    We test drove the MDX, Palisades, Highlander and CX 9 and wound up buying the CX 9 based on the drive. We lose a little bit of cargo space but the CX 9 drove and handled the best out of that group. It's a very underrated car but should be appreciated more bc it offers alot for the money.

      Paulog1990 keeping them uniform allows them to provide one of the best infotainment systems in every car for cheap. When you're in the CX-9, it actually feels like the perfect size. Plus it has the capacity for updates to the hardware, and it won't be a flawed and choppy headache in 1.5 years like most luxury cars.

    I had one as a loaner.. The base sound system SUCKS. Get the Bose. The power and handling are shockingly great and I loved the size of it because it was easy to park and maneuver in tight parking lots. I wish it had cooled seats, CarPlay, 2.0v USB ports up front and a pano roof. Also, I kind of wish the USBs were towards the front instead of the back of the center console. USB 1 and USB 2 seemed backwards to me. If you're shopping for a family car, buy it. It's amazing.

    I'm surprised that the CX9 Signature doesn't have panoramic roof, cooled seats, heated steering wheel and factory remote start. It will definitely be a none purchase other competitors have this and a lower cost. Was disappointed was looking forward to owning one really like the look and hope in the future Mazda will have those options. Also hopefully direct injection is better than Ford's Ecoboost.

    • @Josh-179
      @Josh-179 Před 7 lety

      Everyone keeps talking about panoramic roof, cooled seats, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, etc. Yes, other models do have those features but only in the highest trim in most cases. Such as Highlander - you have to get the Limited Platinum at thousands more than this CX-9 signature. Even with KIA, you have to pay $46K+ on an SXL to get all these top features on the Sorento. Aside from that, no other model drives as nice, has as nice of an interior, as nice design, etc. CX-9 is a great deal!

    • @anthonymacneil2279
      @anthonymacneil2279 Před 7 lety

      - JPL - At $52,000 in Canada I expect those options on the top of the line Signature. Yes it has heated steering wheel but that all. Mazda step up and add those options and listen to your customers

    • @Josh-179
      @Josh-179 Před 7 lety

      Anthony Macneil
      I'm talking US dollars. Signature is $44K in US. Thousands less than the top trims of other models that have those features. As long as you want to spend thousands more, then yes, Mazda could offer them - except PANO roof which goes against Mazda's dynamic philosophy.

    • @anthonymacneil2279
      @anthonymacneil2279 Před 7 lety

      - JPL - That's my whole point at $52,000 Canadian plus freight and tax those options should be standard on Signature. The less expensive competition offers that on their top models. Oh well its like fighting a dead horse it is what it is maybe the 2018 will offer those options on Signature until then I won't buy. Just I became it's Mazda doesn't make it any better in my opinion. Maybe it's time they start listening to what the customer wants not what they think is better.

    • @ztek7104
      @ztek7104 Před 7 lety

      I cross-shopped the CX9 (Sig trim), Highlander (Ltd), Explorer (Platinum), Pilot (Touring) & RX350 (Exec pkg) and ended up buying the CX9 due to its best value for money. Sure it doesn't have pano roof and other features you mentioned but you can also find other features missing from other models that the CX9 have (Nappa leather, HUD, driving dynamics, etc). Besides, all the other top trim models cost thousands more than the CX9 and $12K more for the RX350 with similar features & spec! For the remote start, not all top spec models too have that as Std so I simply had a remote start installed (part of deal from dealer) that's better than factory installed as it had a 1km range! At end of the day it boils down to the vehicle that ticks most of the boxes!

      You are right. But I don't know the reason why but I think the heated steering wheel is available in the GT and GS trims but not in the top of the line Signature. I'm pretty sure is the same in Canada and the States.

      I just checked the brochure I got from the dealer with all the features per trim, and it says that the Canadian model has heated steering wheel standard in all trims (including the Signature), except for the base GS. So I was wrong in my comment above.

    I actually rented an Audi q5 while my Lexus was in shop. Got the call it was totaled and found this beautiful car for sale… now tbh I hated that it resembled the Audi so much bc the Audi seats were SOOOO stiff and uncomfortable but I’m hoping it’s better in this Mazda. Other than that, a lot of cosmetic similarities too, key fob as well, which is okay. I think I’ve just been traumatized by the Audi rental shoving me all over the road thinking I was out of my lane with our bad roads here in Louisiana… But nonetheless mazda is beautiful and I’m still excited.

    • @Josh-179
      @Josh-179 Před 7 lety +1

      They used to, although the naming was different. Remember the 929? When the 6 was the 626 and so on. Then there was the Millenia. Hopefully Mazda brings back a sedan for the premium segment but if they can't get Mazda6 sales up, that won't happen. If they put this new turbo in the 6 as an option, sales would finally climb.

      - JPL - Yea but to be quite honest, apart from their sports cars(RXs, MXs) they used to be really shitty and nobody would even consider buying it. But now, they are incredible beautiful and very well executed IMO.

  • @brandondannys-menary3678

    If I could have one wish for a car manufacturer, it would be that Mazda could get the fame and recognition it deserves. This car is nicer than the audis, BMWs, a lot of Mercedes and much more in this class. If it had 50 more hp it would be comparable performance wise too. It has the appearance, interior, drivability and much other things
    Edit: they also need to put this engine in the cx5 because I would without a doubt consider buying that in a couple years haha

    Hello I wanted to ask you a quick question. Im looking into three vehicles for a possible purchases. They're the Mazda CX-9, Acura MDX, and the Infiniti QX60. In your testing which one would be the best option to buy? Thanks in advance.

    • @theredline
      @theredline  Před 7 lety +7

      We haven't tested the latest 2017 MDX and QX60 but have driven the pre-refreshed models and can tell you the newest CX-9 is our favorite. While the Infiniti and Acura do have some features that are not available on the CX-9, the Mazda actually has some features not available on the other two. You really need to drive all 3 and see if you're willing to pay the extra $10,000 for the luxury brands.

    • @mattmolloy636
      @mattmolloy636 Před 7 lety +13

      David Campbell go with the CX-9. In terms of luxury, you don't get anything for the extra cash from Acura/Infiniti that this Mazda doesn't already have.

      Honestly only thing you would be missing is the speed from the MDX otherwise the QX60 is slow and offer the same equiment as the CX9 and the CX9 drives and looks better IMHO. The cargo compacity however is not that great im CX9.

  • @TheCobruhAlienat0r

    Is a 4 cylinder the only engine choice? I'd be worried about longevity because a 4 cylinder lugging around that heavy SUV plus passengers/cargo and a turbo on top of that is pushing it to its limit so I wouldn't be surprised if the engine would need a rebuilt 6-8 years down the line.

    • @theredline
      @theredline  Před 8 lety +1

      TheCobruhAlienat0r 4-cylinder only! Longevity is definitely always a concern, especially with an all-new design but you could always add an extended warranty if you plan to keep the vehicle a long time.
