What a change of scenery!! I understand why you thought you had picked the wrong spot…..touristy looking, really beautiful, but still “local touches”. The shopping looked great. I would have have wanted more time with the treasures from the ocean (shells, etc.). The people seem soo friendly and very happy to see you. I’m sure your gorgeous smile won them over. I am so amazed at how many people speak good English! I look forward to your next visit to another island off the coast of Kenya.
Haha yes, I thought of you immediately when I saw the shells! The people in Kenya are very friendly and English is their second language. It definitely was a treat to be able to have conversations one on one. Shela and Malindi are definitely destinations for people wanting some relaxing beach life and still have the options of having a little adventure. The dhow boats were a huge highlight in my trip ⛵️
