    Ha.. Your using factory ammo for the Five-seveN.. Try some Elite Ammunition T6b, the Penatrator, Or Vanguard Outfitters Black Dragon Fang.. If I can stop any of those, I'd be impressed.

    Our last video post on Back Face Deformation was so much fun we wanted to share this again smile emoticon!
    AR500 Armor® Hybrid IIIA Soft Body Armor vs. FN 5.7x28 & 12 Gauge Slugs using ballistics gelatin (not clay). This test is designed to show penetration, if any.
    www.ar500armor.com/ar500-…/level-iiia-body-armor.html
    **Ballistics Gelatin (as used in this video) is typically used for measuring penetrating depth of a round. It is also a very good simulation of soft tissue. Penetration and/or tearing would be very clear if any occurred.
    **Ballistics Clay (as used in our previous video) is not meant to replicate human media or tissue, but instead allows back face deformation measurements to be obtain to gauge performance to an industry standard. The visual effect is more significant, as is required to obtain a measurement.
    When watching body armor test videos it’s very important to understand what you’re watching, and what’s being measured.

    I want them to do something like this for April fools, but when they cut it open there are no bullets, just candy. Then mariachi music starts playing and people in mariachi Tactical gear burst in and secure the candy.

    Even though the soft armor will stop a 12ga slug, Im not sure if you would want to be alive after getting hit in the chest with a slug. You will probably end up having a chest full of broken ribs, due to the sheer amount of concentrated force, and thats if youre lucky.
    Ouch.

      Realistically, speaking as someone who has taken hits while wearing body armour and as a TEMS medic, the kinetic transfer is less damaging than people might think. Don't get me wrong, wearing this armour and being hit as shown it's about a 50/50 chance you'll die from significant internal injuries (and you're going to have some serious bruising and probable fractures at best), but if I were treating an officer in this situation I'd be more concerned about spalling fragment penetration of blood vessels and such than the kinetic transfer. Personally, I've got a wife and kids, so I wear armour. Even if it is only a fraction of a percent increase in my chances of survival it's worth it to make sure my daughters keep their daddy.

    Even if you were wearing soft armor and you took a slug to the chest you still run a very high risk of death due to either heart attack, if it hits you in the right spot, or internal bleeding. Although, I'm sure it is better than being hit with a slug when you are not wearing the soft armor!

    • @Maniac742
      @Maniac742 Před 9 lety

      Buffman I still like their plates more than anyone else's. I'd just buy level III though. IIIA won't stop enough to justify the added mobility. I can take the added weight for rifle round protection. Not sure about side plates, though. My frame is pretty thin. Side plates would probably be more a hindrance than help.

    • @nateo200
      @nateo200 Před 9 lety +2

      Buffman Its not designed to stop SS190 because SS190 is MIL/LEO only and designed to puncture soft armor and be closer to .223, the fact that this stops regular 5.7 is just a bonus. And no they are not afraid to show what their armor can't stop, they T&E this stuff out to major CZcams channels left and right and tell them to have at it unlike some companies that dictate what you can and can't do.

    • @BuffRANGE
      @BuffRANGE Před 9 lety +1

      nateo200 SS190 is still only around 2000 fps from the Pistol. I was just joshing them cause I sent them those rounds for them to mess with. I've done T&E for AR500, and yes they aren't afraid of us torturing their stuff :D

    What you should do is somehow put some animal ribs where the humans ribs are in the ballistic gel and then put that back up I've been curious to see if or how many runs would be broken considering that's a 1 ounce slug

  • @minicoopertn

    With the slug you are going to have broken ribs. There is also a SMALL possibility of stopping the heart with blunt force trauma although small.

  • @floppinfish
    @floppinfish Před 4 lety +2

    Your not getting up after that 12g slug even with the armor. Your in for some serious injuries and pain.

  • @Maniac742
    @Maniac742 Před 9 lety

    Once again, no armor piercing or high velocity ammo tested out of the FiveSeveN. We already know that these rounds are not going to penetrate soft body armor. They aren't meant to. They're specifically listed as non-armor piercing. Try some EA, R&R, or SS190 ammunition that's already known to penetrate level IIIA. Of course, you'd never show us anything you KNOW is going to go right through your armor.

  • @marinell06
