2020 Haibike FLYON Review a Super Ebike - NDURO 10.0 £7999

- My review of the Haibike Flyon NDURO 10.0, a super powerful, high tech ebike.
Haibike sponsored the trip to the Megavalanche and provided the bikes to ride, so I've added that this is a Paid Promotion, however, the review content was not in any way influenced by Haibike. This is my honest opinion of the bike after riding it a few days in the South of France Alps.
Haibike FLYON NDURO 10.0 Stats:
- Price £7999
- Travel 180F 180R
- Motor TQ120 rated at 120Nm torque
- Battery 630Wh
One thing I forgot to mention was the 10 Amp charger. It charges the bike CRAZY fast, around an hour too full. That made such a difference to the riding experience. The EXTREME mode uses the battery quick! So it's great to be able to charge the bike back up in such a rapid time.

Hey all - hope you enjoy the vid. Had a great time filming this! Let me know if you have any questions or comments BELOW :-)
Love the drone footage!
what abouth a reveiw of the rocky mountain powerplay?
Awesome footage and feedback. Would love to know how it compares to the M1 Spitzing!
I love that it *only costs* what I just paid for a used Mazda Miata in spiff condition, from the original owner, and with only 25K on it... 😒
i just bought the haibike flyon 5 allmtn xduro nduro and after only a month it starting to creak from the crank and the spokes are loose from e-bikeshop.co.uk and they refusing to pick up the bike or pay for shipping cost to fix it.
Been waiting on this review a long time. 👍
While an eMTB is out of reach for me at the moment, I wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos. The drone footage in particular really gives a cinematic, professional look that you just don't get from other reviews. Excellent job all around.
Been waiting a few months now for next years bikes, I think this video has just made my mind up. Cracking bike........cracking video
Great stuff!
All mountain 5 on order for Nov’19 - size XL - ordered in March - i am sticking with it lol - great video Rob
Cool! Enjoy, its a wait but that looks like a great bike.
Damn, I was hoping the review would be a little disappointing. Now I want this bike even more!
Hi Rob I love your reviews. You have been a big help in deciding what e bike to purchase thanks heaps. Andre from NZ
Awesome Rob. Your best review yet mate...What a machine!!
Thanks SO MUCH for all your help with this!
I had Flyon AllMtn 5.0 on order but gave up after last delay and opted for Turbo Levo Comp as my first ebike. I’m loving the bike. Great review Rob but gut feel tells me I made the right call. Keep up the great work.
Great job on the review and edit Rob, that Flyon was next level! So fun filming you smashing down the trails on it, I know it’s not for everyone but it truly is a unique offering in the current emtb market and will put a big smile on owners faces!😀👌
Agree -its a bike that is not for everyone, but the ebike world needs stuff like this, innovation... Helps drive the entire industry forward.. Thanks for all your help with the shooting!
Just had my first day with flyon allmtn 8. Was great fun and kept up with a road bike for 8 miles until he turned off. I then went off on trails and still smiling now. Ps cracking tubes Rob keep up the good work.
Rob, your video skills are better and better! great video and first impressions! keep it up! :)
Dominik Stec cheers dude 👍
Simply put, another great quality, informative video. Well done Rob....
Thanks Philip, I enjoy creating these vids. Glad you like 😊
Always good reviews. Thanks!
Thanks Hasse
A few things put me off this bike but the main ones are the price, the weight, the big display and only a 630 wH battery. It sounds great at first but needs a larger capacity battery to cope with the extra weight and more power. At 630 wH it probably won't go much further than a Levo with a 500 wH battery. Good review by the way but you need a long term test on British soil.
The bike that brought me to your channel last summer :) They should have announced it this summer cause now it feels like old news and it still didn't hit the stores, they killed most of the excitement with such a long delay and many interesting new bikes came out in the mean time. But yeah, great job with the review and so many beautiful scenes!
It’s still an exciting bike, riding it feels like nothing else
@@RobRidesEMTB I'm sure it does, especially that one, I meant in terms of news that it's not as exciting as it was last summer when it was announced. This delay cost them many potential buyers who were excited to get Flyon's but couldn't wait this long. I was one of them so it's a bit frustrating. But I guess they'll find new buyers without a problem :)
Wowzers that is heavy, didn't expect that. Great video as always.
I got the AllMtn 10.0 for my 50th birthday, really great to ride.Really flattens out the hills.
Yeah, fair enough, I actually predicted it would go there on the eebometer, even without being sponsored by Haibike, so fair play Rob, that's spot on👍. Interesting bike but not the b all and end all. And yes totally agree all mountain with its tighter maneuverability may be a more attractive option, all round.
Hey Rob, really love your channel! Great reviews with lots of detail, honest opinions that really help making a purchase decision and of course... great bikes 😊. I think you'll crack the 100k pretty soon.
Great, thanks a lot Rob. Now I have to get one. Super review, keep it up.
Cheers John, you’ll love it!
he keeps making us buying those bikes, and, as i am, spend two weeks alone with those bikes !, in the mountains ! stop it !
@@pizzagorgonzola send me one i'm frm algeria and i love bikes , but they are expensive in my country , thank you
I would really like to see you review the M1 Spitzing Evolution - same TQ motor, similar weight, more battery capacity... any chance you will do one in the future?
Love my M1 Spitzing. I have a feeling that the Haibike has better frame geometry handling and more technology overall. However it's going to be hard to beat the M1 when it comes to range, gearing, proven durability and perhaps comfort. I have ridden the hell out of mine for 2 or 3 years now w/ zero probs. I own a spare battery and I actually strap that to an attached seat post rack for epic Journeys that have become some of my favorite memories... that ability will continue to be an M1 superiority
I know it's an older video but my first time seeing it and its an excellent video, very well done.
Thank you very much!
I love this bike ❤️
Huge screen ... No
Integrated Lights ... No
Plug Ugly Styling ... No
Motor with 50% more torque but battery with only 630wh ... No
60+ ibs ... duh .. .NO
£8000 .. No
So guess it is a No from me.
(this the English version of a „review“ that I wrote for another yt video in German, and these are the only two, I do not intend to spam every FLYON video and I am not sponsored nor affiliated with Storck bikes :))
I recently tested the Haibike FLYON NDURO 10.0 myself and would like to describe my impression. At first and in the next few moments, the powerful engine is impressive. The bike actually only really interested me because of the 120 Nm. I am currently using a Storck Adrenic Platinum and would like to switch to an E-MTB, just as background information.
The positive aspects of the Haibike are quickly explained: very strong motor (which still has no competition), quite a good integration of elements such as the lighting system and good to very good components. Negative aspects: the software tuning of the engine is far from ideal (very rough „launch“ in high and extreme mode, def. not as they describe on their homepage pointing out the ABS like sensors etc. ), requires a much better tuning in my opinion; the bike is relatively heavy with 27 kg or rather towards 28 kg, and I significantly noticed that on the trail - especially with curvy downhills you need a lot of „body“ power to keep the bike on the trail; and finally - the longer I drove - the big display / headlight "block" disturbed me, because for an E-MTB I,don’t see the point in forcing the biker to buy such a huge display and light - it should be optional. And I‘m saying this ALTHOUGH I also like to ride in the dark. Of course, other manufacturers also still have to find good solutions to install suitable connection points on the battery, which are then compatible with powerful LED headlights and so on..-
Conclusion: I already wanted to order the Haibike (specifically the AllMtn 10.0 - as it has components that are very well put together for my purpose). Didn't do it because of the test drive. But they do convincing advertising for their FLYONs, and for many bikers it will be the right thing.
I decided to wait for the Storck e: drenic GTQ:
ebike-mtb.com/storck-edrenic-gtq-vorgestellt/
List price the same, but probably 23 kg, wireless circuit, quite possibly better software (talked to the lead engineer about it) and they an extensive and long experience with carbon frames.
So, ePerformance, yes, but performance is not only measured in Nm, although it is for sure appealing. With a high powered motor, the soft- and hardware have to be perfectly balanced and executed. That is far more important to me as a sportive user than an integrated light and a large display. (if I want a large display for tracking, mapping etc. I buy one specific for my needs; no way I would put a second large display on the bar)
" very strong motor (which still has no competition". Unless I am mistaken the BBSHD, in it's basic configuration, has 160nm torque. Isn't that competition?
I really like the innovation and integration of the FLYON bikes. I was going to wait for the ALLMTN version but when the launch date kept going back and back I just bought a Levo. Glad I did because the ALLMTN is not much lighter than the NDURO?
Zero point in comparing this bike with a Levo so I suppose that little section was purely to show just how much more powerful the TQ motor is than the Brose. (well it was a sponsored test so fair enough) But, unless TQ has managed to develop a much more efficient motor, which I doubt, then using all that power will really slash the battery life. Not something you mentioned in the vid. If you turn down the assistance to make the battery last longer then you have all that extra weight to drag up the hills.
Seems to me that Lapierre / HB have gone for the extremes of the market with the eZesty and the FLYON bikes. I think that a lot of people will just go for middle ground bikes instead?
How loud is the motor?
How powerful, smooth and progressive are the brakes.
How long does the battery last if you are powering up hills so quickly. This may be faster than the Brose engined bikes but if it only goes half the distance it is a poor trade off.
Why is it 28 kg? Other carbon bikes with the same suspension weigh 5 or 6 kg less. Is this all in the engine?
Motor + Noisy in top modes, still noisy on mid modes, Bosch kinda levels... Battery can be destroyed quickly in Extreme mode, but similar to others in the lower down modes. I think we are at a stage where battery energy draw / software is comparable now between brands... Just the TQ120 Motor has an extra couple of modes 'On Top' of the others for crazy power..
Brakes - Magura MT7's were excellent. If I could choose any, these could be the ones I buy.
Weight: TQ Motor is 1.1KG more than others... Battery... Lights... screen... beefed up frame, chain rings etc. All add up..
Thank you for the review! I;ve been waiting for this for a while.. Exciting tmes now and it seems the EMTB market is exploding as more manufactueres are getting into the game. I want ot get one but may wait till 2020 snce there are so many new models with increased range and performance being offered... Thanks again
The question is... Would you buy one? Would you replace your levo with Flyon?
I want a Levo 2019
These are 2 complete different bikes, I guess you will break your levo frame in 2 pieces when riding that stuff the Nduro Flyon is made for. On the other hand its heavy as fuck and not even close to the agility of the levo. If you like light bikes for trail riding or trialsy stuff then you go for the Levo or the 2020 focus Jam2 with the shortest chainstays ever on an e-bike. If you wanna hit the big stuff than you go for the flyon with its Downhill geometry and the heavy weight its gonna down the track like a tank:-)
What? The Trails he has ridden are doable on a normal trailbike.
And If you go to really alpine trail chances are that there are lifts- so the heavy Hibike is just unneccesary
@@raupenimmersatt6906 If you say so.
Very super cool 😮💪maybe in the future I buy it ❤
My dream bike.Great review mate
Hey Rob Rides Emtb! Thanks for the effort required to get that review out so fast! Flyon looks like a fantastic system! The power and torque could be advantageous to larger riders like myself! Here in the rainforests of southern British Columbia Canada 3/4 of the year is monsoon season so I'm concerned about the air vents and passageways for the intube battery cooling getting clogged with mud! I wonder how easy they will be too clean? Can you ask the Haibike dudes about that? I'm more of a function before form guy so I prefer external battery bikes! Ride ride ride!
Epic video mate, thanks for sharing
Lovely machine, but it raises the question: at what point does a really powerful, super long travel, massively heavy emtb become an electric motorcycle with pedals? At what point does pedal assist start to become rider power replacement? We aren’t close yet, I don’t think, but this bike is a good sized step in that direction. What about an emtb with 150 Nm of torque, 3.5” tires, 200mm of travel that weighs around 38 kilos with extremely nice pedals? Just askin’.
Nice Video. I think you made Haibike really happy. Because of your nice scenery!👍 Did the Display disturb in the dark? Your a lucky man to test this bike right know. All the others have to wait until october or even later.
Didn’t notice it really. Only to look down and see I was going at 70Kmh on the road down a steep hill haha
Great video..well done Rob, keep it up...
At last a proper review on the flyon nice one rob looks a wicked bike bit worried about the weight in the winter for the really step descents 😬
Great video Rob, thanks!
Looks like an absolutely fantastic bike & not to bad a price with all that spec 👍
Brilliant video and very informative, thanks
Thanks 😊
i have enough problems with my chain and cassette with a 90nm motor, on a Levo, with the current drivetrain 120nm just would not work, how did they solve this on the Flyon ? i would like to know how it does after 1000km
pizzagorgonzola
So using a Rohloff hub makes sense.
@@maxsolo2652 yeah probably, except its a bit heavy, and, expensive ? ebikes definitely need a new type of drivetrain
Hi there I find a heavy duty chains fine on a 750w try to find a chain
Upper quadrant on the EEBOMETER isn’t it not triangle?
Another thoroughly enjoyable watch thanks Rob honest enough to let us see the wipeouts as well as all the fun bits.
I wish I could ride up chairlift stairs like that 😆 and surprise the missus in the bedroom!
Actually that wasn't me riding the steps, that was Piers - who runs HDCM, the Haibike Design Centre. Great rider!
Great video Rob! Very capable, powerful bike. The price and the weight put me off though. I have to lift my bike over a gate to ride my local trails. My "acoustic" bike is around half the weight of the Haibike lol...most e-mtbikes are around 20-23kg which I imagine I could handle better.
I have the 2019 Expert Levo, and even that is a game-changer for avid riders. You just can't get enough rides on them. I also have the Turbo Raod bike which is also very fun and great to ride to work!
Got one on order!
Hi Rob this looks good I’ve currently got my eyes on a 2020 Merida 9000,but this looks interesting as I will be using more so in winter ❄️ months so lighting seems a good idea
That light is epic. Could ride pitch black trails,.
can't wait for the 20.0
Great video. You should try and get your hands on that Luna X-1. Would love to see how that compares to some of the fancier European brands.
I wish more e-bikes were available as a frame only option
Maybe one day we’ll get it.
True. Be nice to build up exactly what your want. In the meantime get the lowest spec that has frame, motor, battery u want. Strip off all the shit and put your own fork shocks, wheels, bars, groupset.
Hi Rob sorry I'm late to the party with this one but I've just bought the allmtn 5.0 flyon. How did you find the battery on this epic ride you did? I'm just concerned its gonna eat batteries to quick? Just wondering how u found it?
Great videos by the way.
Great Test Rob. Best tester ever !The Allmountain „was“ my choice. But to heavy, to expensive. It will be shipped around october. But there are a lot of better 2020 bikes out there!
“ But there are a lot of better 2020 bikes out there!”
Please help me finding the best one, it’s going to be my first ebike.

Great video. Just ordered the all mountain 3.0 and hoping it’s a decent bike

Work hard save up and prove that old codger wrong.
Great job as always Rob, and while the Flyon is not for me, I can appreciate what an incredible piece of engineering it is. As I’m currently researching for my first ever ebike (bring it on haters), I’m keen for your potential thoughts on the following. As I’m down in Australia a hell of a long way away from anywhere, I’m airing on the side of caution and choosing from one of the few bikes that has a decent dealer network coverage down this way. This has me narrowing the choice down to a Turbo Levo Expert, or the new Merida 10K, and with this I’m curious if you have plans to test a 10K anytime soon? As you‘re obviously a big fan of the Levo (for good reason), I’d be keen to see your comparison between these two bikes.
What a second, 2020 Haibike? Wasn't the Haibike introduced at Eurobike 2018? Haibike still hasn't delivered any FlyOn bikes, at least not in Germany. So is the 2020 FlyOn the same as the 2019 line-up? What happened?
Very interesting. I didn't see the Flyon motor in your latest evaluation. I am attracted to this tech, but it is 2022 soon 2023 and I wonder if there is better outthere now. What do you advise?
great review
Thanks 👍
Thanks for this Rob, love the videos and this bike. I have around 8K to spend and this bike is the top of my list - is there anything else I should consider that competes with this bike?
M1 Spitzing Evolution
@@TheTeophilus Many thanks - will take a look
Hi. Like the stuff you are doing Rob! I would be likely to pre-order a Flyon but perhaps not a 10.0. Just a bit uncertain to place my money against an unstable delivery timescale. Did Haibike mention if the dates are a little firmer Rob?
PS isn’t the 10 amp quick charger an optional extra?
Thanks for the good review! Is the motor uncoupled whilst it is disengaged/off? Do you notice much of a resistance when riding without the motor switched on and the final question, what is the transition like once you've reached and surpassed the 25km/h limit - does it cut off smoothly or abruptly?
Yes, I couldn’t notice any resistance and it’s very smooth transition.
Great video!!
I'm going to wait a couple of more years before I can get one. Prices may go down some and hopefully more of your average automobile drivers may make a change to commute to work which can make it more fun, get some exercise and less traffic congestion.
I had one and sold it straight away crap components crap computer ,heavy as a house , crap geometry, test ride one first
And don't try wheelie the sensors in the rear disc put a stop to it
Have you tested the Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay? How does it compare? Thanks Rob
Video has been sped up for effect? Light ebikes good downhill. Heavy ebikes with big motor good climbers.

Hey Rob, Are there any noticeable differences between the Nduro 10.0 and the AllMtn 10.0? Coming from a Levo Comp. Thanks.
Any idea why we can't get this in the USA yet? Been so long...... Problems with them?
It must be a production issue? Just can't make enough? Woild love to demo one!
Acabo de ver una en persona en un escaparate a la venta,, unos 9.000€...pero estaría dispuesto a comprarla si los tuviese a mi alcance!! Una auténtica belleza
Hasn't this bike been on pre-order for about 12 months now?
Nice video for sure, but those tyres can offer only so much traction. When the weight factor increases, the reserve traction for handling severe situations decreases.
thanks for the infomercial
What camera did you use for first person footage?
Nice review. Will check it out when and if Flyon ever gets to the US.
Is there any chance of you getting a Fezzari Wire Peak to review?
I think they are changing your laws so the bike has to be coal powered.
@@julianshepherd2038 With the new PM, Newcastle could have a renaissance too. ;-)
Try the M1 Spitzing Evolution. Same motor, better battery.
And you can bring a spare battery with you I do it often
Hey Bud, Love your channel. I just ordered a YT Decoy Pro Race. This bike was on the try list but At $12,000 I didnt even test it, I was afraid to like it.LOL Do you think the E8000 motor is underpowered? 70nm vs 120nm what a difference
No, E8000 is a very good motor.
Hi rob, when you have to choose between the Haibik or the kenevo witch one are you gone pick ??
Hi Rob great video, scenery looked outstanding, I have an all mountain 8 flyon on order in size large and I’m 6’1 just hoping I haven’t made a mistake and should of ordered the XL .What size did you ride and how tall are you would be interested to hear your views.
Richard Marsh oh man I'm envious, you made a great choice. I'm 6'0 and would probably go with an XL as well.
I'm sure a large will be plenty big enough for you and it should be a little but lighter than the XL. Enjoy it and have fun. I'd love to try one out.
I'm 6ft and went with the XL.. it's the perfect size for me
u forgot the most important things can be used as a tent suport because u will need it after u sell the apartament to buy it .
Whats about the Headset/Steuersatz, its internally blocked that the handlebars can't turn around to much.
You had some nice crashes with that bike, so how did it feel to you when such a force gets stopped on such a small spot that is pressed into a carbon frame?
I'm worried that, on the crashs I have sometimes, the headtube just brakes apart on the force generated by the handlebars levering against the 28kg of the bike at high speed.
On my actual bikes the handlebar can turn more then 180 degrees and get stopped by the cables in a smooth way:-)
You mentioned the e-motor speed limit but missed to say what happens around this threshold. Does it do the janking? Completely stopping at the speed. You can't hold the speed you fall under the speed limit. Motor kicks in. You get over the speed limit motors stops again. And so on? Or did they found a better way?
Hi Rob. I like the idea of getting an EMTB from one of the British companies. You going to get the change to review the orange charge/surge or the new whyte ebikes?
Possibly :-) I'm open to all bikes..
Can you organise a head-to-head comparison with the M1 Spitzing Evolution before the year ends please ?
I’ve the xduro nduro 2016, i’ m curious to try this new top model. It’s like another world?
Hi Rob I have this bike but how about the battery range 630 wh is very less in to this bike ?
Nice to see you on some proper trails Rob away from those bike parks and Swinley Forest. You will never look back...
I agree with Banditbanger13. Can we have a review of this up against the M1 Spitzing whi h has the same motor.
I own an M1 and would be interested to know if it was any better....
I wonder how much the M1-Sporttecknick bikes weigh. They have had this motor for probably 5 years now. They have recently had an upgrade with an internal battery of up to 1050Wh. Their site is very hard to navigate because it keeps reverting to Deutsch.
28kg just makes it a forget it bike. I had a 25kg bike & that was hefty clambering over turnstiles etc. Levo at 22kg is nearly at the sweet spot for me of 20kg for an optimum ebike. I'm able to lift the bike easy even when I've been hammering it all over. Its a mountain bike, why the rear lights? Screen pointless a distraction, check strava after if you are bothered.
thanks rob i would like the more power as i am a big guy at 17 stone and over 50 now but still like smashing it up all over Europe and the uk i dont think the new 75 nm is not enough now on the new bocsh i am coming of a old levo .
For bigger folks this would be the dream... has loads of power.
Hey Rob, how does the Motor react to Pedal input? Is there a delay between the point where you push the pedal and the point where the motor engages?
I hate this on my Bosch motor and on the Brose from my wifes Kenevo too. Its super annoying when trying to get up to your bike again in steep sections and of course when doing wheelies. I've never riden the Shimano Motor, but so far for me the Yamaha motor is the only one that respond fast enough to pedal input.
Cheers mate
What years Kenovo is that ? 2019 Levo engages immediately, very noticeable on a steep climb, and there is a setting for that
@@pizzagorgonzola Thats very interesting. Its a 2018 Kenevo. Theres a different Motor and battery in the 2019 Levos than in the 2018/19 Kenevos.
Whats that setting you talked about called?
The Brose motor is very nice, but I prefer the noisy very "unsmooth" Yamaha Pw-X because of the fucking delayed engagement.
@@Dietahvr it's called "Acceleration Response" it can be seen on the second screenshot for the Mission Control app on Apple's App Store apps.apple.com/us/app/specialized-mission-control/id1420151502
Pretty much instant. Like the Brose Mag S on the levo.
@@2011buddylee The 2019 Levos have almost completly different Motors and Software. They have a ton of different settings in the App that are not available for the Kenevos.

Does the anti theft and the auto contact included in any flyon model or is it an extra?
Spitzing M1 have TQ with 1050Wh 5 Years, not new.
Very very nice review , I was looking for a review like this for long time . To be honest is missing only one thing : how is the endurance vs a Bosch cx 500 using a similar level of assistance as a Turbo for Bosch ? Because I know already that the max assistance and full 120nm will drain the battery faster then a Turbo with 75nm. I want to be sure that the endurance with similar usage like Turbo Bosch CX is not worst. If a medium assistance is similar to the new Turbo Bosch 2020 with 625 battery then this bike will be mine .
I’d say on Medium mode (I’d say this is in between Trail and Turbo on Brose) then battery levels will be in a similar range to other brands. Think of the Extreme mode as another huge power levels on top of existing motors, and everything lower than that an equivalent, with similar draw on battery energy.
@@RobRidesEMTB This bike is really more useful in high slopes climb ? Or the more power, don't need it.
