  • this video I'm going to be swapping out my 5 KW motherboard and controller and replacing it with an 8 kilowatt motherboard and controller, will there be a difference? let's find out.

I think what's important is the ratio between pulse rate and fan speed. Any smoke indicates unburnt fuel from lack of oxygen. So the fan speed should be set to supply just enough air for complete combustion but no higher because a higher speed then starts to push more heat through the exhaust and efficiency suffers. Having a glowing exhaust pipe means a lot of heat being wasted. What would be good would be to capture that heat and use it or to pre heat the air going to the main body heat exchanger.
The power (wattage) consumed by the fan motor is not linear to its speed. The doubling of the power consumption does not mean a doubling of the fan speed. The fan speed can be set in the controller settings, and will give a reasonable estimation of fan rpm.
I had to change the controller of my 5kw heater, and the replacement offered a pulse rate of 8hz. However, I still maintain a minimum fan speed of 3500rpm as this is still producing no smoke. I don't see the point of increasing fan speed because all I will achieve is to push heat through the exhaust rather than let the heat exchanger do its work.

I watched the man's videos you recommended, showing the 2kw uses as much fuel as the 5kw but lower output therefore the 8kw could well be less efficient having the same heatsink area as a 8kw. Also I wonder how long the fan will last at higher rmp. Still interesting to watch and learn you may need to replace two compents.

I wonder if adjusting the glow plug to it's highest wattage setting (PF) would also increase the fuel burning efficiency and heat.

Where did you get the 8kw controller and motherboard?

But by you doing that your going to where out parts of that heater because your running it a lot harder , The speed of the fan will be to fast & the bearings will not last that long & other parts could all so where out sooner , & How much more diesel are you going to use , It would be nice to find out if your one will last as long as a real 8KW heater & if it uses more diesel .

8kw would require larger burn chamber and dosing pump.

the 8kw chamber is the same size as the 5kw chamber ,and both units use the same size pump .

@@gizmo1252000 Yup, and they are both copies of the Eber 4kw, I guess chinese watts are smaller, so they can get more in?

@@MrSlugbait all they do to achieve 8kw ,is use a different controller ,that can increase the pump speed and fan speed compared to the 5kw controller which is limit .

Chinese tend to lie about the output of their heaters the German heater which Chinese copies say theirs is 4kw so if you have even a electric heater at 8 kW it's going to pump out more btu than the Chinese diesel heater.
