President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. delivers his departure statement at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City on 10 April 2024 as he embarks on an Official Visit to Washington D.C., United States of America (U.S.A.) to participate in the first Trilateral United States-Japan-Philippines Leaders’ Summit.
The inaugural Trilateral Leaders’ Summit, scheduled on 11 April 2024 in Washington D.C., aims to reaffirm the enduring alliance and bolster the partnership among the three (3) countries. This collaborative effort underscores shared values, interests and a steadfast commitment to further promote peace and security in the Indo-Pacific Region.
President Marcos Jr., together with U.S. President Joseph Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, will convene to discuss a wide array of topics including economic security, clean energy initiatives and people-to-people ties. The Summit is anticipated to foster deeper cooperation across various sectors to enhance regional stability and prosperity.
At the forefront of the discussions will be the common vision for the Indo-Pacific Region,
focusing on inclusive economic growth, technological advancements, climate change mitigation and regional security. The leaders are expected to issue a Joint Vision Statement outlining shared principles and cooperative endeavors to address common challenges effectively.
In addition to the trilateral meeting, the Chief Executive is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Biden and participate in a forum with business leaders. These engagements aim to reinforce existing partnerships and explore avenues for collaboration across various sectors.
As the Philippines, United States and Japan come together for this landmark Summit, it signals a collective commitment to uphold peace and security in the Indo-Pacific Region. The trilateral partnership reflects a shared vision for a prosperous future, underpinned by mutual respect, dialogue and cooperation.
