  • This is my one stick hunting setup. I one stick while saddle hunting. I find it to be one of the easiest ways to get to hunting height in almost any tree in the woods. I hope this video helps you decide if you want to try one stick hunting this fall.

Your dog is hilarious. I have a lab that is constantly breathing heavy like that for all the audio to capture. Nice video.

You do a good job of explaining the basic method , with hunting clothes, backpack, in the dark, cold weather I don’t think I could pull it off safely

Marvelous idea you suggested about putting in a second loop to your girth knot.😊😊

Suggestion friend. Employ a backup below your madrock, connecting your canyon rope to your right lineman loop using either a ropeman or (my favorite) a simple clove hitch. Great vid! Happy hunting.

Something I've ended up doing that work better for me. I climb with a 9' tether with a end of rope loop, I prefer the dbl dragon loop( would be your linesman's rope). I use my rappel line with a quick link as a linesman if needed. This completely eliminated the need for a ohm locker or twist wire as the loop doesn't have the extra weight of a metal link so it stays easier. When I'm ready to descend I just hook up the rappel and stow the tether.

Do you have a video on that stopper not that you tied when at the top during your hunt?

Great information for the beginner like myself. I will be Saddle Hunting for the upcoming 2024 deer season for the first time. I will be recovering from a total knee replacement I'm getting done June 20th. Do you think one sticking is easier on the knees compared to just buying 4 steps?

You should try the S.M.A.R.T. one stix method.

Im no expert, but I read somewhere that Madrock warns against using a knot below the device. Instead it is suggested to back up with an autoblock on your lineman's loop. FWIW

If you add the platform attachment to that stick, it would eliminate having the other platform

Read the manual on the safeguard. You're supposed to have your hand on the rope at all times. It's a belay/rappel device. Shouldn't be used as your main connection point like that.
