I recently totalled my car in an accident. Turns out its one of the best thing that happened to me since I was "forced" to ride my bike to work. I don't miss the car at all. It is very liberating. Love the videos.
Am buying an ebike and trailer next month. Super excited to be getting back on a bike after about a decade of not. No car, just public transit. I hate relying on that tho. I can't wait to be self sufficient again! ✌😎
Yeah good advice all around. I like all of the no nonsense choices at your shop. You would be shocked at the “pro” advice being dispensed at some bike shops here in the DC burbs. Most bike shops are way too sport focused. Getting more people to bike to the coffee shop two miles away should be the first pitch.
Unfortunately it is the US bike market and what bike "enthusiasts" are supporting. I could launch a bike shop and ecommerce shop focused on gravel biking and slay it but that isn't going to change the world for my kids..

I was going to add light last since I wasnt really going to ride that late at night, but you made a good point about “being seen” and I already bought stuff to show off like reflective tape so why not lights? Awesome pointers. Thanks!
Arlene, So glad that I happened upon your website! Just bought a good ebike yesterday, as, at 71, it was time, especially with the easy to ride choice I made. Realized that a step through was going to be a “necessary luxury,” as dismounting from my old bike had gotten a little shaky. ‘looking forward to catching up on your posts. This one had some good perspectives even for someone who has ridden for awhile.

Do you have a recommendation for carrying steel toed boots, a hammer, some other small tools, a couple days of clothes and food (I'm a truck driver, bike commuting to work. Usually home daily, but I have to pack for emergencies)? Right now I use a back packers back pack, but it's kind of uncomfortable, and sometimes weight shifts all over which makes it a bit of a safety issue on busy 2 lane roads. It's an 11 mile ride.
Sometimes the safe trails are not close, must load the bikes on the car. Can't leave the car at home if you don't have them near by, especially with kiddos. I am an adult and to get the miles in, it is a must to load and go.
got a cargo bike ...never opened the box ... disabled lady I bought it for died before I got a chance to park her transport chair on it and travel the parks..
When financial collapse comes, do you thing bike and e-bikes will be in high demand? Do you think e-bike sale will increase a lot? I know covid19 does keep bike shops very busy as more people are biking for many reasons. How about bike turn signals for accessories, cool idea lol.
