- One of my favorite scenes form the hit television show Supernatural. Here Dean meets Castiel, and angel of God. it's about time they added an angel to the mix. Can't wait for the rest of the season.

introducing angels was the most genius idea they had, literally took an already booming show and shot it up with steroids

+Realist Without Eric Kripke there to keep the reins on it though, it was to the detriment of the later parts of the show. I'd go so far as to say angels were overused to the point of liability as early as Season 6. Too many angel and demon plots cramped everything else out.
And they topped it by FINALLY bringing God in. "We should probably talk." YA THINK!!! PRICELESS reaction when they finally met God and realized who he actually was. Though I DO wish we'd gotten to see Cas interact with God besides them sharing scenes after Lucifer was ejected from Cas. You think they'd have a few things to talk about especially as God confirmed he's the one that keeps bringing Cas back.

Misha is so beautiful in this scene. In the uncut version, after Cas showed his wings and put them down, there was a moment he physically sagged like it took a lot out of him. Jensen and Misha had great chemistry in this scene.

The beginning of legend.
Wow, they've come a long way, from "you have no faith" to "I prayed to you every night". I think it's fun to look back and see where those two began. Castiel pointing out that Dean has no faith, but becoming what Dean believes in, Castiel thinking nothing of possessing Jimmy only to feel so much guilt because of it, Dean disbelieving Castiel and trying to kill him only to rip through Purgatory to save him. Ship them or not, it's up to you, but I think even non-shippers have to see there's something special here.
Brotherly love. Dean goes the same distance for Cas as he does for San. He sold his soul for San and was prepared to let brainwashed Cas beat him to death because he didn’t want to fight him.

One of my favorite fanfics has Dean succeed in saving Mary with his warning to her creating an alternate timeline where he nearly dies in the nursery instead. This Cas who was stranded when time changed saves him and Dean grows up with Cas as a protector. At first he's like this but spending so much time with Dean growing up makes him more human. At the end of the story Cas sacrifices his Grace and himself to end the threat of the Apocalypse forever. He only sacrificed himself due to the situation as all they needed was his Grace and when he agreed to give that up, he told Dean, who was 16 at the time, that he didn't mind a human life as long as he got to spend it with Dean. There were HINTS of Destiel when Dean was older in the story but that was it. Cas ended up being resurrected by Gabriel though he came back human and he joined Dean as his hunting partner rather than Dean returning to a normal life when the world wasn't in peril like the rest of his family did.
Y'know, it is now occurring to me that Cas was just being a drama angel during this whole scene... the flapping roof, exploding lights... he didn't have to. But he did. And we love him for it every time we rewatch this.
I like to think that all the banging at first was Cas falling onto the roof and rolling off of it

+sanbi221 I did at the time because with all this bad stuff on the show I was glad to see there was good too. But the problem after this scene is we find that most of the angels are rotten and selfish, and God appears at this time to be just a dead beat Dad, so it ended up disappointing.

Man, I miss Bobby so much. Dean, Sam and Cas were like the sons he never had and he looked after them so well. He was the closest thing the poor babies ever had to a father.

It makes sense, so no need for it to be so erratic. Angels want to wipe out half the human population and planet so they can make bitches out of everyone on Earth and manage the chaos. You can imagine how that might set some angels on edge; If the lower angels knew the plan to do this earlier, there would have been a rebellion but it was too late when they were told and Cas was the only one willing to rebel still.

Jensen really was born to play the role of Dean. He just naturally has all the subtleties down of that character. At 2:06 when Cas tells him he's an angel of the lord, watch Jensen eyes as he sizes him up, then slowly gets up in a defensive posture. He's not sure what any of it means, but he naturally is getting ready for a possible fight. You can read the words and try to act it, but he just has it
I doubt Dean was getting ready to actually fight, the entire episode it was made painfully clear just how hopelessly outmatched even demons are against this ''Castiel''. Dean comes across here more disgusted than anything else like ''No, fuck off. Not after everything i've seen.'' which is relatable considering Dean has spent the last 40 years in hell.
Dean goes from not believing in angels to getting into a one sided fist fight with God and having the new God ride in the back seat of his car.
Imagine if his first line was 'Hello Dean' XD

So, the first time they met there was sparks flying, heart stabbing and intense staring... ahem ahem ;)
That... is a very accurate description 😍 I never watch TV- seriously, about 4 years ago, I just happened to catch the season 3 finale on TNT (or maybe it was TBS??), where they were airing a Supernatural marathon of reruns, and I instantly fell in love, and watched everything up to the season 5 finale, which was a perfect and fitting ending. So when they announced that the show would continue without Kripke, I was so excited, cuz as perfect as it was, I still didn't want it to end... I stopped watching after the Leviathans killed Cas, and he didn't immediately reappear- I was already pissed with how out of character they had Cas with the whole God!stiel arc... Anyways, I recently saw that Cas was back, and started watching again, and even tho I think it shoulda ended after season 5, I keep watching, mainly for Cas and Dean's relationship. I barely watch TV, I don't do Tumblr, and I was never into shipping- but I'll be damned if Cas and Dean dont have some love there, and belong together! I couldn't give a fuck less about Jensens nasty attitude when fans ask him about Destiel at cons, or what the writers say- As far as I'm concerned, it's a thing, whether they wanna acknowledge it or not. LOL so thanks for that comment... I don't really read fics, but have u read "Twist and Shout"? It should be required reading for all Destiel fans. 😄😍😘😚😣😢😳😭 Sorry for typing a book, LOL

I waited to see if he'd be back, reading episode summaries and watching short clips on CZcams, but I didn't bother watching again until I knew he was back... Dean was my fave before Cas came on the scene, but after a while, I got sick and tired of the whole every-single-season-whats-wrong-with-Sammy?-Watch-Dean-cry-about-their-trust-issues formula. It was boring as hell after a while. Then Cas came along, and it was finally something different I could focus on. But after season 5, I feel the show just started a steady decline...

Even the demons didn't believe in angels for a while. Lucifer was locked up and all the garrison were essentially hands-off. Azazel might have been the only believer left.
This gets touched in an earlier season, when Sam thinks there is an Angel involved...in the end, it was just a ghost.
Dean basically says he only believes in things he has seen or for which there is lore or believable accounts. And up to this points, Angels never came much in contact with humans, so no hunter ever encountered them.
Sadly, with the entire Men of Letters plotline later on, this got completly erased...

Watching this again feels so validating knowing that Castiel is canonically in love with Dean and his feelings for him are romantic.

I know how everybody else is talking about Cas's entrance, but honestly, the thing that stands out to me the most is when Dean doesn't believe Cas is an angel because he doesn't believe that good things could happen to him. Dean believes he doesn't deserve to be saved, and what's amazing is that Castiel sees that, within the first few minutes of knowing Dean. Some people may not ship this as an OTP, which is perfectly okay, but even you guys have to admit that they've had a connection from the beginning, even just from a friend viewpoint.
Does anyone else miss basass!Castiel? The Cas that came in all swoopy with his trench coat and acted like a serious and fierce but lovable angel and could smite the crap out of anything that tried to stand against him?
