In terms of ratings and a one sided main event that was supposed to be a pickem, yeah I can’t think of too many more that went down like that. In terms of the actual fight itself, whilst it was a spectacle because of the magnitude of the fighters involved, it was too one sided. Khabib is right to be disappointed, the hype was that this would be a war, and it was not even close to one. All those years of teasing this fight, from a sportsmen perspective, it’s like a false high, you don’t even feel challenged. This is why it messed with Conor so much, because khabib took his manhood and ego so easily and there’s nothing Conor can really do about it. In a primal sense it’s easy to see why Conor would react that way, he’s the beta male in their equation, and that’s hard for some to take.
