  • In the winter we travel by train across the famous Albula line from St. Moritz to Chur. Since 2008 the Albula line belongs, just like the Bernina line, to the UNESCO World Heritage. In part two you travel from Bergün over the famous Landwasser viaduct to Chur, the capital city of canton of Grisons.

Excellent video! We rode the St. Moritz - Chur line in 2007, but from a passenger car all you really see is the scenery. As a former railroad conductor, this video allowed me to observe the right-of-way, track layout, signals, switches and all the infrastructure that allows trains to operate with minimal delays and at reasonable speeds.

Some one complained about that wiper being in the way. Actually the wiper gives a good point of foreground reference. Also, it is far enough off to the right to not spoil the view.

Question; I noticed, what seems to be an excessive number of apartment dwellings, Vs. private homes. Is there a reason for this?

I'd prefer to sit in the cab for this trip, rather than a first-class all-food-and-drink-provided luxury seat. (who gives a toss about the wiper with a front-row seat like that)

Was knallt da immer im Maschinenraum?

No the Rhaetian Railway is openend voor 365 days.
Apart from the massive tourist the have everyday. The railway is still very important for the local people.
So they will do everything to make sure trains keep rolling.
Only when the avalanche warings are to high the train schedule will be delayed.
