    Quick question, I ordered one of these yesterday and I got a confused answer if this rifle can shoot a .308, the guy at the store said this rifle is chambered in 7.62 and a .308 is more powerful and could damage the gun. When I told him everything I saw online said it could fire both a 7.62 and .308 he said another distributor had it in .308. I just want to make sure when I finally get to bring it home that it will handle a .308 just fine and I don’t have to worry thanks.

    I own a 716I snakebite.....My biggest knock is Sig choosing a carbon steel barrel chambered in 7.62x51 instead of .308. You marketed a target/hunting barrel with a battle caliber chamber. The worst combo. Should have been a CMV barrel if your goal was anything but competition/hunting, and a .308 chamber if your goal was only competition/hunting.

  • @Eldrake
    @Eldrake Před 4 lety +8

    He said 308...is it safe to shoot 308 through this 7.62 NATO barrel? I've always read that overpressure and thinner walled 308 is dangerous in a 7.62 designed barrel. Can this shoot both safely?

    • @chriscoffman9991
      @chriscoffman9991 Před rokem

      This can safely shoot .308 Win. It is a higher pressure than standard 7.62 Nato, but the rule of thumb is to always check with the manufacturer, as you can't always rely on barrel markings. Sig has repeatedly verified that this rifle (and all 716 series) can safely and reliably shoot 308win as well as 7.62 NATO. The barrels are probably marked 7.62 NATO as they are being sold en mass on international military contracts where metric (and NATO standard cartridges) are used, i.e. India now placing their second order for select-fire 716i rifles (another 70,000 I believe?)

Yet here is this video still up and people are still watching this thinking they are getting an ambi charging handle. I watched these videos prior to buying the gun. I was disappointed to see NO ambi charging handle. For a lefty, it matters. Then to find out that the charging handle is a proprietary item that cannot be replaced.
