What exactly did you mean by you "were brainwashed by western propaganda"? You actually didn´t point out anything so it would be nice if you could explain what you meant.
Just because you can have a lovely time in China as a Tourist (or as a local) does not mean everything is fine with Chinas polistics.
The fact that China is supporting authoritarian regimes everywhere is not propaganda, it is the reality. Ask people in Venezuela.

I am originally from India and had some preconceived notions about China before visiting. I had mostly heard negative things about the country and its people. However, my visit to Yangzhou and Shanghai in 2017 completely changed my perspective. China is far ahead of much of the world, almost like they are living in the future. The Chinese people are shy but incredibly helpful. The only challenge I faced was the lack of access to Google and other American-based services. Most of the cities are exceptionally clean, well-organized, and, most importantly, everyone follows the laws set by the authorities. We need to learn so manything from chinese. ENjoy your time there.

A lot of western internet companies such as google refused to follow Chinese regulations and exit Chinese market. I think that it is really good for Chinese people and westerners so that Chinese can enjoy their peaceful life and westerners are protected from being attacked by the angry Chinese for western’s smearing their beloved country in such a bad way.

The infrastructure of China is new and impressive. Almost every tourist falls in love with what they saw in China. If you live there, the story will be different, which is why so many Chinese still try to immigrate other countries legally or illegally no matter whether they are rich or they are poor.

I was there for a few years and ended up marrying one - together for 12 years now - mainly in New Zealand but we go back a lot. The Chinese people are a welcome change from the much more reserved Kiwis.

Jiuzhaigou is a half-day drive from Chengdu. It has beautiful scenery. In the 1980s, it was listed as a representative of China's beautiful scenery along with Guilin. Later, it was inexplicably replaced by Zhangjiajie. There is also the ancient town of Moxi磨西, which is half a day's drive from Chengdu. It is located at the foot of Mount Gongga, 7,500 meters high, and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains. There are magnificent glacier landscapes, alpine primeval forests, and countless hot spring hotels nearby, which has a high tourism value.

Thank you 🙏🏻 many countries now can visit China for 14 days without visa. You can check online the requirements based on your nationality

Regarding visas, I think you'd better check online, because the situation in each country is different.
Regarding vegetarians, China's vegetarian culture is actually better than that in the West. You can check the vegetarian restaurants in local cities when you plan to go to China. Moreover, most restaurants in China will provide certain vegetarian options. As long as you enter the restaurant and tell the waiter or chef that you are a vegetarian, they will give you corresponding suggestions. And if they can't provide it, they will tell you directly. Remember the following Chinese characters, you can print them out or take a photo and save it on your mobile phone, and then show them directly to the restaurant waiter. 我是素食者,有适合我吃的东西吗?(I am a vegetarian, are there any dishes suitable for me?)

China literally the most beautiful country and beautiful people. Once you shake off the indoctrination you've been fed you quickly realise what your country is missing. I part live in China.

Very authentic Chengdu, but you basically go to the tourist spots that foreign tourists visit. The best thing about Chengdu is the surrounding countryside and pastoral areas, and these places are basically unknown to foreigners. There is a more beautiful natural world, traditional rural farming, more enthusiastic people and the best local traditional food.

man, frankly all the spots you visited are for tourists, the foods, goods and people you met are almost tourists from other parts of china, we local people seldom go there. you can try joining the locals for breakfast, play a round of mahjong, or relax in a tea house to truly understand the neighborhood. Also DuJiangyan and Ya'an panda house and Bifengxia (where the panda house is inside) are there to be explored.

China has been making remarkable progress in all realm of its development over the last 20 years. I went there in 1997 for the first time and I witnessed the amazing changes of the country, the quality of life, very much improved in people's standard of living and also the people are continuously educated by the government even in social etiquette etc. It is now a super safe country to travel and to live, affordable and with higher quality of life than the western countries. I noticed the people are happy and they enjoy family gathering on the weekends, going out etc... It is super amazing to have made all these achievement to improve the quality of life of its people in such a short time. From extreme poverty to catching up and surpassing the quality of life of the western world. So when my friends still tells me people are oppressed in China and it is a communist country... I wish they would get out from the home and travel a bit more before they buy into the stories what their media sold them...
