- Eagle McMahon is probably leaving Discmania. Gannon Buhr is probably joining. But the addition of Alden Harris to join up with his buds at Discmania shouldn't be overlooked, especially since Kyle Klein isn't going anywhere. The 2024 disc golf offseason has been a fun one, let me know what you think the final moves will be!

It is going to be an interesting and exciting year in Disc golf. Enjoying the content. Thank you.
Not a single word about Tuomas Hyytiainen (35K YT subs) and Niklas Antilla (10K) leaving Discmania? Alden has great content, but with "only" 25K subs his channel is def. less seen.
I'm over here in my American bubble, I've never even heard of Tuomas to be honest with you. I'm intrigued by the European market (and think that Prodigy will Niklas as a push there), but am just not very knowledgeable about it. Also, Alden is smaller but uploads about 2x as much as Tuomas and his videos average quite a bit more views, so his channel is still more seen even though he has less subs
Subs aren't the same as views 🎉
They both will stay at dm
American exceptionalism
@@santtukujala Niklas already left
Glad you included the shot at 0:29, that was such a great shot
As soon as Kyle hit the scene, I'm sure a lot of us after watching him for a few rounds knew he was going to be doing big things soon to come if he can keep it up.
He had a lot of hype a couple years ago but it seems like it got real quiet even though he's still playing great
Great video and insight!
Maybe I am missing part of the story, but I dint get why Prodigy is getting heat for suing Gannon. It seems like Gannon tried to break a contract. You have to sue to enforce the contract. That is why there is a contract. Seems like they would have an interest in enforcing their contracts.
I think everyone but Prodigy and Gannon is missing part of the story. Contracts are definitely there for a reason, both parties seemed to think the other wasn't upholding their end 🤷♂️
Gannon is represented by his mom, who isn’t somebody professionally trained in the team of contracts and negotiating. She felt like they deserved to see all the financial reports as if they were employees on the board of directors, but when that wasn’t obviously given, they threw a tantrum. Hence why they waited so late in the offseason to suddenly drop the bomb publicly, to get the public opinion on their side as if they were being held prisoners by Prodigy. If they wanted to seek a fair break, they had October, November, and December to get something going. The fact it all came crashing down when it did and how it did is telling. It was a power play by Gannon’s side
@@danielpenrodii2389you reading way to much into it dude. Players break their contracts all the time without being sued, but I think thats going to start changing now. I dont think it was right of players to break contracts, but Gannon being sued doesn't make what he did a "power play" 😂😂 what kind of "power" could they even possibly hope to achieve through leaving a contract early?! That makes no mf sense dude, seriously, think about it! You make no sense
@@chrism4008 Where have you been? With the status of social media, you don’t have to be right in order to get the power of public opinion on your side, you simply have to be first. Gannon and his mom went to social media first to break this story. Don’t you remember the first 30 days after the news story? It was 99.9% everybody trashing Prodigy left and right, all while praising Gannon for speaking up and how he deserved more money. Seriously, instead of keeping it professional and behind closed doors, them taking to social media got literally every fan on Gannon’s side. Prodigy’s public image had never been lower and for the next few months, all that could be talked about was how bad their plastic was or how awful their company was. Their discs sales took a nosedive too
🤔
Thoughts, @aldenharris18?
Thinking emoji... Thought Space Athletics confirmed 😱
@@ArmoryDiscGolf 😂
@@ArmoryDiscGolfI can’t wait to be on team thoughtspace 💪🏼😄
I am a big discmania fan and would love to see all of them there...but I am doubtful about Eagle staying. Gannon and Alden together would be great and I feel Gannon wants more of his own discs so I think it would be really cool to see some of those and use them myself
I like the idea of Gannon getting his own discs as slight variants to what Discmania currently offers, similar to what Prodigy did for KJ, Cale, and Isaac
@@ArmoryDiscGolf exactly!
Yeah, people sleep way too much on Kyle, and his form is buttery smooth.
🔥
Yeah content creators like Bodanza are the next big money maker for the sport. Broderic and his channel with some collabs brings another aspect to the space. Be interesting to see how things flush out for the upcoming season
It'll be interesting to see how many pros get active on CZcams- it's been a trend this offseason, but their seasons are so jam packed I don't blame them for not getting content out
Gannon and Alden are hilarious but I still wouldn't throw Discmania (or Prodigy) and it would be a shame for corporate to get a hold of them and start trying to boss them around on what they can and can't do in a video. I thought it was the coolest thing that these bros would do the wackiest goofing around and then shred the courses beating the top pros who are so serious about trying to be the best. If Discmania wants to tap into their magic then they need to let them keep being themselves.
Yeah I'd imagine Discmania would give them pretty free rein if this were to shake out that way
I think eagle was trolling.
That would be hilarious, I'm here for it
I don't know. Doesn't seem like his style.
It seems like Eagle is either leaving or they are trying to build up hype, I thought the pd2 release would coincide with the re-signing of Eagle. But now with both mystery boxes are out, I don't think there's anything else for them to hype up....... I don't think Jussi is making the decision anymore.
Yeah the PD2 being named as an Eagle sig series or something would've been a great way to announce his re-signing. Kinda gives off Doom Bird 4 vibes now...
I think he’s leaving, but not until next offseason.
@@danielpenrodii2389 well his contract is up, I would be extremely surprised if he only signs a one year deal to stay with DM
Discmania shot them selves in the foot with the active line;)
expound?
@@ArmoryDiscGolfIt was simply a failed series of discs, in the long run. Their older discs are beloved and instead of simply producing more of them, they made a bunch of bizarrely lame named discs and the quality wasn’t there. Hence why you see so many in starter packs! The percentage of DiscMania fans and players overall that truly love the Active Line is insanely small. 99% of people would pick the lineup of “out of production” discs in a heartbeat over the Active Line discs.
For real! Their “out of production” list makes me so heartbroken when you realize how crappy the Active Line is. Just put your money into reproducing the classics!
Yeah, and they missed with the new "stone" series;)@@danielpenrodii2389
If Eagle posted more people will pay attention. He's pretty regular, but not like some others. If you say disc golf content, I bet we ALL think Simon and Bodanza first, and then a few favorites after.
100%
There are a lot of pros that have a lot of subs bc they're pros, but there's also a talent to being entertaining on camera as well- Simon doesn't just have a beautiful toss, he's also got good charisma for this format (which is why he's the current king of it)
@ArmoryDiscGolf Subs are good but they need views. That's really all that matters. I guarantee those with the most watch hours will have the highest contracts moving forward.
Crush boys are MVP now with Eagle jumping to MVP and the old Prodigy crew of Gannon/Alden/Bobcock is going to Discmania.
Yup, that's what I'm predicting. I think it makes the most sense. Though I would really enjoy seeing Eagle throw Innova too
@@ArmoryDiscGolf Yeah, Eagle in Innova would be cool, but Innova doesn't pay to play. The fact Innova got Emerson Keith on their B-team was a steal...he could easily win a tour event or two this season.
@@cup_and_cone which is frustrating. I wish Innova cared more about bolstering their pro side
the power of christ compels you
to sign with discmania
If Eagle was to leave DiscMania, doing it now wouldn’t make sense. Coming off an injury, surgery, and rehab is already shortening his 2024 season. Why force himself to learn a whole new bag ASAP when recovering when he could just wait until the next offseason?
He accidentally posted a video titled "Why im leaving discmania" but removed it fast, but people got to see the title, so it is confirmed he is leaving.
He is leaving...he accidentally publicly published his departure video and then made it private again.
I don't think that it takes pros very long to learn how other companies' discs fly, regardless. I'd imagine if the money were good it would be well worth his time to spend a couple of weeks ironing out kinks (while still being an elite talent in the meantime). These guys know how to throw discs
I disagree that it is "a smoke screen" that the companies are going to add more players after announcing their Touring Team.
The "leaked announcement" that I was referring to was Eagle's supposed premature announcement from a few days ago. Looks like he's leaving DM but there's also a lot of speculation that it was a "fake leak"
Gannon and Alden to discmaina, Eagle and Antilla to Lone Star 🤷♂️
I would be down for that just to see the chaos that would ensue haha
A whole discmania video and comment section and not a single mention of Casey White
I wasn't trying to cover the squad exhaustively, Casey is just not up for contract rn so it's business as usual on that end
So what I've thought is Discmania has been falling behind manufacturing. Prodigy and MVP alike all have discs that are super flippy and/or lightweight. There is a huge market for beginners with slow arm speeds to buy flippy or lightweight discs. Discmania doesn't have any of that. Not only that, but these super glidy 1 speeds people are putting out the last few years, Discmania didn't do that either.
I know Discmania is a company and can only do so much, but if the market speaks, you must reply or get left behind
Your not Discmania fan.
Discmania has that 1 speed disc (Cloud stone)
Discmania has been put behind a bit by switching to independent manufacturing, but they DO have a good amount of flippy stuff available- albeit in their Evo line
They also just released their version of that glidey 1 speed in their mystery boxes, which looks to be a unique take on the slot (it's very slim, as opposed to the deep Glitch/Polecat variants)
I'm excited to see them continue to expand their originals line, though
@@skiller2704You mean the one you have to but two mystery boxes to get? Or the one you could have had for 800 on eBay. His point is spot on. They have some beginner stuff via the evolution line,(I use them) but most discs are geared to intermediate or advanced players.
@@skiller2704didn’t that just release in the last like 2 weeks of the year? I think the argument still stands. Other companies put them out much earlier and then saw the returns $$$$
@@justinbutler8418 okay i understand your point yes.
But what do you mean by flipy? Because Discmania has essence, origin whole active line.
Kyle Klein is a beast, no doubt. However, he didn’t come close to the expectations in 2022 so his image took a hit. He wasn’t bad by any means, it’s just his peak wasn’t what anybody expected.
I mean... he was a total of 2 strokes from winning 2 majors and the DGPT Championship, in addition to being a top 10 player on tour overall. What sort of crazy expectations do we have for him?
I wish I was good enough to where that's a disappointing season 😂
"pull off something huge"... Are they going to sign Lizotte again or McBeth? Don't get me wrong, Buhr to Discmania would be wonderful, but Discmania lost Lizotte and Eagle in back-to-back years. That's like Golden State Warriors trading away Curry and Thompson.
Ultiworld Fan Survey asked a question: "Have you ever purchased a touring/signature series disc for any of these players? (2023)". The answer: Lizotte sells THE MOST plastic on tour, Eagle is 3rd on that list... Buhr, you ask? Gannon Buhr barely broke top 20 on that same list ...
I don't know how Discmania will recover from this.
That was in reference to Eagle possibly staying- I agree that this loss is huge for them. I AM very curious to see how Gannon climbs that list now that he's not throwing for Prodigy
Don’t say what Usi did caused Simon to leave or any player to leave the team. That literally has nothing to do with contract negotiations. Money is what matters. Learn before you talk. Bad take
Not what I said. He was the first of what is probably (with Eagle's supposed departure) 3 huge pieces of Discmania that have left over the last 2 years
Gannon and Alden are already a done deal to Discmania and Eagle is a done deal to MVP.
☝️ This man knows what's up. Crush boys are MVP now and the old Prodigy crew is going to Discmania.
I think that makes the most sense 👍
Kyle Klein is like joel freeman and kevin jones. Yea they are good but most players don't know them, let alone like them.
Maybe a hot take but if kj was with another brand or finished as well as kyle, he would be viewed in the same boat as simon and eagle.
I see what you're, but KJ was a big deal when he was finishing higher. He's a few good finishes away from being back in the limelight imo
@@wesleygrogan5318 I agree with this take
I agree that Kyle Klein is an amazing player but he might be the least personality to talent ratio. I think that's why he's not talked about. He doesn't bring the excitement as others in his skill bracket. He's not bringing anything on the casual rounds I've seen either. I wanted to like him when he was on the 3rd "crush boy" but couldn't find a reason to like him.
Especially since he seems so different than Eagle and Simon, I think forcing him into "Crush Boy" status was a mistake branding wise
Having a channel is only half the battle. Gannon and Gavin have as much charisma as a pile of Simon's toe nail clippings.
Haha different strokes for different folks, there are a lot of people that love that content
Alden Harris is good but not Klein or buhr status lmao.
Correct, but I don't think anyone is arguing that anyway
lmfao bro did you just say we needed to put "respec" on his name? You cant even say RespecT bro
with all due respec, if you don't enjoy the occasional goofy comment this may not be the channel for you
Saying, "bro" and criticizing someone for jokingly saying, "respec" seems odd to me...
