now
Lol stop with the daddy issues... what if i told you its him... its his older self apoligizing to his younger self for his short comings... magnifies the depth 10x dun it?
Yes, well it's certainly not apparent until the end.
