Udzungwa i Dolina Kilombero

„Polska pomoc”, w szczególności za pośrednictwem Ambasady RP w Dar es Salaam, wspiera działania na rzecz ochrony bioróżnorodności w okolicach Doliny Kilombero oraz polepszania warunków życia tamtejszych społeczności już od 2020 r. Środki pochodzące z „Polskiej pomocy” przeznaczane były dotychczas m.in. na rozbudowę ogrodzeń z uli, solarnych lamp stroboskopowych czy z metalowych blaszek chroniących uprawy rolne przed wtargnięciami słoni. Dofinansowaliśmy też prowadzenie programu edukacyjnego dla dzieci i dorosłych nt. koegzystencji ludzi i słoni, rozwój pszczelarstwa oraz zakładanie grup oszczędnościowo-pożyczkowych wzmacniających przedsiębiorczość mieszkańców regionu. W 2023 r. „Polska pomoc” po raz pierwszy zaangażowała swoje środki także w szkolenie przewodników terenowych w Parku Narodowym Gór Udzungwa oraz wsparła władze tego parku w oczyszczeniu pierwszego długodystansowego szlaku turystycznego.
"Polish Aid", in particular through the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam, has been supporting activities aimed at protecting biodiversity in the Kilombero Valley area and improving the living conditions of local communities since 2020. So far Polish Aid funds have been used among others for the expansion of beehive fences, fences with strobe lamps powered by solar energy as well as metal stripes fences protecting agricultural crops against elephant intrusions. We have also been co-financing an educational program on the coexistence of people and elephants, the development of beekeeping and the establishment of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) strengthening the entrepreneurship of the region's inhabitants. In 2023, for the first time, Polish Aid also committed its resources to train field guides in the Udzungwa Mountains National Park and support the authorities of the park to clear the first long-distance tourist trail.
