      @@maximus11400 I don't agree, but that's fine, your opinion is yours...
      I prefer perennial because the song structure speaks to me in ways that "who's gonna be the one" can't, possibly because there isn't really a clear-cut theme throughout the whole song. It feels like two separate songs to me, whereas "Perennial" slides through several styles but maintains a theme.
      But again, you may have good reasons why you prefer the other one, you can ;-)

    Her tones and growl are natural. There was probably some small production in the mic, but it's mostly her talent and technique

    • @AleksandraVocalCoach
      @AleksandraVocalCoach  Před 3 lety +17

      Absolutely, I'd agree that the growl is natural. I just mean that the mic amplifies the sound and she is singing close to it which aids the proximity effect, so the growl as a voice effect doesn't need to be very loud.

      @@AleksandraVocalCoach Keep doing more of their songs! When you do some of their live videos you'll be even more impressed! • @dwarvensmith80
      @dwarvensmith80 Před 3 lety +3

      If you look in the description for the video, it says that this was done to let Vlad, new drummer, put his spin on the song. The growls, properly done false chord growls, were doubled in post to give her voice a bit of a break. If you want better examples of her vocal talent, may I suggest "Who Is Gonna Be The One" the official live, "Perennial" live at Wacken, and her one take vocal performance of "Judgement (&Punishment)", although I do recommend a double feature of that song, the official video and then the one take, just to see how damn good she is.
      And all this is with the support of the 3 amazing musicians in the band, without them, and Tatiana, Jinjer would not be even a tenth of what it is.
      EDIT - Those three suggestions are only the tip of the iceberg, they have so many amazing songs.

    I know a lot of people are going to give you some great performances in future recommendations... But I'm going to throw it the 'one take performance judgement and punishment' if you really want to analyze her. The video is solidly her from the waist up, you can watch her posture and technique and it really shows which stuff comes easily to her, and which parts she puts in the effort... Not saying you have to react to the video, but if you really wanna see how tatiana works, that is the best one I've seen.

    Think you are ready now for the greatest singer in Metal, Floor Jansen. Start with Ghost Love Score live from Wacken. Once you dive in that rabbit hole...

    • @palladinodessa8988
      @palladinodessa8988 Před 3 lety +2

      Tatiana might disagree... Floor is more operatic, Tati is pure power.

    • @tonybrelinski3710
      @tonybrelinski3710 Před 3 lety

      Yes, Floor is amazing, but I wouldn't say the greatest (one of the greatest, yes, but not the greatest). I would expect someone with as much training as Floor has to be extremely good at what she does (and she is). Floor also teaches voice, so I would expect her to be good. The really impressive thing is Tatiana has very little training and honestly stands toe to toe with Floor. Both are great, but just raw ability I'd have to give it to Tatiana. As far as metal singers or "operatic metal" singers go, Floor is very versatile, but again, I'd have to give Tatiana a bit of an edge in that category as well.
      It was Nightwish that got me into metal and more extreme music. So, no, I'm not dissing Nightwish or Floor here. I was extremely impressed with Floor (and still am). I still love Ghost Love Score, but that ship sailed awhile ago. The thing is with Nightwish, their stuff seems pretty much the same. Not saying it's not good, because they are very talented, but it's symphonic metal. Unfortunately, once you've heard one symphonic metal song, you pretty much heard most of them (even from band to band). They pretty much stick to one genre. I have to be in a particular mood to want to listen to it now. I can't say I like every song of Nightwish, far from it. But with Jinjer, I can say I like all their songs. Jinjer doesn't stick to one genre. No matter what mood I'm in, Jinjer seems to fit. They change it up within songs and between songs. I simply prefer the variety that Jinjer brings to the table more than Nightwish.
      So, no, that Nightwish rabbit hole didn't seem like much of a rabbit hole...

    I liked your analysis, subbed :) I study voice, so it's great to see these kinds of videos; entertaining and educational.
    I love watching vocal coaches react to Jinjer and analyze Tatiana's vocals. This is really just the tip of the iceberg. I love this song. It's all about the duality of Pisces (zodiac sign). Light and dark. Life and death. She portrays that very well. She always connects with the song and grabs your attention. Such great energy. She is also a Pisces as well as Eugene (the bassist). She wrote the lyrics and asked Eugene to help finish it. She writes the lyrics and vocal lines to all their songs (except for one song on their Micro EP and part of this one). The lyrics are always deep, meaningful, and poetic. The rest of the band is; Roman - guitarist and Vlad - drummer. All very excellent at what they do. Vlad also is a classically trained pianist as well as a guitar player. The guys compose the music and then hand it to Tatiana to do her thing.
    Speaking of crossing genres and styles; one of the amazing things about Tatiana is she is self taught. She had about 2 months of voice lessons when she was 8 years old and then just sang in any band she could sing in since, at one point she was in 8 or 9 bands (all different styles). She loves to jam and improvise. She sings all kinds of styles. She likes jazz, reggae, hip-hop, rock, pop, punk, funk, etc. She said her most influential/inspirational people are Bob Marley, Elle Fitzgerald, and Amy Winehouse. She loves Gwen Stefani as well. She taught herself how to scream/growl. Here's an interview that talks about that: czcams.com/video/UBrqWYMBm60/video.html&ab_channel=Loudwire
    If you want to hear more from Jinjer and Tatiana and you being a vocal coach, this is probably the one to do next (as has been suggested): Judgement (& Punishment): Tatiana Shmayluk - One Take Vocal Performance - czcams.com/video/Q5rg_63Shqg/video.html&ab_channel=JinjerMetalBand. Love this one. Great close up of Tatiana doing her thing. Awesome song. Lots of style switching in this.
    Then to see her on stage live and get a really good overall showcase of her all around singing check out, Perennial: Live at Wacken Open Air 2019 - czcams.com/video/bxi3i9wzQBk/video.html&ab_channel=NapalmRecords, Soaring vocals, soft singing and extreme vocals. Her stage presence is awesome as well.
    Oh and yeah, her growls/screams can be very loud (low and high). Who is Gonna Be the One: Live at Atlas 2017 - czcams.com/video/U6rv5qi8-8s/video.html&ab_channel=NapalmRecords shows that really well or Pit of Consciousness: Live in Kiev 2019 - czcams.com/video/vEhxuNuHWls/video.html&ab_channel=NapalmRecords. Both of these songs are pretty heavy songs and really showcase her extreme vocals well. Love both of these as well.
    Also, the only effects they have on her mic in a live session is a slight delay. You'll notice some doubling in this song, but that was from her recording some lines before the take then adding that during the take.
    They are awesome live. Going to see them for the first time in person this October. Can't wait!

    HI Aleksandra, I am one of your subs and found you because I am a Dimash fan. I was looking thru you listings and I think you have only done one Dimash ? I also noticed it has 204 thousand views. That is a very much larger number than many of you posts. Many of the voice teachers who do reaction videos to Dimash also do a group called Pentatinox. Both Dimash and Pentatinox especially, have huge CZcams followings. This adds thousands to you channel and that means you started getting paid by CZcams. It also gathers more to your fan base and more people will watch more of you videos. I am not complaining or trying to tell you what to do, I am just a fan of yours and making a suggestion as a fan and nothing more. You go to a lot of work to post a video, you may as well get more people to watch them as well as making some money while your at it. I would take some time to add several more Dimash videos. I would also add several by Pentatinox. Pentatinox has several years of posts on CZcams and I think I read somewhere they had collectively 4.5 Billion views of their songs. I think even in the UK that seems like a lot. They have a version of Hallelujah that has 612 million views ? If you hear it, it would be easy for someone with your background and training to know why. They are really next level of musical talent. What is really odd, they are an A Capella group ? Just like Dimash, they will startle you. I will leave a link and you can see what you think. Thanks Aleksandra, With love from Florida czcams.com/video/LRP8d7hhpoQ/video.html

    Dunno how much post production there is on a live session...
    But she sound exactly the same on a live scene, if they somehow jammed in post-production in the middle of a concert I'd be seriously impressed.

    I'm going to subscribe because I know you will be flooded with requests for more Jinjer. Although the vocal tracks were doubled in studio, "Perennial" Live at Wacken will show you that Tatiana is the real deal.

    You've got some good additional Jinjer recommendations below, and when you're ready to move on, give Spiritbox a listen, with their excellent vocalist Courtney Laplante. Similarly excellent range. E.g. The Mara Effect, Blessed Be and Rule of Nines. Bring your tissues for their Constance video.

    I think this will always be the best introduction for newbies to the band. It shows off the incredible talent of all the band members!
    Remember she’s using her false folds to growl. NO VOCAL CHORDS INVOLVED. The only vocal effects are when Tatiana’s singing, not when she’s growling.

  • @Gregorycrafter
    @Gregorycrafter Před 3 lety

    Welcome to metal(specifically progressive metalcore)! So basically how she is doing that is her vocal cords are open and the tissue above it (especially the false cords) flap around and create a bunch of overtones. Those overtones are then manipulated by the jaw, tongue, and lips. This technique is called false cord screaming. There is another technique that is commonplace which is fry screaming. The difference between false cord screaming is that the vocal cords are pretty close to closed and air is going through and making a static like sound. Both techniques are pretty safe as long as you know what you are doing and have warmed up. Also, both techniques are actually pretty similar to kargyraa throat singing(the difference between throat singing and harsh vocals is that in throat singing the vocal cords are phonating while in harsh vocal they are not). And, both techniques are actually able to get quite loud, like Alex Terrible actually usually performs one line without a mic(in the performance of their(slaughter to prevail) song demolisher).
    As you saw females are definitely capable of doing it. Here are some of the female screamers that I find really impressive(excluding Tatiana):
    1. Avienne Kiuttu (Vintersea - Crack of Light) (fry screams)
    2. Tanya Elizabeth (Monochomatic Black - Abaddon(vocal playthrough)) (false cord screams)
    3. Vicky Psarakis (The Agonist - Orphan) (fry screams & false cord screams)
    4. Chelsea Murphy (Dawn of Ouroboros - Spiral of Hypnotism) (fry screams)
    5. Som Pluijmer & Missi Avila (Your Chance to Die - Ignite the sky) (false cord screams)
    6. Ira Sidenko (Dehydrated - Sickness) (false cord screams)
    7. Yuna Imada (Passcode - Trace LIVE in Tokyo 2018) (fry screams)
    8. Lauren Hart (Once Human - Sledgehammer) (false cord screams)
    9. Eissa Zhovnerchuk (Morphide - Panopticon) (fry screams)
    10. Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy - Nemesis LIVE in Japan 2008) (false cord screams)
