- If you have a tractor on your homestead or if you are planning on getting a tractor at some point, consider these 3 tire configurations for your tractor. They can help with tractor function and with safety.
Here is the link to the valve extensions I mention in the video: amzn.to/2MrSCej

Good advice. We actually snapped a valve stem on the rear tire while brush hogging (actually land clearing where we shouldn't have been using a brush hog), guessing a branch or small stump caught it. Stem was on the inside of the rim, I was quite surprised when it happened.
We had foam filled tires at the recycling plant I worked at. We'd have broken glass and pieces of metal sticking out of the tires but they were fine. Couldn't kill them but the ride was a little stiffer.
the simplest and best way I deal with valve stems weather a tractor, skidder, skid steer, don't mater if the stem is on the in side or out, it is going to get hit, even on lawn tractors, I cut peace's of pipe, depending on rim size, say 2" pipe I shape one end to fit the rim and put 3 tack welds 1/2" long on the pipe to the rim, it will never brake off, if you can weld, (no more then 3 very short welds) with 7018 rod, this protects the stem, and don't interfere in putting air in or servicing.. paint after, the pipe just need to be 1/2" past the end of the stem, on skidders I weld a nut to the side of the top end of the pipe and cut a round plate to cap off the top open end with a short bolt
We use beet juice here where i'm at in Michigan, never had a problem
The beginning of this video had some cool transitions and POVs!
Thank you Sir!
Great info! Thank you.
You should do a video on types of tires, like turf tires, ag tires, etc. and kinda explain what tire would be best for what you will be using your tractor for. Thanks and nice video.
love the tractor videos. I have 2015 kioti CK35. Will be making my stance wider. Good info
1:44 don't forget to mark the outside where the valve stem is, you don't have to, but if you want to air things up it makes life, ... easier.
Maybe have a video on using chains. Different types of chains, when to use chain, etc.
I never knew a tractor could have more than one tire setup.
On a subcompact i recomend adding waigt to the wheels not 3pt......the axles arnt made for extra waight on them but on the tire itself is not as bad
Here in jacksonburg W.V you normally need the wider stance, however on my kubota i set mine inas close as i could get them for mowing and/or gardening.
As for loading the tires i used antifreeze i collected from local garages that has been used, and the reason is its not nearly as corrosive as the windshield washer fluid.
You got the safe antifreeze mixed up. Its the reverse. propylene glycol antifreeze is animal friendly. Enjoyed the video though. :)
Methanol solves all those issues. Can also we reused.
I’ve wondered about added stress on the rear end when spreading the tires out from the factory setting. Anyone have experience with that? Tim
not a problem, they are made for that as he said, mind you it needs to be a quilty tractor, not a toy tractor
I do not like the R4 tires at all, I like the R-1 or R-2 tires but great Videos
i am an equipment tech when you flip front tires around for wider width on the front axle you are putting alot of stress on the wheel brngs and hubs and damage can occur bearing and seal failure thats what i see when people flip front tires around just an observation i see in the shop
I did have to replace my right front axle last year. Did a bunch of dirt moving over the years with the front bucket.
I don’t think I’m going to add any liquid or foam to my tractor tires. #1 if it ain’t broke I don’t need to fix it. I think if I add ballast it would in bolden me to get into trouble 🤠..
If you get a minute can you tell us about the light bar on your R o p s? I’m looking for additional lights for my tractor... thanks
No doubt. Over confidence is a killer! The light bar is just suspended by zip ties now. Trying to get the brackets welded.
Warning: Flipping wheels can overstress the axle and housing. I've seen dealers refuse warranty service on flipped wheels.
But you can buy wheel spacers from dealers lol
When you turn your wheel around did it change the tread direction?
Don't just turn them. move them to the opposite side.
Ethylene glycol, car antifreeze, is toxic, propylene glycol is used in food processing(like immersion freezing chicken) because of it's low toxicity.
