8,100 tons of gold ( supposedly) and nearing a quadrillion in currency derivatives , endless amounts of debts.
This was fun. Matt learned French from Pepe le Pew, interesting. 🤣USA may have the largest gold reserves on paper, but does it physically exist or is Fort Knox mostly empty? Is it strange that every bill to audit the gold reserves has failed? Hope you guys have a great Independence Day week.

I'm going to guess most of the USA gold is native -- from the ground. Others not so much ?
I read Turkey is buying at a faster rate than any country the last 3 years.
Did you know all the gold mined on earth. Could fill the same area of about the size of a large apartment complex. So to own a piece of that you're pretty special to own gold.
Everyone is talking about the BRICs, I don't know how they will get a common currency if they don't have much gold.

Fort Knox hasn't not been audited in God knows how long. Most people say it's been leased out
Germany did sell off some gold recently. As for Canada they sold off 100% of their gold reserves and less than a decade ago they sold off the last of the old circulation gold coins that they had so they have nothing other than what they use for minting gold coins for sale

@@EmpirePreciousMetals Canada sold their gold because it was "an anachronism" and they made it clear that the only real form of money is what the government produces as money. That is of course BS but that's what they claimed.
As an amusing side note they sold off the last of their reserves at literally the bottom of the market in the very early 2000s
We don't have 8,100 tons of gold i can guarantee it. Central Banks sold it all, or a large portion of it, during the 08 crisis to keep everything alive.
Keep in mind, that is what they report......reality i am sure its different.

Wrong. Countries have been taking back their gold that the U.S. holds. Fed won't disclose the amount we have that is dwindling also due to rehypothecation.
Many countries liquidated their gold holdings to get their national debt lower to join the Euro in the late 1990’s.

Italy at #3 surprised me, didn't know they'd be so high up on the list. So, I looked this up to verify and see the numbers. Found this interesting. Mario Draghi, the former Bank of Italy governor and European Central Bank governor, when asked by a reporter in 2013 what role gold plays in a central bank’s portfolio, answered that the metal was “a reserve of safety,” adding, “it gives you a fairly good protection against fluctuations against the dollar.”
