It was nominated to Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in the 43rd Grammy Awards (2001), but lost to Destiny Child's "Say My Name"
Lucy Pearl was an R&B supergroup formed in 1999, as the brainchild of former Tony! Toni! Toné! member Raphael Saadiq and D'Angelo. However, D'Angelo backed out of the group due to scheduling conflicts. The other members of Lucy Pearl were Dawn Robinson (Of En Vogue) and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (formerly of A Tribe Called Quest).

Lucy Pearl was such a talented trio I wish they would have made more albums together. I miss R&B/hip-hop trios like Groove Theory, The Fugees, Lucy Pearl and City High that made great R&B/adult music. I miss the '90s and early 2000s eras of R&B!!!!

As I get older, I start to appreciate songs that aren't phony or full of posturing. This song, "Talking to Me" the Amerie song, "Frontin'" by Pharrell, and "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green are all that type of song, and of course, this one. I think Raphael Saddiq's whole style was a bit over my head when I was a kid.
Talking To Me is such a great song. The beat alone touches your soul.

Her solo career should have been more than what it was. I guess poor management. But she can sing her ass off and she's fine as all get up. I've always had the hots for her. She was the one in the group that moved the needle for me.

I finally found it!!! I've never been able to find this song! I remember loving it when I was young, but this came out in the days before my family even had internet on our family computer. All I knew is a member of En Vogue was in it... Took me this long to realize I could just look up the members and see which ones came out with music after they left the group.
