What a mess of a season... 😱😱😱 Carrie going to the wedding would have made more sense than a 80% of the guests.
They should give Laurel, and Jennifer an award for sticking with it to the bitter end.
My expectations were low and I was still disappointed.
Found it really interesting that the minute the final episode aired, Sepi gave an indepth thank you to fans for their support. It was like she couldn't say anything until this shit show was over. I feel bad for Ari too. They should all run as far away as possible.

Bette normally looks like she's walked out of a fashion magazine. I didn't like their suits. I expected more. Leisha and Kate play off of each other so well. All Gen Q stories should have wrapped in 3x09. 3x10 should've been mainly about Bette and Tina. The guest list should have been the cast from the original. It really hurts that we waited 20 years for this event for Marja to cut it down to damn near a commercial. This is not how you honor your loyal fans. This is not how you show thanks to Jennifer and Laurel for all of their hard work that they've poured into these characters. We didn't even get a love scene. Seeing that connection is important too. They were gone for 6 episodes. So 3x10 should have been TiBette centric. I'm happy they got their happy ending but im still disappointed.

I understand why not everyone liked Dani in that episode, but I personally laughed too, and I was ok for me, although I'm not even a drug fan
@@damnronin I did laugh too, I guess it made me nervous that she would do a Tess and create a scene. I think I just also wanted more from the episode in regards to B&T love story.
The season had so much POTENTIAL that was never realized...sadly.
I think the lack of Shane and Alice screen time this season too has really highlighted that this show has been relying upon the OG cast. I don't see myself watching an L Word with only the GQ cast. The new characters are so badly written that I literally care about none of them. A few minutes of Tasha turning up as a firefighter and explaining that she struggled with Alice not being over Dana was more interesting than three seasons of Sophie's bullshit.
Group dynamic with layered characters is so important. Jenny was a pain in the arse but she was interesting and added an important dynamic to the group. Kit as an older, wiser member of the group who had a tonne of life experience but still hadn't got her life together was so important. They've not got the balance right or developed layered, interesting characters. This show was always more character driven than plot driven. We tuned into the people and how they interacted with each other!

I’m praying this isn’t the end. Because if it is, it’s more disappointing than the end of the OG season 6. JB & LH we’re consummate professionals, Leisha & Kate did the best with what was handed to them, Jamie was given no chance to shine and Angie just got thrown a sh*t story.
My only hope is that the reaction is noticed at ST & P+ and they somehow.. somehow manage to pull it together and rescue this show. New SR, new writers, JB, KM, LH & LH to become EPs with Tibette being the heart but only making guest appearances while developing the other cast members. We need stories for the older generation who grew up with the OG, there are stories to tell!
Angie should have brought Bella because she would have been a hilarious addition to the scene AND B and T KNEW who she was!!!

The difference between L Word and Gen Q is the quality of the writing. Chaiken wasn't writing and it really showed. They never presented any story lines with substance. It was a big money grab with lots of Executive Producer titles for former L Word stars. Exec Producers make big bucks for smaller contributions. They owe viewers an apology at the least, which they will never get. Beals and Holloman should be mortified by this ending.
It should have been a two hour season finale.
Its a total trainwreck of chaos, with no storylines, no sense, just awful
I was literally laughing outloud at the ridiculously unrealized script. It was sooo bad. I posted on the Lex app. about how bad it was, and this lady wrote me and got mad at me for stating my opinion. She said, that the L word didn't owe it to me to create story lines that show people's growth. Just crazy! And all the wierd drug use. I was saddest about Shane's fallback. I really liked the potential I saw in that story line toward the end. But they just ruined it all with that dumb hook up.
Im just happy, even though it was short screen time, we still got to witness the historic lesbian couple Tina and Bette finally getting married. The characters really changed and effected so many of us. We finally got an happy ending for 20+ year going TV show lesbian couple :)❤ Thank you thank you thank you for being on this journey 🥹❤️🤞🏼😘

The Tibette wedding was not about Bette and Tina. It was about Tess, it was about Dani, and it was about Sophie. Micah and Maribel should not have been in the episode. Pippa shouldn't have been at the wedding. I have said it before, and I will say it again how in the hell was there not a Tibette sex scene before the wedding or after they left the wedding. We need to see Kate's directors cut, and we need to see Leisha's directors cut. I feel like Marja disrespected Kate by not listening to Kate. On PANTS, Kate repeatedly said what she wanted for Shane and got nothing. Do you agree with me that Marja disrespected Kate? In the delusional world of Marja, she believes she gave Tibette fans what they wanted, but to me, she gave fans the finger well, driving her bus into the ditch.

Jess, THANK YOU for mentioning these bloody outfits. The episode was a hot mess but I can't even get on board with the photos from this because the outfits are so awful. If you showed anyone who didn't know this show a photo from this wedding you would have no idea Bette and Tina were the two getting married. In the leaked photo from Karine it looks like Shane is the one getting married as she has a flower on her lapel. When I think of some of the stunning clothes these two have been in over the years, I can't believe this is how they dressed them for their wedding. They looked like they'd just got back from a late night business meeting. The bright red of Tina against Bette's black was so jarring. The worst pant suits I've seen them both in.

thank you to all 3 for your reactions on this last episode. The real question today is: who can write and direct a series with the L word and finance it? There is an already acquired public visible and invisible. Given what happened in this season, I absolutely do not believe in the return of other OGs if there was a 4th season, without having read the scripts before and with the one who drove the bus in the ravine.
The one thing you did not bring up was the time line.... Bette and Tina walk down the steps and its broad daylight... then the chaos with Tess and then they continue their wedding and its dark or nighttime. All that crap with Tess could not have taken what 20 minutes in real life??? It takes the sun a little longer to go from bright day light to total night.
That conversation between Alice and Tasha was a retcon. Throughout their 3 seasons of being together in the OG, Alice never brought up Dana. So how can Tasha say now that Alice couldn’t stop talking about Dana? They had other issues, but certainly not Dana or even Alice being famous. The writers really need to watch the OG.

If there was any question if the sr could improve. It was proven she cannot. Since we don't know what was cut, mabye all the good dialog was scrapped. We need Leisha to tell us what she directed... The attire looked purposeful to make tibette look old. About all the unknowns at the wedding...Marja doesn't know Bette and Tina enough to be able to write for them. There just seemed much rl jabs in this episode as to what was going on for three years. You say ST was forced to bring endgame. JB says it was supposed to happen sooner? WHAT IS THE TRUTH?
I loved the softer Helena. She learned about life without mommy's money. That's the Helena I really liked.

Idk thats my dream cast for L word and they had all these people before but never kept them long enough!!!
Guys, I felt the finale was an insult to Ilene and all of the OGs. I can understand why Kate and Leisha were upset on Pants. That mess wasn't what they shot. Also, Ash, Chris should watch the entire OG from the pilot onward if she wants to see good lighting, beautiful women and passionate lovemaking.

Thank you for noticing the 180 of Tina regarding Bette's calmness. I thought it very strange.
What I still want to know is what broke Bette and Tina up in the first place. We have seen Tina's explanation to Angie and then her one minute rant to Bette, but is that it? Really... after 15 years of this being Bette's personality, it suddenly was a problem??? That does not make sense either. And remember, Bette told Shane in Season 1, she really did not know what broke them up. I believe Bette was speaking from her heart on that.

The edit was shocking. It was so messy. Bette in clingfilm, without an explanation, made it so obvious that it had been edited and it took away from the illusion that you are watching all there is to see. It messes with the story. I'm not sure you're supposed to notice obvious cuts?! From the writing, to editing, to the costumes, it feels like the show is in the hands of inexperienced kids.

Background extras/ MLR’s friends. sigh. The storyline of the fridge was so overdetermined. and we never got the scene of why/ how bette gets wrapped in plastic wrap. I would love to have seen that.
Talking to Heidi at the finale party made me realize a lot of what happens isn’t scripted: it’s a lot of improv which makes a storyline really hard to maintain. I wonder how much of their lines LH and JB wrote, I would bet a lot of it.
The episode felt really flat and chaotic at the same time: watching the clips of T&B in isolation was okay, but as soon as they were juxtaposed with the other scenes it just sucked the life right out of it. Even JB and LH’s chemistry couldn’t rescue it. But also, is addiction and drugs the only way of developing characters these writers understand? This is so not what we as a community need and are. I can’t even with Micah and Maribel’s scenes there is so much poorly done in them with a disability politic of interdependence. (See also writing experiences and identities you don’t have) Also the rates of success with at home kits? Oof.

Thanks for a great discussion, everyone. I love that you were able to talk for an entire hour and not mention Sophie. She is truly the Jenny Schechter of this show. The way MLR used her as a mouthpiece in Ep9, her complete obsession with trying to make Sophie happen, and no one cares. I laughed so much at that. Also you didn't mention the fact that Tasha was feeling some kind of way about Jamie at the end of TLW, so this whole 'Alice was still in love with Dana' thing is, I think, a retcon device to make sense of bringing Erin Daniels back. It doesn't (shock) make actual sense in the show's canon. I absolutely loathed Pippa in this episode. Two-faced or what??? If she's really friends with Bette, then why the smirking schadenfreude re the fridge? And if she's not truly her friend, why go to the wedding? I think Finley is becoming really well-drawn. If there's an S4 and none of the OGs are in it, I could just about watch it for Finley and Carrie.
Guys remember when the season just started 😢 and we got see B and T kiss for the first time in like 12 years! 😫

Ash, Chris and Jess - thank you for giving us your thoughts on this episode and on Season 3... I think you actually made it more palatable. You at least inspired me to give the show a chance. For that I am grateful.... I must say that I did enjoy the episodes with Bette and Tina the best. The return of Dana and Tasha were a nice touch. But I feel like that was just a tease to keep the audience connected to the show. I do not feel that Marja has any intent on improving or featuring the OGs in future shows. They are not her creations and she has no real love for who they are and the potential they could give the show. The fact is, I do not think that Marja loves any of her characters... as they all are rather dismal and struggle far too much with being who they are. She has no real story arc for any of them and that for me disqualifies her from being a proper showrunner.

Angie who rushes to her mothers wedding with the other narcissist and then leaves to find her roommate? Really? No OG friends of the couple... The only moment that moved me was when Shane grabbed Tasha for a hug with a huge smile and the conversation between Alice and Tasha, proof that we've all moved on, I loved it, but locking up the queens of the day in a fridge, really...

I know the episode was disappointing, but I loved every moment with the OGs. Only if.. only if we had the episode longer. The picture Jennifer Beals posted was that time under the episode 1 hour and 51 minutes. Was that how much clip time they had? I could be wrong im just wondering.
I think Tina did leave Bette for Carrie, a “masculine” women instead of another man. It makes complete sense.

So many comments on Gen Q are very OG focused. Is it only obvious to me that Showtime wanted to gain the OG audience but Gen Q is hardly a reboot. It's a spin off, at best. And the focus is intended to be on the new Gen Q characters. I only fault them for making it seem like it was a reboot.
I agree this is a spin off show. But that aside, the last episode was supposed to be about tibette , so they should have had, at the least, half the episode for the wedding. I liked Finleys progression this season, and carrie. I am glad micah stood up for himself ....finally. (though also think it shouldn't have been in this episode.)
I believe you are spot on. Example- “Black-ish” and their spin off of their children “Grown-ish” … I for sure feel tricked & didn’t know there wasn’t going to be a clean up episode this past Friday 1/27/23- because I would have ended my subscription to SHOWTIME which I am doing today.
I thought they said "the carpenter," not Carmen, although Carmen makes more sense as they already said Candace.
Gen Q has been such a struggle to watch. I don't ever bother to re-watch like I did with original...Never struggled with L Word original.

S3: Haphazard. Disastrous. Chaotic. Nonsensical. That’s what comes to mind. Especially the finale.
If there is a S4, an infusion of OGs will be needed. My first choices are also Rachael Shelley and Sarah Shahi to return as Helena and Carmen. I’ve never understood the reluctance to bring them back to the series thus far (and never bought into the BS heritage excuse about Sarah). Also will need Rose Rollins to return as Tasha. But really this series is on serious life support at this point and as bad as we need a WLW series, I am left to wonder if a new project with these actors plus Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey might be a better prospect. Of course it has to be funded and endorsed by a network, which is a tall task, so all of my wishes may merely be conjecture.
They have baited everyone this season by hitching their ride to Bette, and Tina's popularity, and love of their fans. I have just lost so much respect for whoever is responsible for GenQ. period. I feel bad for the cast who had to read this childess, ridiculous dialogue, and insane storylines. OG's please go do your own spin-off. Feel really bad for Jennifer, Laurel, Kate,and Leisha. Such a huge disappointment.
