When I got into sneakers a year ago, I thought NB was lame as a brand, but now that I can appreciate aspects of a shoe such as paneling and quality, I have a much greater appreciation for the overall aesthetic now... might cop some 997 sports in a different colorway

100% agree. I was the same way and I used to blow off everything NB did. But then I started to appreciate the quality. Just compare any decent 997 to something like an Air Max 1 and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Can never go wrong with a grey pair of NB’s
if only the suede on Nikes were half as good as those on NB's - that heel area looked absolutely amazing!

Just amazing quality of materials and construction: especially impressed by the smoothness of the suede toeguard cut: beautifully rounded edges. New Balance really deserves to be on more people's radar, if only to force Nike to lift their game with materials.
When Encap was first introduced in the early eighties, they had to have a simple description for it, hence they called it a motion control device. This is simply a nickname for Encap, which is a stabilizing agent for every stride. Love your content brother. I do sneakers too and look to you for inspiration.

copped the 997s grey day gotta say its my current favourite pair right now they deliver comfort,quality materials, style and the encap/abzorb outsole looks amazing on foot btw these have a separate tongue compared to the other 997s colorways wich for me is more aesthetic and comfortable.
Awesome review, convinced me to cop them on the NB website just now. Beginning to love and cop more NBs for their awesome looks and quality compared to Nike and Adidas haha. Cheers!

Finally a separate tongue. Tried the GR 997S and they are tight around the mid part. Wide feet problems

Very clean. NB is always high quality and they go with everything.
This shoe was sold out very quickly when it was initially released. I called the NB customer service and asked when NB would restock it and I didn't get an clear answer. Today I suddenly found it on the NB website again so I immediately placed the order.

I’m not a sneaker head and I just came across these and can’t seem to find em anywhere. Is this one of those hype things where stock disappears instantly? If so how do I stay on top of it. Damn I don’t want to be into hype but hate not being able to cop now

I believe the Motion Control Device is the heel clip to lock in the heel, from their retro models

Hey Sean, are these true to size? I usually wear a size 10 and sometimes 9.5. I just copped these in 9.5 and I'm freaking out they might not be comfortable. They cost a pretty penny too
