This is such a good episode. Michael is such a good salesman here and you slowly realise how he was making a great case for himself and Dunder Mifflin without Jan even noticing. Michael jokes a lot but when push comes to shove he lands the client. Then you also get your first glimpse into Threat Level Midnight, the best movie in history!
I love it because it finally explains why Michael still has a job 😂

🌟✨ Michael's prowess as a salesman was kinda explained to us in season 1, episode 6 when they let us know Michael specifically got promoted to manager because he was such a good salesman. Remember when Jan told him he can pick out an incentive prize for the person who has the best numbers, (he chooses the Starbucks coffee maker) and Michael asks if that includes someone who was so good at sales that he was promoted to manager, and Jan replies, no you're not eligible Michael, and he says, oh I didn't mean me! 😂 But yes, Michael is a great salesman.✨🌟

Michael being a super good salesman is one of my favourite things about him. it explains perfectly how he is able to get to the position he's in currently. prior to this, you really have to suspend your belief because honestly you have to wonder how he is even able to do anything 😭

A lot of people have said, "How can such an incompetent guy become a manager?" without realizing that Michael is an EXCEPTIONAL salesman and because of that, the Company thought that would translate into a good manager. They were wrong.
My favorite part is when Michael prevents Jan from saying something by shushing her discretely. In sales, you can talk too much after the close. Michael knows this; Jan doesn't.
This is actually a neat glimpse into something that gets expanded on a bit more as the show goes on. Michael can actually be a pretty good salesman when it comes down to it. But he’s really not all that suited to the manager position. It’s theorized the only reason he got promoted was because he was such a good salesman.
I'm not saying this the absolute best episode BUT this episode IS the one that got me on the official HYPE train for this series. Big moments for multiple story lines in this episode.
I like to summarize my man Primate's reactions to the office thus far as 70% is him cringing or trying not to cringe himself out of existence; 20% is him laughing nervously to relieve himself of the cringe; and the last 10% is him genuinely laughing and enjoying the show. And despite how uncomfortable the show can be at times, you can't look away from it. It's like some horrific car crash and you are rubbernecking in horror lol

Without going too far into it but I work for the banks. It is crazy how often people like the more laid back approach. Not so much personal lol but just acting like a normal person at a professional job helps a ton. I have saved myself infinite headaches by giving bad news as just a normal person instead talking PR.

I see the office all as one continuous episode/story….like l.o.t.r. was as a movie, in the end there’s no point in having a favorite….in seasons 1-3 the only episodes I dislike are the ones that don’t forward the story, & to the best of my memory’s ability there is only one episode that doesn’t do that. Anyway, I love ur channel & office reactions…thank u, sir.
