Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down Dune Prophecy.

Hot off the heels of our 2 hour breakdown on part 1 and 2 I'm diving back into the dune-iverse with this new teaser. There's a lot going on with it and in this video we're gonna be going through the hidden details, things you missed and genuinely just explaining the story and characters.
Its basically about the origin of the spice girls.

Now the trailer begins with us in space travelling through a gas cloud that appears to be an eye. Eyes of course represent sight and sight is something laced throughout the dune saga. Prescience is the ability to see the future which is something that Paul possesses. Beyond that though the Bene Gesserit are attempting to look to the future and create the Kwisatz Haderach. This will be known as the supreme being who will rule over all.
Now they'll do this through a number of ways with them first mating the bloodlines of key houses. Over generations they'll create a family tree in which certain members of certain houses will mate. These will then have children that mate with others and over time it'll refine the children. - Zábava

I know it wasn’t in the original books, but is there a reason the Harkonins all became hairless and albino? Because Valía isn’t, it can’t be genetic because neither is Jess or Paul so do they take drugs? Is it something to do with the pollution on ghedi prime, again, I know they’re supposed to be ginger

I'm not 100% positive but if I'm remembering correctly, Arakis was a complete desert since before the Butlarian Jihad. The actual people who become the fremen though I believe have been on the planet since before A.G. time started and got there during the Jihad and left for dead but obviously didn't. I may be totally off but pretty sure that's mostly correct. Don't think Arakis had any green since well well before humans ever discovered it. Cause the sandworms they say were NOT a natural animal and had been planted there somehow but if it had been done by humans after the Jihad then they definitly wpuld have been aware in Paul's time but they say they don't know who brought them to Arakis but the worms are basically what ultimately led to the complete desert and with no one know when they were put there then Arakis hasn't been green for most likely anywhere from 20,000 to 40,000 years before Paul. Plus you also have to remember the worms change the planet like reverse terraforming and terraforming does take incredibly long time spans so maybe there was small Oasis on Arakis with a few trees or bushes and some ground water but even those would have gone away quickly thanks to how sand trout react towards water.

When they first migrated from earth, they brought the Arabic there. That’s where the Arabic and Muslim type culture comes from. Then they started migrating people from one planet to another to another and out further, and then kept bringing people to arakis and then stopped and then the buttlarian Jihad.
The series has characters from the novel Sisterhood of Dune. So there’s already someone who has undergone a spice agony without actually using spice. She gets poisoned by another drug and survives and is able to unlock the ancestral memories essentially making her the first Reverend Mother.
This Dune prequel is going to be a surprise
Love your videos bro. I saw Dune part 2 in the movies a few weeks ago, awesome movie. And i watched David Lynchs Dune for the first time yesterday as well and thought it was mad good as well, big Davis Lynch fan. Was cool that so many actors from his other works were in it as well.
Like "Rings" I thought this show would suck but that trailer really did get me intrigued. Is this based off the Kevin Anderson and Brian Herbert Duniverse??
Mark Strong and Emily Watson is a strong cast so looking forward to this.

I’m a no-life Dune nerd. I’ve read the original novel 9 times (I’m old AF.) I’ve read Messiah, and Children 4x. The last three Frank novels only once each, as I’m not a big fan. Frank was going through some heavy personal trauma when he wrote them which is very likely what prompted the direction he took the story. I do enjoy the EU books by Brian and Kevin. Those saying they're not canon ignore that Frank left Brain his notes before his death (of an embolism after his surgery for pancreatic cancer.) Are some things changed? Yes. But mostly for clarity and so far, none of it has bothered me to any degree that effects my enjoyment of the overall story. The Houses trilogy and the setup prequel trilogy (The Butlerian Jihad, The Machine Crusade, and The Battle of Corin are quite good as they setup the Dune universe. I highly recommend. I think the show Dune: Prophecy is doing the right thing by centering the story on the Bene Gesserit considering they're around longer than even the Spacing Guild, and literally have their fingers everywhere. It should be easy to explain the recent past (the setup prequel trilogy) from that point. The trilogy of Sisterhood of Dune, Mentats of Dune, and Navigators of Dune, like the other trilogies, are one long narrative that is part of the whole even longer narrative of the entire Dune Universe and are a prequel to the eventual setting up of The Spacing Guild. As for the show having the same look as the films, is very intentional and has been the plan all along, even though Villeneuve, who was set to direct the pilot, dropped out due to scheduling. Brian Herbert was an Executive Producer on both parts 1 & 2, and also Prophecy. The trailer looks amazing.

I've always been interested in Dune, but when I heard my fav actress ever (Indian actress Tabu) was cast in this, I was TUNED IN.
they did not have to have spice for space travel during that far back in time. they had to get to arakis from earth, the guild didnt always exist.
Before the Guild, they used computers, AI, and robots to traverse the galaxy and aide humanity. Then humanity went to war with the “thinking machines,” which was called the Butlerian Jihad. Adter winning the war, computers were banned from being made and used, which is when the Spacing Guild was formed.

I believe they already had the ability to space travel and at light speed without spice, but it was extremely dangerous due to space debris. With spice they are able to travel at light speed safer because they can foresee any space debris and avoid it:

They did use AI before the spice for space travel, so this could be before Dune… Don`t remember the exact time they did find Dune and spice… but the AI was the main way before buttlerian Jihad.

Prescience isnt just seeing the future, its also being aware of everyone &everything happening now, too, what everyone is doing, thinking, etc, hearing their thoughts, feelings. As, God is prescient.

This show is not canon to the main series because all of Brian Herbert's work is not canon. Brian Herbert is a notoriously bad writer and his books heavily milk the Dune IP for superficial aspects while not adding anything to it. His books turned Dune into mindless star wars style member-berry sci-fi fighting content. I've read them all, they are borderline offensive in their lack of novelty and mediocrity. They even pretended that Frank Herbert wrote notes on Dune 7 and made their own twisted version of the final Dune book into two different books that retcon ChapterHouse Dune which is really gross to me. They made a puppet out of a cadaver for greed. Dune sisterhood is the least bad book they have written and that's why its being turned into a show over other books in their series as Dune sisterhood is not the first book chronologically. The Dune fandom across the world commonly agrees that Brian Herbert books are al non cannon. In fact there was a Dune world building book that was approved and sanctioned by Frank Herbert called Dune Encyclopedia which Brian Herbert decided to stop all production of when he inherited his father's estate so that he could write his own content that can serve as the lore for dune. The real Dune lore can be found in the Dune Encyclopedia which Brian Herbert refuses to print anymore, so its really hard to come across in stores or in the wild, you'll have to buy a really old edition. That man killed someone else's art for his own greed.
I totally get your opinion and it's right on many fronts, but I consider them Canon and personally enjoyed butlerian jihad machine crusade and battle of corrin. The rest are ok but the bene jesserit are descended from the sisters of Rossak and I always enjoyed that storyline.
I honestly think the quality of the TV show is going to be dismal compared to the cinematic masterpiece... therefore, I'm incredibly skeptical.

It's set 10 thousand years before the new films and centres around the women who originally started the bene geserit and how the prohecy came to be
