Movies do that nowadays. They knew the movie was gonna flop, so they just put an image of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in it just so people would watch it.
It's basically a next gen sequel....in the worse way. Like Sharkboy and Lava girl's kid was at most a bit player. Especially as barely more than a toddler amongst pre-tweens.
its called We Can Be Heroes, its technically a spinoff of spy kids and SBLG
But it wasn't even about them its called "we are heros" lol
The sequel never made sense to me considering that we found out in the first one that they were dreams that somehow came to life so how the heck did this entire world of Heroes and aliens come to life since they're supposed to be originally dreams
i feel like we are missing a movie,like one where max and linus' dream manipulation powers allow them to mess with the real world, which ends up creating things like super heroes and aliens and stuff.
and max goes on to found a discount justice league of all these mentioned heroes, and maybe take on linus as the evil overlord.
and this then is the third movie/spinoff of the next generation of discount teen titans.

Fact: Sharkboy and Lavagirl does not need a sequel, the first one is a true masterpiece. Also, I do not want Megamind to have a sequel because of the same thing as the fact, but the creators of Megamind 2 pulled out an Uno Reverse Card.
At the very least, I appreciate that the original actress for Lava Girl, Taylor Dooley, showed up for this, schlocky as it is. Taylor Lautner didn't even bother. Yeah, it's a corny movie, and the original was corny, but people loved it anyway, so I think it shows some respect for that nostalgia that Dooley reprised her role.

After seeing an analysis someone did on the first movie, this really just comes off as a Nostalgia grab. It has zero connections to the first movie and completely overlooked the meaning of it. If they wanted to do something similar, Max could've had a kid who ended up having the same kind of vivid dreams and instead parents fighting, maybe they just aren't around as much and that leads to the meaning of their dreams- shenanigans happen, Max finds their dream journal probably and thinks back to when he used to have one and ends up realizing he doesn't spend as much time with them as he should.

I KNOW. It would’ve been ok-ish if their kid was a main character. The trailer didn’t show any of the new hero’s and made the movie look like a sequel. When I’m reality Lava girl got about 6 lines in total and Shark boy didn’t even talk. This whole movie was a joke if you ask me.
Right like it would have been a lot better to have guppy in the spotlight. For my vision of this Guppy goes back to planet drool they could keep the aliens and have a plot twist where Linus had a child who became the villain while having help with the aliens to take out sharkboy and lava girl. Guppy has to use the help of Max and save her parents. Max could have told her I been here but times have change and now it’s not the same planet drool. That would be all thanks to Sunil (Linus’s child)

Definitely in the wrong universe/timeline here. Robert Rodriguez also said the first one was born out of his kids actually telling him of his ideas and dreams. Guy even apparently has a "the kid doesn't die" cut of "Planet Terror" for this, which in what i am saying is, I think he liked making movies his kids could watch and a decent amount that could appeal to them once they are teenagers with a few exceptions at the most. Then this movie happened after Spy Kids 4 happened and I'm just like "Please just someone give this guy a budget to make Michelle Kills Again Space, and while your at it battle angel alite II" cause even with the ridicoulous premise of Machete being basically massively overpowered (I buy mexican superhero just he seemed like a human person in the 1st is all still like batman is), or CGI giant eyes girl in her literal anime-dystopia and screwed up world with some getting better character development (yet are told almost nothing about an entire war that changed everything as we know it in favor of futuristic robotic cyborg played roller derby I mean motor ball) would make WAY BETTER FILMS/SEQUELS!

so honestly, I've read some comments and I have a theory. at the end of the movie of Sharkboy and Lavagirl they really do leave the dream world and save Max's parents. this happens after he wakes up and I know they show Sharkboy and Lavagirl back in the dreamworld after that, but we also know they can get out now, so maybe they decided to return to earth as adults and become heroes

This is just the total package. The " I'm not like other girls" and "friendship is magic" tropes, the kid who breaks out into song randomly and a kid named eye.

They did explain some stuff though. Like I interpreted the alien ship as ojo creating that to get them onto the mothership, and that it opens from the inside so that they could escape, and they tried to tell the guards what was going on, the other stuff was plan b.
Although they really shouldn't know martial arts. Like that throw guppy does on one of the guards is a really difficult judo throw. Also what are even missy's dad's powers? Like he has katanas, he summons them with telekinesis or something, and that's it. Is he deadpool but with telekinesis or something?
