- You've got to be a little cheesed off when you score a hat-trick, but still end up on the losing side. Not only did that fate befall Dwight Yorke in this game, but he also hit the post and had another wrongly disallowed for offside. The remarkable thing is that he was still looking for his first goal of the season going into this fixture. Some real entertainment here, described by Peter Brackley.

RIP Peter Brackley Legend one of the great commentators.
Yorke was a great finisher. It's mad looking back how stacked Newcastle's team was, in terms of star quality.
I remember watching this live when I was 12 years old..I'm a Newcastle fan but respect to Yorke
I was also 12 years old watching this live and I'm a villa fan. Great story haha
Dwight Yorke: Scored a hat-trick, hit the post and had a fourth wrongly disallowed for offside! What a player! UTV
was never offside! I miss these days of the prem. Great upload
Newcastle were a good team and had great players back then.
Kane ain't no Shearer or Ferdinand. Sorry but true.
RIP Pav!
I WAS LIVING IN BRISTOL AT THE TIME VILLA FAN. WAS ABSOLUTELY GUTTED BUT NEWCASTLE WERE AMAZING THAT SEASON WHAT A TEAM THEY HAD
Yup, in fact Shearer was actually an even better finisher, in fact the best pure striker in terms of his ability to score from any situation, if he had joined Man Utd, he would have bag quite a lot more goals and silverware.
Dwight Yorke nearly got 5goals in that game. Classic game
Fantastic game cheers for uploading
I'm a fans newcastle united from indonesia 😊
what titans of the game going blow for blow. Villa and Newcastle in there hey days so to speak. Brilliant stuff!!!
Ginola, Gillespie, Shearer, Ferdinand and Asprilla. What an attack!
Yorkie should have had 5 in this game. He certainly was robbed of a fourth.
the prem was so open back then, a good few teams could ov easily won it, money has changed the game so much, the prem is still the best to watch but its not as open as it was
So open that United won it 90% of the time.
Shearer aand Ferdinand the best strike partnership in world football at this time.
Brilliant performance from Dwight Yorke 🤩starplayer & the Aston Villa team was their best 11 Eva
Excellent game of football this was shame we lost
oooo I remeber this I was at that game what a contest this match was
i think i saw lee hendrie at 8.07...
What a game this way. Newcastle and Villa were great sides back then.
Anyway, Brian Little Walks on Water! Cheers for the vid! :)
Headers were so vital and precise back then. Because the ball was harder and when stuck, the header can arrow into a corner with speed and accuracy.
Yorke, Ferdinand and Shearer were also amazing headers of the ball, irrespective of generation.
Shearer was a Beast im saying that and i dont even like him ...Best ever
Yorke should of had 5, the goal that was called offside wasnt even close to being offside.
The days when the header was very much part of a forwards arsenal
ever since I can remember I"ve been popping my collar
14 years old watching goal
Yorke's 3rd goal should have been called offside. The "4th" was wrongly disallowed, so in a way the two cancel each other out. NIce football by both sides though.
Played onside by either Beresford or Howey the LB have a closer look.
I was at this match was staying over with my cousin at the time in toon and got a free ticket lol
25 Year !
good win back then. why not do it now. no time like the present
Dwights 4th was absolutely, way offside
SOTV up the mags
LALALALALALA GEOOOOORDIEEEEES!
Not a big fan at all of Wolstenholme or Johns, I must admit Brackley is the modern day commentator who resembles more those two old standing stones, and... in fact... I do prefer people like Barry Davies or John Motson. :-)
How can you score 3 goals an still be on the loseing side
ask Mbappe
Retrospect the VAR it would've been 4-4.
Sheerer cheete
