- We had a wonderful day on the island of Omø - en.wikipedia.o.... We met a ton of wonderful people, made some fiskefrikadeller, ate fish and chips, got to ride a speedboat, and learned about the lighthouse. Oh, we also had a great meal at sunset at Omø Perlen - www.omoeperlen....
It was really a fantastic day and we can't wait to come back again. Thanks for everything Martin!!

Aaah, visiting Joshua's long lost danish brother
Damn you stole it. :-)
💀💀
😆😂
Title: American man meets Danish American sized man ;)
😃👍
daaam they look like brothers
17:14 -- We have a saying for this in Denmark! If you see someone with mismatched buttons on their shirt, we say "du har knappet til brændevin" ("at knappe til brændevin" - "to button for brandy"). It's in reference to sailors buttoning their shirts to leave a pouch for their hip flasks usually containing brandy or schnapps. So now you have that Danish saying in your arsenal - "buttoned for brandy" or "knappet til brændevin" :D
Love the video as usual, it's so sweet that Maya's boyfriend introduced Bobby into her life. All the best
İ am a Dane living 5000km from Denmark on the coast of south Turkey for the last 25 years. Thank you to you all 3 for showing me how beautiful my Home country is.
Always button your shirt from the top down
You live in Lyngby and you havn't visited the galop bane yet, 1st week in August is their Derby day. Take a vist.
If Maya is surprised by the chicken salad. She should try the "shrimp" salad, it has more macaroni than shrimp in it.
12:56
Perfect
Kyllingesalat is a bit ambiguous - it could refer to a salad with chicken with some dressing maybe or the kind Maya got. However, the proper name of what she got is "Hønsesalat" and with that there is no ambiguity.
It does seem rather heavy to just eat hønsesalat without rugbrød 😅
Usually when served as smørrebrød, it’s Named hønsesalat (hen salad) , but everyone uses chicken today, because we don’t have to eat an Old hen anymore. I would ask next time, even though most people would expect a chickensalad , like Maya did.
Twin brother on Omø 😎
Now I also had to visit Læsø and see the seaweed houses ... I am really looking forward to visiting Djursland and one of the most beautiful places in Denmark Mols and Helgenæs ..
OMØ is a beautiful place ….🥰🥰🥰
Agree with Joshua regarding the bridge. If I have to drive the car over it myself, I get anxious. Nice to see Omø 😊
GOOOOAAAALLLL Einhorn Finkel haha
Thanks once again for a great video, of another spot of the “paradise.” Called Denmark. I think it was a shame that you didn’t tried fiskefrikadellerne that is one of the nice dishes to eat with Remoulade and rye bread. Some how the salad that Maya got very much reflects Joshua’s view on the great belt bridge - both had some thing to do with chicken. On the other hand Maya might have to get a refund on the tuition fee for biology since she constantly refers to her stuffed cow as him named Bob - maybe you should tell her that cow’s are female, where as male animals of that kind is. referred to as bulls ore bull calf’s.
But at least the cucumber time is over.
Al ready looking forward to Tuesday, I really like you channal. 😉
I can't wait for Dexter either, I'm so exited ☺
where did he mention dexter?:D I presume you mean the tv series?
@@DKFX1 Yes the tv series
@@Zuzzanna but where did he mention dex in the video?
@@DKFX1 8:07
@@Zuzzanna thanks
Du har knappet til brændevin. Actually I have not heard that expression for ages.
Du har “knappet til øllebrød”
I’d say øllebrød, but it is apparently very much depending on where you’re from :)
@@TrekkieGrrrl Nej, knappe til øllebrød er en afart af udtrykket der er lige så dumt som at yngre folk ikke ved hvad en bjørnetjeneste er.
I LOVE OMØ!!!❤❤❤❤ My grandfather grew up on Omø, lived in one of the houses out by the lighthouse and went to that little school. My middle name is Omø because of my grandfather being from the island. I would love to move to Omø and enjoy the quiet life. 😉❤❤❤ So glad you liked it. 😁❤❤❤
Ever been to "stævnsfortet"..?
If you're in to a little post war/cold war scenario. Just visit the bunker at the fort.
I learn new things about my homecountry every time I watch one of your videos😊 love it! I’m very exited to be going to Fanø for the first time this summer. Will let you know what’s to see and do.
Cool, have a great time!
Skinkesalat =ham salat. You need to read up on danish history,in the old days farmers used to work for the rich, and that why the houses are concregated in small towns (landsby)housing were part off the payment for their work. Around 1750 farmers began getting their own land as part of payment for their work and they began moving out off the "landsby" the big rush was in the late 1800s and the beginning off 1900.
love the gladiator field intro
Haha, thanks! Doesn’t necessarily fit, but it was fun :).
@@TravelinYoung Haha reminded me of some viking stuff
Homemade fiskefrikadeller (like the ones you helped make), served with new potatos and "remoulade sauce".... Mmm-mmm-mm-mm-MM 😍😍😋😋😋
Glad you went there. Love that island. Have been there several times. It is a great place to stop when you go by sailboat.
great tour guide 👍😀
Thanks!
Lol, the nightmare bridge.. Another great video/edit job.
About the chicken salat they also failed in that ( the Restaurant) , its called Hensalat/ Hønsesalat what she got , because a Chicken ( kylling) salat is exactly what she should have got
I have no doubt it was a mistake on our part. It probably said hønsesalat and we didnt put two and two together. Maya has some dietary restrictions so she was focused on the ingredients list as opposed to the name.
Actually, you can board the ferry for free from today and until the 31. of august as long as you walk on the ferry! The same goes for the Agersø ferry too :) My in-laws has a sommerhus over at Omø, so we spend a lot of time on Omø in the summer time. It is absolutely one of my favorite places to visit :)
Lovely seeing you visit omø 😁, it really is just one of Denmark’s many hidden gems. My family and I visit there at least once a year, so it really is somewhere you easily can fall in love with
It was such a wonderful place. I do want to visit again and spend more time. I suspect a long weekend is in our future :).
Josh i am sorry in advance, but you guys need to try a Stjerneskud (shooting star) at one of the sea restaurants
If you ask for something named salat in denmark, its with mayo :) Russiansalat, Italiansalat, Tunsalat, Kylling, frugt(wiskedcream), skinkesalat... and the list goes on.
So if you just ask for salad do you get a plate full of mayonnaise?
@@galdessa1 yes and no :) That didn't help did it.
For some reason at some point in time, we decided that if need to sell this it sounds better if its a salad, so lets take some Chicken, why not mix that up with some mayo, asparagus and often bacon, you have a salad. We do that with Tuna, Ham and a lot of other stuff. If you go to a danish supermarket, you will see rows of this :) most of it is used on smørbrød as condiment of sorts.
@@Joliie Yes, but it seems to be 95% mayo.
Look at your feet when you kick the ball, it helps keep it down :)
You should visit Samsø
Maya and I did actually back during week 42 last year. It is very cool :).
Maya, you should read "What cows know about life" by Rosamund Young :0)
Aye that’s awesome that you sent to Omø, i actually have a piece of land there. That’s awesome
Actually its really close to where you Stayed.
Jealous :). Super chill place.
You should go to Greenland!:-)
Forgive me but it was not Submarines but Russian freight-ships with Missiles for Cuba.
It was also the Danish Air Force that took the pictures to prove it!!!
Well, if you're going for, 'let's island hop' then you'll be in DK for quite some time 🤔🤣
Can't knock it though, it's a fantastic way to get some quiet time and relax 🧭🚤🚲⛱
btw, couldn't not notice, the similarities between you and Martin 👍🤣
hello from Hundested 🌸🌱
Was any one else expecting Josh to smash a window with the football in the school building behind the goal with his somewhat alternative penalty kicking "style"? 😜
Another fantastic video where you visit New places in DK.
But now you really has to visit Pangea Park in Bjaeverskov, Køge. It will really be a fantastic Day for you guys. Where you Can hold snakes and baby tortousies and maybe even cuddle with some baby foxes.
Also there are beautiful albino Wallabys.
You also need to visit the elephants in Knuthenborg plz😂♥️😍
Few things are better than fiskefrikadeller with remoulade.
Brisket certainly got wind in his hair on the speedboat ride.
Next time, visit Skælskør :)
Another nice video.
You should see if you can find time to visit Tønder near the german border, and the beautiful marshland that surrounds it. It's Denmarks oldest royal borough and the marshland is on UNESCO's World Heritage list.
I have not been there. Nice show.❤️
No fricking way! Dexter is returning? Epic!
Oh.. And by the way - Love your channel, like reaaally love it :D
It's because fresh fish doesn't smell. Also nice to see some of Joshua's family lives on Omø.
Btw have you guys been to fur?
Haha yep the name salat is a lot different here it confuses quite a few people 😄
We’ve not been to fur yet, but we will get there :). Need to save some places for next year and the year after :).
@@TravelinYoung True maybe the mobile reception has been upgraded since I was there some years ago. You know it’s bad when the brochure actually shows where there is reception 😂
I don't know if you've been to Den Gamle By in Århus. It's a working museum. There will be most activity by museum staff during school holiday. It has old buildings from all over Denmark, that was taken down brick by brick and rebuilt at the museum. You can check out their website at dengamleby.dk they have an english version there. It's the union jack flag at the top.
We have a couple of time, it is a super cool place to visit. One of the reasons I love Aarhus :).
Next time You're take a road trip try Fyn (Fionia).
1. Nyborg = 1st permanent royal residence in DK (not capital).
2. Storebæltsbroen, the bridge you love so much
3. Odense, birthplace of HC Andersen
4. Svanningebakker in Fåborg
5. Bridgewalking in Middelfart
6. Refvindinge brewery, the one, that in my opinion, kickstarted the microbrewery movement in DK
7. Ørbæk brewery, all organic
8. Midtfyns Bryghus, founded and owned by an american Eddie.
In 2005, there was a collision with the bridge and a container ship. The bridge won. So don’t worry.
Big animal with delicate hands..
That's what we call T-rex
I think Josh must be an relative to the fishermann ;) And hey why is the fisherman man not in the Olympics? Looks like he can carry the whole Danish National team on his shoulders :)
buttoned skewed in a old danish saying "Knappet til brændevin"
You guys still look super sharp in 360p :D
I love _fiskefrikadeller._ I just never really had them growing up because my dad didn't like them :'(
Fiskefrikadeller er det bedste! på rugbrød med remonaise og en citronskive! Husk purløg.
As for the "chicken salad" you eat that as a spread on rye bread... and what you want is a "green salad with chicken" :)
Oh dear. Not Omø. They are not quite right in the heads over there ;)
(and yes, I live on the other island just north of Omø).
Why Nightmare bridge? Bit scared of heights perhaps in general or what? 😊
Ha yeah, terrified of heights and I can't swim. The bridge brings the best of all my fears :).
@@TravelinYoung
What about driving through tunnels?
In those you either got an unknown amount of mountain or ocean above you.
@@kasperkjrsgaard1447 true but I guess out of sight out of mind. They don’t but me really.
you must go and come to FUR Ø and taste beer
You can`t always win, but sometimes would be nice.
Btw you did kind a score on your first penalty shootout, if it was American football it would have counted as a field goal.
Though the Cuban missile crisis, started by cargo ships carrying badly camouflaged ballistic missiles, not submarines.
Damn good music starting at 12:05 and later on...Who is playing?
So Joshua; do you get weirded out, or do you instantly feel super comfortable, meeting people who look like that?
You have seen more of Denmark than I have... and I have livede here for 51 years.. yeah.. the first 4 seasons of Dexter were ok.. the rest sucked :)
The season with the trinity killer (John Lithgow) was superb.
@@TravelinYoung yup 😁 season 4
Where can I buy a cow like Bobby?
First I thought I was drunk and saw two josh's took me a bit of time to see who was who
Well done :).
That lighthouse what a sight
Where was you guys said omø was?
And Josh nice goal ;)
@@runethedane8895 it is about a 45 minute ferry ride off Sjælland. The ferry leaves pretty close to the great belt bridge, you can see it from just about everywhere.
Uh okay thanks so much for the information gotta try and visit someday in the near future looks hyggeligt have great day guys
Mvh. Rune
Got here so fast that youtube hasn't even rendered video quality above 360p.. Will come back later :')
You kow you're extra early, when it says "no views".
CZcams seems a mess today. It was uploaded last night and never got processed so I had to re-upload it this morning.
We have a saying in Denmark!
"Overskudet går til et større mål!"
Which means the surplus (over the goal) goes to financing a bigger Goal!!!!
He could be your twin
15:33
Real talk:
What is the fear of bridges about?
That's like a video for the future.
Hell, you do the "bridge walk" on the Lillebæltsbroen and do the whole "win against the fear" or just let us laugh at your expens.
Storebæltsbroen really is the stuff of nightmares 😱 I don’t blame Josh for disliking it. I’ve only crossed it once by car and it felt like certain death :/ (yes. Once. I convinced the family to take the ferry home!)
@@TrekkieGrrrl But why?
Bobby - a white cow - hvid ko - kovid?
Okay, i’ll find myself out,,,,,,,
Damn....I worry about your health sometimes, you really should exercise 30 min everyday or 60 min every other day, you can even go 1,5 hours every 3 days. Your body will feel and work like a dream, food tastes better and it also makes drinking alcohol feel a whole lot better to, you simply get the full experience. Plus a lot of health benefits in general, more energy, better concentration, better immunesystem and these things make you happy 😊 only do exercise you like to do, otherwise it gets to be a chore. Do yourself a favor and search the internet for health benefits of exercise it is AMAZING the impact it has on the body, examples - up to 2 liters more blood, stronger heart in every way, pumps out more blood per contraction and with more force, the volume of blood your heart can hold and pump out is bigger, the puls or sinus rythm becomes more stabil and strong/clear and prevents heart attacks, your arteries also become more elastic, which propagates the flow of blood around the whole body and prevents blood clots, prevents and betters diabetes...hope you can use this for something positive in your life, CHEERS !
I prefer real frikadeller to fish frikadeller, but the fishy ones have a lot less fat.
Never buy fish cakes at the super market as they are vacuum packaged little mistakes that taste like margerine, only the remoulade lifts the taste a little so it's better make them yourself. 🧜♂️🧜♀️
I was raised and spoiled by fiskefrikadeller. You just don't buy them in the store, you have to find your own flavor.
But it's fishy business
In this heat it must have hurt
