  • Here's a sneak peek at a Speech and Language Therapy activity from my week. If your child is learning to make simple requests and using some single words, then this will give you some ideas you can try out at home. It doesn't have to be Peppa Pig, of course! What would you choose to put in that exciting box?!

This is brilliant. I have just started helping a child, who I believe has DLD and this gives me so many ideas.

Hi Bryony, thank you for sharing your great ideas. Can you share an activity how I can encourage my child to say 'stop'.

HI Sheba. Musical instruments are a good excuse to practise 'stop'. Here's some ideas to get you started: czcams.com/video/jp91IbxZPxM/video.html

You might use different toys/activities to work on ‘stop’. 1) Daily life: Say stop when pouring drinks or they will overflow 2) Play-doh: Saying stop when there is enough 3) Mechanical fishing toy - Saying stop so that the toy is switched off so that it’s easier to put the toy hooks in the mouths of the fish 4) Play/interaction - Tickling game
You might even add -ing verbs after ‘stop’.
