  • Harvey Weinstein's 2020 conviction for sexual assault and rape was overturned by New York's highest court on Thursday (April 25), reopening the landmark case that fueled the #MeToo movement and highlighting the challenges of holding powerful men accountable.
Many accusers of the former Hollywood movie mogul condemned the decision, with film producer Mimi Haley telling reporters alongside attorney Gloria Allred on Friday (April 26) that she was "sick to her stomach" when she heard the news.
The office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg signaled it planned to retry Weinstein.
In a bitterly divided 4-3 ruling, the state Court of Appeals said the trial judge made a critical mistake by letting women testify that Weinstein assaulted them, even though their accusations were not part of the charges he faced.
Allred, , a prominent women's rights lawyer who represented Haley, said she was concerned that the decision may impact others' willingness to come forward, thinking their testimony may not be admissible at a trial.

He stays in prison, now in California while he is retried, minus the offending superfluous evidence used by prosecutors in his first trial. He's still in the nick.

The judge in the first trial allowed a lot of evidence not connected to the case directly to show a pattern of behavior. An Appellate court found this was excessive. He stays in prison and will be retried with the extra evidence taken out. He's not going anywhere, and he's going to be found guilty in his retrial too.

Unfortunately the money grabbing nasty entitled women who jumped on the "me too" movement have done you no favours. For the the true victims I wish you healing and justice! For the liers and want to be victims I wish you look into yourselves and stop jumping on the backs of real victims. One false allegation causes so much damage in the findings of the real justice these women deserve.

I've seen a lot of his accusers cozying up to him after the times they claimed he'd been inappropriate towards them.
Gwyneth Paltrow being just one I can think of off the top of my head.
Not exactly ready to bend over backwards to believe these women anymore.
