  • This is part two of a five-part video series of building a model railroad from start to finish. This video series is intended to be a tutorial on various techniques. Part two demonstrates track wiring for DCC. It also shows the first steps in track weathering.

    Great instructional videos! I'm just getting started and I'm designing my work bench with a multi-track test and program deck like you made here. I was thinking of putting a double pole switch on the section of track I am going to use for programing. In one position it will be wired for programming, the other would be for regular DCC operation. I'll have that section of track isolated. Thoughts? Am I on the right 'track'? See what I did there? lol. My wife doesn't think I"m funny either. Thanks for sharing - quite the project 🤠

      Hi Steve - Yes, I think you can get away with putting a double pole switch for your programming track as long as (as you have stated) it is electrically isolated.

    At 21:05 it looks like the feeder wire pulled away from the rail. You may want to edit the video for future viewers. Thank you for doing these tutorials, they are excellent for new modelers or even a regular modeler looking to learn new techniques or soldering.
