Ian is nowhere near where Tyler was even a decade ago. Even Tyler's worst, earliest work had more cohesive artistic vision, better storytelling, and more influence. While Tyler did lean into some gimmicks he payed respects to the Eminem's, Jay-z's, and Kanye's that inspired him. I don't see Ian holding a consistent following even 2 or 3 years from now, while even through all of Tyler's bullshit he maintained cultural and artistic relevance.

I agree with Tyler to an extent. I honestly didn't think he was talking about Ian until he said "regular caucasian man" lmao. But it's not just Ian, you could name a couple of rappers that fit the description Tyler was talking about. But I have no problem with the existence of the Ians and the Ice Spices of the world. Because in a sense, we need them. Their songs are made for parties, clubs, and just convenience overall. Like "fast food" as stated in the video. The problem is, it feels like the "fast food" rappers are all we have now. And to an extent I blame the generation before us.
Jay-Z fostered in Kanye, Rihanna, and J Cole, 3 of the greatest artists of the 2000's/2010's. They had the ability to give us "fast food" type music every once in a while, but they also had the talent to give us a "home cooked meal" in their music. It had substance. The older rappers aren't passing the ball anymore like Jay-z did. That's why we're still looking for Kanye or Rihanna to drop an album, they should've been passed the torch. Same with the Drake's of the world, J Cole, Kendrick too. Kendrick tried to give us Baby Keem, but meh. Travis Scott helped give us Don Tolliver, cool. But other than that, the substance rappers haven't taken the responsibility to give us the next generation of rappers with substance. Like your grandmother, taught your mother her family recipes. But then the mother didn't give those recipes to her daughter. That's why the daughter don't know how to cook and only want fast food lmao same concept. That's key with the music industry as well, because the "fast food" music is a machine. they have the formula, and they can just plug-n-play with any person who can make a rhyme. It don't take long to make, it don't require a lot of work, and they can put it out as many songs as they like, the quality isn't as important ie "fast food" music. When you're going against a machine like that, you need the help of the generation before you to help you top the quality, or at least match it with more substance and make it appealing to the masses.
