A real insight into what goes on behind the scenes. It’s not all just sitting behind the wheel - there’s lots more involved. Thanks for another great “episode” of your trucking life 👍🏻
one of the best trucking channels on You Tube even better than some long term American channels as i can relate to the Aussie content easier and some of the American guys are ... well lets just say they think a bit different to us Aussies and have a different culture
This would be your best video yet, Ken. Good on you for taking care of your health, as it is very difficult the eat healthily when on the road constantly. I know it's going to be difficult at the start, but fruit and plenty of water look like becoming your best mates.
Hi Ken, Jamie from Newcastle, thanks for all your efforts making your videos, and you absolutely do not need to apologise at all mate, and I can safely say all watching your content love it. Please look after your health, and we all know it's extremely difficult to get good food when your on the road and on a time table, and absolutely sing out if you ever need a hand, I'm sure many of your subscribers are all over the country, and we would gladly help out if you ever needed anything. Thank You very much, we all love your videos mate, and take good care. 🤝👍🙏🇭🇲
I’ve gone to one meal a day blood pressure has gone down no bread no iced coffees lost 13Kg I was on the blood pressure tablets all back to normal now.
As a shareholder of Lindsay's it very reassuring to see my money in professional hands. Your down to earth style makes everything real and not sensationalised. Great viewing. A suggestion. Our roads would be a lot safer if non truck drivers were educated on how to live with trucks safely. What most car drivers do not realise is that when a truck is on the wrong side of the road to pass a car, it is the car driver that is in danger. This is because if a vehicle appears coming the other way the truck will move over, better to push the car off the road who may survive, than have a head on where a fatality is a virtual certainty. You may like to give some advice for non truck drivers so that or roads are safer for everybody. As a retiree I give extra respect and courtesy to truck drivers as they pay taxes which pays my pension.
Good luck with the blood pressure. Better diet and try and fit in some exercise. I spent most of my life driving 12 hours plus taxi shifts and it is terrible for the body. Same problem too much junk food and coffee.
Great video, very informative for us mugs who haven’t driven a big rig. Great to see you take so much care of the equipment and the safety for you and other road users.👍
Hi Ken, made me realise I had no idea how much you need to take care of before you hit the road again when you pick new trailers. You said you are responsible for the gear, make sure buddy you also take care of your own rig. Health is your priority, love the video.
Another quality video, well done Ken. Blueberrys are good they keep better than all the other berrys, buy low fat yoghurt in a 4 packs, buy a bag of muesli that does not have too much sugar/honey added, combine the 3 and you have a healthy brekky or snack. The Trucking industry should take note of how hard it is to eat healthy as a driver, maybe have a fruit bowl in the depot, or a vending machine that sells healthier food at a less than supermarket price, it seems there is a driver shortage, so they had better look after the ones they have and maybe attract more. I do realise that even if you supply free fruit, some people will still choose chips N gravy.
Pics and editing just getting better and better Ken! Loving the sunsets and long straight stretches of road at night too👍👍As someone who also works shiftwork and wierd hours, I know exactly too how hard it is to try and eat healthy each day. Once you get into a routine with food prep, it gets easier. Stay safe mate
It’s so good to see another Koori man behind the wheel. I’m a truck driver too, in coal mining in the Hunter Valley. Always wanted to drive a b-double, and you would probably like to have a drive of a 612 tonne loaded haul truck haha. Top videos mate. Be safe out there.
I always rate the drivers not by how they drive forward but rather how they drive backwards You’d be surprised how many drivers haven’t a clue how to reverse a double but there’s a few who can put them on a sixpence Enjoy your videos Be safe
Really enjoyed the changeover process of swapping trailers, lots of great stuff in there thanks Ken. I really like how you put it as your gear, your responsibility that mindset was drilled into us when we were younger and it's stuck with me and served me well. Felt a bit nostalgic seeing you come off Ipswich Motorway and onto Sherwood road and into the markets. Look after yourself too mate, i got pretty crook at one stage and had to throttle back for a while... too much junk food and not enough healthy stuff haha Another top video mate 👍
I reckon you used to work with an old mate of mine 30 years ago, Chris Geen, at McCormacks. He says hello, but unfortunately doesn't do internet so hasn't seen your shows. I'm really enjoying them, thanks and best wishes.
interesting vid. FYI, as a fellow traveller with BP issues, it's not the skim and low fat milk in your iced coffee that is the problem; it's the sugar in the commercial brands. Likewise the muesli bars and simple carbs in white bread. Check with GP the type of BP meds prescribed as some are not compatible with high potassium diet. At least you are aware of the issue. A home machine to monitor BP is cheap and effective.
look after yourself mate, i too like you interstate, HB, had heart attack last dec, and only just went back in truck last week, eating and walking every day has been a blessing
Enjoyable & inforative video Ken thanks for taking the time to create it. The road out to Toowoomba late in the arvo is a pain with the sun direct in your eyes due to heading due west. Drinking more water can help thin the blood & keep the old oil pressure low!
Another great video Ken. My old man drives as well but never really goes into detail about all the things you have shown in this video. Thanks for making this one, really good content.
Just recently discovered this channel in the last few days. Pretty much watched the entire catalogue. Fantastic channel! In my mind this channel started in order to keep your family in the loop whilst you’re away from them. The effort you’re making on their behalf in both your documenting and the work that you do is outstanding and very considerate. By the way, the educational/tutorial component that you’ve been integrating into your videos is also great. Keep it up mate! Each video is as good if not better than the last!
Thanks for your perseverance in keeping our heavy transport industry safe...hoping the young blokes take note of your diligence.. I wish I were as good as you to reverse my trailer..but I'm lots better at digging holes..I'm still using hand tools shaft sinking for gold..
Take care of your health Ken... You might be the King and the General of the road but life does come to an end... Sitting on that seat for long hours and doing the deeds for your income has a penalty as a result. Some times just relax and just chill out and make a Hollywood movie for all of us.... Take care...happy driving...see ya on the next one....
Appreciate the content ken, thank you! I live in Brisbane and i drive up and down Beaudesert Rd every day and past your guys depot, every Lindsay truck I see I trying to see if it's you to gave you a wave! 👋🏾 Travel safe. 👍🏾
Hi Ken. I'm really enjoying your vids. I'm 66. 0ver 40 years ago I pulled trailers with a Deutz long nose. It was an air-cooled V8 with 6 speed box and a spitter. Power steering but you'd never know! A few runs in later trucks with roadranger boxes but all pretty prehistoric compared to what you're running. Really enjoying both the sense of memories flooding back and also how different things are now. Cheers bro. Mark
Hey mate, cut the sugar (iced coffee full of it and white bread), try high protein diet, not too much fruit, have you ever tried biltong (not jerky)…could be handy to snack on, and it doesn’t hurt to skip meals every now and then. A youtuber by the name of Dr. Eric Berg has some great vids that might help you
Thanks Ken - I been waiting all week to see where you been off to mate. Take care of yourself mate you can't go living off ice coffee all your life, but you are in good company mate, my doc has me on strong blood pressure tablets too mostly cause of my weight and I like to eat sugar too much
I was wondering like as far as truck stops or rest area . But here in America like in big cities 2 p.m. and I truck stops are usually pretty full. Trying to park anywhere around 8 or 9 till 3 or 4 in the morning is hard to find
Very professional. My lived experience Ken is develop a routine and then same same same. Also helps having decent gear well maintained. Yeah, health is your most valuable 'asset'. You are what you eat they say but dead set the occupation doesn't lend itself to developing healthy eating habits with old father time always hovering in the background. Well presented and enjoyed.
dont' know how you keep going, however I'm enjoying your travels and actully follow the route onmaps just to see where you are. Keep up the good work, eat more fruit lol!
Doing the k's don't know how u find the time to make the videos!!! Good seeing you in Sydney the other week. Hopefully catch up again down the road somewhere.
Hey Ken! Thanks for a really interesting video! Your videos are very relaxing, and I am enjoying cruising the highways with your knowledgeable commentary and changing scenery through your truck window! Hope your BP comes down, and yes, fruit such as blueberries and red colored fruits are full of antioxidants which would also help with BP management. Just a question regarding sleep deprivation - how do you manage to get enough sleep in between driving such long hours when you have time constraints and goods to deliver, but still 100s of kms to travel? I know you get your well deserved 24 hour breaks, but I often wonder how interstate truck drivers keep safe and alert hour after hour. Take care and best wishes :)
Superb trucking video mate. I'm not a trucker but your bit makes it absolutely interesting. Sadly we don't have good trucking culture here in Asia. 😢 so career wise ain't as good as it there in australia

Good luck with the health issues, not my field so no advice. I would urge you to see a dietician though, they can be very good. The lifestyle of a truckie is not one that leads to proper eating at consistent times, and as you said, always in a hurry. I was used to big hours, but always started at similar times and finished at similar times. I try to imagine your changing routine and can't get my head around it, got to be hard. I was helping a guy out doing chaser bin duties at Brookstead, counting the trucks helps pass the day, quite a few Lindsays, GTS and various grain operatives. Gets really good as dusk passes and the lights take effect, alot of bling out there.
Ken do you only fuel up at your yards..or petrol stations too? Replace the iced coffee with water 3L a day mate..you'll feel great and snack on hard boiled eggs.
@@thehomelesstrucky I think having take away coffees from the coffee machines would still be okay for you, unless your Dr says otherwise of course. However iced coffees and flavored milk in general are horrific for your health, and your mental health too. After all it's true, we are what we eat and those drinks are terrible. I'm sure it will be a hard drink to give up, but your health will improve noticeably including brain fog if you have that.
You guys keep this country going...well done on your work ethic..and look after yourself because no amount of money is good to you when you are dead...keep trucking..
Congrats on your 27th video hon. Again, I enjoyed watching and I've seen new things there😉😊🥰👍 like your "demonstration" pretty cool, honey, and the beautiful scenery around is too refreshing, I love so much. But then I feel you, your tiredness on the whole journey hon...please take good sleep and good rest, see you next, I ♥️ U😘😘😘
Hi , i live in Cardwell now retired but i was a chef for 25 yrs and the done boat transport like 25 up to maybe 38 ton boats mostly wide loads using pilots, but anyway for a long period i work in Griffith base hospital in the riverina as a chef working with dietitians and after listening to ur potassium shortage u will find this in banana's and apricots so give them a go and all the leafy greens anyway long story for a small point ,,good luck keep it safe 👍
I'm a 65 year old Scotsman living on the Central Coast, NSW. I've no idea why CZcams offered your channel up to me, but glad they did. You have a knack for content my friend. Not too much personal stuff... a bit of scenery and love the music you choose to run along with the video. Well done. SUBSCRIBED!!

I went for my annual driver medical here in the UK a couple of weeks ago. I am 67 so have to do it every year to keep my licence. I failed it because of high blood pressure. I changed my diet and went back last week and passed. I am not on any medication. I now eat a lot of salads and fruit, also sardines and salmon and chicken breast meat..I'm trying to cut down on bread and processed meats etc..its not easy, but I don't want to lose my licence.
very good mate. i was looking for my ute when you came into brissie depot but you cut the video .. keep up the good work.. up to catch up with you one day when your back up here in brissie
100 points to you mate that would be the best and most accurate account of hooking up your trailers IN DETAIL THAT IVE COME ACROSS ANYWERE AT ALL THE MOST DETAIL ANYWERE thanks very much for your detailed accounts off A_ Z IN TRUCKING all your on road accounts and KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK YOU DO MATE 100%
Another great video Ken, super informative- take care of yourself buddy eat better and try to fit in a short walk every day in your busy schedule, even a 20 min walk daily will do wonders! 👍
Hey Ken I have only just recently found your chenal on CZcams and have enjoyed, all your videos mate.. your a lenged and I can't say how much I love the seeds and all of all your video and everything about your videos
Yeah the older we get the more we gotta take care of our health. You can eat normally , its just maybe drink less coffee or have decaffinated lol ! Plenty of water, short walks now and then, eating health foods, and nothing wrong having steak, sausages and chips once a week. Getting plenty of sleep. Hey do you like swimming? Yeah I know you do a lot of travelling. You just do what you can do. Good you trying to look after your health buddy xxxx Yeah its more like trying to break a bad habit and develop a good one hahaha!
Mate new to the channel and bloody loving it! Was wondering how on earth you do the trailers by ya self so thanks for that. Also interesting about how difficult it is for drivers to eat healthy too. I can just imagine, keep that fibre and fruit up as much as possible and replace a couple choccy milks with water I reckon if ya can. All the best mate
Ken, I was in your position as well, blood pressure. This is what I did to fix my weight as well. Change your diet to 90% protein., you stay fuller for longer with less food. You will need to change your ways a little. Stay right away from the flavoured milk. Set yourself a routine as much as possible and don't be afraid to have 3 or 4 eggs for breakfast. I know it's hard but get yourself a little gas cooker and buy some minute steaks, 30 seconds each side and your done. You will be surprised at all the varieties of eggs, steak, hamburger mince, lots of onion, you get the idea here. You will drop kilos in no time and feel rejuvenated. Take it from me it's to easy to have a quick stop and buy a chocolate bar and sandwich, these are your enemy.......Good Luck to you
These videos are absolutely fascinating brother. Amazing cinematography and the most detailed insight into the life of a real Aussie truck driver I have come across. Thank you so much for sharing. Stay safe out there on the roads and keep an eye out for The White Ox in your travels.....
Hey legend , thanks for all your hard work behind the camera , I’m just about to do my mc licence and your channel has been awesome info into a new industry , really enjoyed watching , all the best and safe travels from kirrawee , near Cronulla
Get off cereal mate, eat berries, macadamia, cucumber, potasium is banana. Boil some eggs in your time off, use a jet boil for its quicker or a $20 stove from bunnings, stow it in the tool box. cook fish & chicken. Lamb and beef. real foods. I am in the very same boat.

Thanks mate,… I find that people in general are too impatient these days,… that’s probably the real cause behind most onroad fatalities
Really enjoy your episodes and selection of music. It shows how hard you truckies work to keep this country running, you deserve more acknowledgement.

Very smooth hook up. I could never master that In the automatic trans. It would load up and slam most of the time.😢😮

I'm sure it will be a hard drink to give up, but your health will improve noticeably including brain fog if you have that.
You guys keep this country going...well done on your work ethic..and look after yourself because no amount of money is good to you when you are dead...keep trucking..
Thanks mate

Not too much personal stuff... a bit of scenery and love the music you choose to run along with the video. Well done. SUBSCRIBED!!

I went for my annual driver medical here in the UK a couple of weeks ago. I am 67 so have to do it every year to keep my licence. I failed it because of high blood pressure. I changed my diet and went back last week and passed. I am not on any medication. I now eat a lot of salads and fruit, also sardines and salmon and chicken breast meat..I'm trying to cut down on bread and processed meats etc..its not easy, but I don't want to lose my licence.
I’m doing the same
Now in England, we wind the legs down do the air lines then pull the pin

Yeah the older we get the more we gotta take care of our health. You can eat normally , its just maybe drink less coffee or have decaffinated lol ! Plenty of water, short walks now and then, eating health foods, and nothing wrong having steak, sausages and chips once a week. Getting plenty of sleep. Hey do you like swimming? Yeah I know you do a lot of travelling. You just do what you can do. Good you trying to look after your health buddy xxxx Yeah its more like trying to break a bad habit and develop a good one hahaha!
We could hear you fine.
Thanks for that
Thanks for the great videos. I love them.
Thanks for watching!
It’s getting really difficult now days and expensive!
another good one mate , cheers
Thanks mate
look after yourself mate , focus on food is the best remedy try get off those meds as quick as possible
Thanks mate
Take it from me it's to easy to have a quick stop and buy a chocolate bar and sandwich, these are your enemy.......Good Luck to you
I really should do that you know,… I’ve got all the gear,… just gotta do it
It's hard on the road to eat right but your health comes first mate, Great video thank you.
Thank you sir!
No problem
Another great video, a good book to read for a healthy diet is "A fat load of good" by Dr Peter Bruckner, it certainly has helped me
These videos are absolutely fascinating brother.
Amazing cinematography and the most detailed insight into the life of a real Aussie truck driver I have come across.
Thank you so much for sharing.
Stay safe out there on the roads and keep an eye out for The White Ox in your travels.....
Thanks mate appreciate it
Hey legend , thanks for all your hard work behind the camera , I’m just about to do my mc licence and your channel has been awesome info into a new industry , really enjoyed watching , all the best and safe travels from kirrawee , near Cronulla
Thanks mate,… I grew up in St Marys,… western suburbs,… we used to catch the 4am train to Cronulla beach lol,… 6 hour round trip,… Kids!
We could all eat for fruit and vegetables!
Thanks mate,… I’m not the best cook in the world though lol
