Thank you. I had forgotten much about how to interact with my pupper. Specifically, assigning his trait/skill points. He is quite a useful pupper when you need to track an animal, I'm thinking I want to try using him more and level him up.
I do hope we get pointers and retrievers soon. Especially pointers. They'd be super useful with those upland bird species that require you to shoot them in flight.

I am quite excited for the dogs dlc. I will be naming my dogs after some hunting dogs in one of my favorite movies from my childhood called "Where the Red Fern Grows". The two dogs where named "Old Dan" and "Little Ann". If you haven't seen this early 70's movie it is well worth your time to check it out.
Im naming mine "Jack" after my favorite song "The Weight".

I love my hound, he is a tracking machine, however, I pet him and give him a treat to get him to "best friend", 5 min later, back to "content" at this point I don't care if he likes me or not, as long as he tracks my game.

Dogs love me, my friends say their dogs are only theirs when I'm not there, just not use to a dog not being my best friend, LOL. Also any word on the other dogs in game, the retriever and pointer? Was thinking a Beagle for small game would be cool as well.

How do you make them howl on console? I have the trait and everything but when i go to do it it say more on the praise whistle but nothing i do will make it do a howl any help?
I just got my dog and been leveling him up. So worth the dlc especially with night hunting. Could use tips on what to select for skills and bonding.

There is a quick access to pat the dog. Command it to sit then walk up to it until the icon shows for further commands, then just tap twice on the down directional pad.
I would like to know what the purpose of the howl command does, besides howling of course.

I believe the howl command is a trait you can select at a certain level, its meant for attracting wolves by howling like one
Great video :-). How near do you have to be to the (first) blood splatter in order to make the dog track and find the animal?
That changes as you level up your dog. And depending on which traits you choose. So far, I've leveled my pooch up to level 15 out of 30 and he picks up the blood from 60 metres. I think it'll get further the higher the dog levels up. :)
Hi, how do you unequip stuff now that down on the D-pad is for the dog? Or is there just always something in your hands now 🤔

I can bet my personal parts one of main reasons that they added dogs is
"Hunter Simulator 2" (though I did not bought that game) it came with
the dog, I mean it was one of main presentations for the game. I did not
wonder "if" but more on "when" will CotW add dogs in...

The down button on the dpad is now for the dog, it was and still says in the settings it’s for putting away your selected item, I now can no longer put away what I’m holding, ie- holding gun LB brings up the hunter mate and down dpad only does the dog! How can I now put away what I’m carrying? I hate running carrying something.
Press up on d pad now, cycle through and press A to select item.
@@LadyLegendXO thank you for a quick reply, yes I know you can select an item by going up on dpad, but I am still wanting to empty my hands like before, if I was holding the hunter mate I could down dpad to empty hands, same if I was holding a gun or binos. Has this feature now been removed?

I have a problem i saw a lvl 9 cape at my map yesterday and i wanted to kill him with the crossbow then i spooked him and i reset the time but he didnt come back i treid like 2 times to reset the time but hr was gone what can i do??
Did you turn your game off and on? Often when they're spooked, they can go off and drink in a different zone and not come back but if you turn your game off and on, he should come back to his original zone.

They’re tracer arrows. You buy them. Not a skill or perk.
Had something happen when hunting with the dog. We were tracking an animal and in one particular spot - (on the display for the the dog that shows what he's doing)- a "Critical Alert" showed up with a image of some kind of deer -- what did this mean?

I think they’re getting back to their zones but I don’t want to continue the grind til they fix codexes cause I’m going back to my old save file to save my codex.

On Xbox when you change to your different lodges you don’t crash when you change you go through the floor and it bugs out

I see this video came out a while ago, but could you answer some questions I have? ; Does the hound making sounds alert animals? Can animals see the hound? Some people run almost everywhere, some people say never run, what's you opinion?
I love the dog but he’s not perfect. He does shove you but if you remember to make your dog sit before you shoot, you’ll be fine. The dog doesn’t spook animals until you get to about 70 meters out. Then they can spook. I love the dog for tracking. But don’t take him along for bow hunting. He can spook them when you get too close!

You can own 25 but can only take out 1 at a time.

Don't know yet. I'll be checking my whitetail first thing once the patch drops. I sure hope so. It won't fix the level 4 and 5 whitetail spawning but if it fixes getting whitetail into their zones, that'd be SWEET!!!! :)

i have no clue, what they bring to the table. i have no problems, tracking animals and such.
maybe if we disable all the clues in the game, and play ultra realistic mode.
but hey, at least i can play with the dog^^
I actually felt the same way but now that I've been able to play with the dog, its awesome. Lots of times, even with a vital shot, the animal runs off and there's no blood tracks around it. Dog finds that first track before you even get to the vital blood. It saves a lotta time. And its a lotta fun. But you certainly don't have to play with a dog if you choose not to.
@@LadyLegendXO i played this game for over 500 hours. i have always blood tracks. no problems at all. but i play only singleplayer mode.
i am curious, if the wolfs respond to the howl of the dog. that would be nice^^

How do you give treat
Buy the treats at the storage locker under consumables. Equip them and then go right up to your sitting dog and the treat option will appear.
Will the dog barking spook nearby animals? And will animals get spooked if they see the dog instead of you?
Dog only spooks animals that are very close. Don’t take him bow hunting

No. They cannot be harmed or killed by you, another player or an animal.

Then it is broke... and tracking becomes useless.
Tracking is now in slow motion.
Sorry to hear that. Do you have your Hunt Club Beta on? That’s how the patch runs apparently to stop your dog from leveling up past level 15. Maybe get another dog. It should stop at level 15 til the patch hopefully.

I have already changed my dog. And it happened again.
The dog DLC function should work...
I have paid for that DLC.
Obviously I cannot utilize it unless it's below level 15.
And it rather blows anyway regardless of level attained.
Yet there are 30 levels for the dog DLC.
it'd be hilarious if fast travel left your dog to walk home. the countryside would be crawling with lost dogs howling for their masters and getting grumpy about being left high and dry
That would be amusing but when you fast travel, the dog is there waiting for you :)
