In our second episode, Editor in Chief of Rolling Stone AU/NZ, Poppy Reid, reads from Rod Yates’ 2016 cover feature on Amity Affliction 'The End of Heartache', a revealing deep dive into frontman Joel Birch’s journey with addiction and recovery.. She then sits down with the band’s Ahren Stringer to discuss what it was like for the band seven years ago when Birch had hit rock bottom, how the Amity Affliction has changed since then, and why he’s not a fan of the album the band were promoting at the time.

Watching this is 2024 after Ahren was taken off of the tour 💔
I hope hes able to recover.
This Could Be Heartbreak is still my favorite TAA album. Perfect album, no skips. Sad to know that recording it was a low point for the band.
“A lot of the songs were too.. happy.” 😝 This coming from the band I have to take breaks from listening to, due to the gloom that comes along with their music. I love TAA, but so true for me.
Just caught a live show on Sunday tho! Took me back, it’s been about 10yrs. CRAZY they’re still killing it. Glad to hear Joe’s in a much better place now. Been there as well, even recently. Looking forward to the upswing again
But he’s right. TCBHB sounds super funny. Except dark lyrics
It’s not my favorite album but I do really enjoy This could be heartbreak. I remember hearing it for the first time and I was hyped. I can’t wait to see TAA again oneday.
TAA’S without a doubt one of my favourite bands if not my favourite. Fricking amazing 🖤
Dan is THE MAN!
Btw… best host that actually ask good questions we all wish we could ask!!
I love the contrast between the pop punk sound and intense vocals.
40:29 I was at that slovakian show and it was fucking awesome! 300 people in the middle of the field / middle of the day doing a circle pit to amity :) once in a lifetime thing :D
Beautiful read of an excellent feature, and what an incredibly open and genuine conversation too!
Love this
"Fuck you, Ed Sheeran" 🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻
Yes, we support you and your band, Ahren. I saw you at Melb a few weeks ago and I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing you again at Frankston for the "country" tour. 😁👍🏻 Keep being awesome! 👌🤘
been around since 2008, newest album has been my favorite since severed ties!
Its like part of my life like back in the days me with the guitar 🎸 too lol
She literally read the whole article out loud for 30 minutes 😂😂😂
Ugh and the way she read it reminds me of 5th grade when we had to read textbooks out loud.
The amity affliction gets me through life especially the good and bad I just wish they would play closer to where I live like la crosse or neillsville
Misery was one of there best albums!.
The end of heartache is a kse songs
