Thinking of starting a production company and am super inspired by your work, thanks for sharing your knowledge with us fr. A video discussing how you pitched these videos to a small local business and how to convince them its worth the investment would be legendary. Keep making art my dude!
Hey man! That sounds awesome dude! I’ll definitely make something on working with small businesses. Really appreciate the kind words and best odds luck on your production company ventures!
Hey there, or as we say in these here parts, bonjour. Just a comment to say I appreciated the algorithm blindly throwing this video my way -- because sound design is now the step I'm at in my own videomaking evolution. And the stuff you showed really reinforced the spatial immediacy it brings, and makes me want to work harder at it... So, your video and approach were well appreciated. Thanks.
Loved it Your timelines looks so similar to mine, a similar project and a similar sound design, thanks for the boost, I was going a lil soft on it, as it has been weeks im on to it
This video qas actually really informative and definitely was helpful, you mentioned you have a folder full of SFX you have found through the years. I would love to get my hands on them as i cant create my iwn sfx or but them
Thanks man! If I figure out a way maybe I’ll release that sometime. In the meantime don’t be afraid to use your phone microphone! The voice memo app works just as well as my h4n
Amazing project, I’d like to know why did you choose to do the interview in a CU for this project? And also, for the hockey project choosing that wide with a lot of head space. Thanks
Means a lot brother! Both decisions were mainly made for creative purposes haha. The tight in this interview was to relate to the intimate story he’s telling. Then the wide interview in the hockey doc was to show more of the locker room and draw the eye toward the “family” sign in the back. Plus I just liked how they looked. Sorta just felt right if that makes sense. Thanks again dude!
For a lot of the SFX I was using a reverb effect to make it feel a bit farther away. Sometimes sounds can feel fake if they are super clean when you record them. For the VO I did a small bit of EQ but other than that just mixed the levels to hit around -12dB. Same for the music. I’m not the best sound mixer but hope that helps!
Not really! Mainly the color grade features, some luts and effects. I used the free version for a while before buying Studio. I will say Studio is worth it though
I recently stumbled upon your channel and I'm interested in learning how to share my project with a colourist who is not located in the same country as me using DaVinci Resolve. You mentioned this before and I would appreciate it if you could do a video on this. how to export and receive the project.
Solid breakdown fam! Much appreciated!
Yessir thank you!

Can you share how you treated the audio. How did you approach the voice-over to background music?

Hi there! Do you have a tutorial how you color grade your footages?
Hey! Just posted one this week. I may do another more in depth in the future!
is there a huge difference in davinci resolve studio vs the paid version?
Not really! Mainly the color grade features, some luts and effects. I used the free version for a while before buying Studio. I will say Studio is worth it though

Absolutely man! Short answer is if your colorist had a drive w/ footage just send them the project file. If not just send them a pro res 4444 export!
