  • In this video, I'll share my experience with pelvic organ prolapse and my journey to address it. I'll discuss the symptoms I experienced, the conservative treatment methods I tried, and ultimately the decision to undergo prolapse surgery.
    Pelvic organ prolapse is a condition that occurs when the muscles and tissues that support the pelvic organs weaken or become damaged, causing the organs to drop down into the vaginal canal. For me, this manifested as pelvic pressure, discomfort, and visible protrusion from the vaginal opening.
    I tried several conservative treatment methods, such as pelvic floor exercises and lifestyle changes, but unfortunately, they didn't provide the relief I needed. After consulting with my healthcare professional, I proceeded with prolapse surgery.
    I'll be sharing my experience of the surgery, the recovery process, and my progress so far. I'll also provide an update on the specific surgical techniques and technologies used to treat my pelvic organ prolapse.
    If you or a loved one is experiencing symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse, this video will provide valuable insight and understanding of what to expect. I hope my story will help others going through similar experiences.
    I am not a medical professional, and this video should not be used to solve anyone else's medical problems or issues.

    As a retired Nurse can I please add a little extra info. I had a hysterectomy when I was 37 and ovaries taken a year later. I thought i was fantastic as it solved a lot of issues I was having and it did. HOWEVER LONG TERM as I am now in my 60s there are things I should have looked into for the after care. I was put on HRT. Make sure it is enough to take care of your heart and bones. I found the patches better for my mood. Make sure you take VIT D and enough of it and Vit K2 to absorb the Vit D into your bones. I ended up with bad arthritis and Im sure it could have been possibly been avoided or minimised if I had known better. Ask your doc if its ok to take these vitamins of course. Dry eyes and vagina are also an issue so make sure you take otc pessaries to keep your vagina healthy as the walls get thinner quicker and cystoceles and rectoceles more prevalent. Take fish/cod liver oil to keep your eyes moist. These are all the symptoms of menopause and are a natural process but if you have a hysterectomy with or without removal of your ovaries you are depleting your body of oestrogen and its just being aware and keeping your body better for longer. Early hysterectomy just means your body is living without these hormones for longer so your body needs a little help. When your young you never notice but unfortunately it catches up. We can now live longer because of these interventions but to live better we need to be aware of the long term affects of menopause and induced early menopause. Its just knowing and doing something about it early enough. Hope this wasn’t to much like a lecture and its helpful.

    Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this video! I have put off prolapse surgery for appx 10 years- I'm 39 years old now, and it's severe enough that I HAVE to have it. I've had so much anxiety about this! I'm having the hysterectomy, uterine prolapse, bladder sling, and rectal prolapse repair. Oh, and throw a hernia or two in there... 😂😂 But, I too, have regular hot flashes for the last 2 years- they say it could be due to pain and other issues inside. I'm so nervous, but finding this video- with your beautiful smile, and genuine happiness with your decision- really helps ease my anxiety! Now I'm thinking of documenting my journey as well. Again- thank you so much for sharing, and helping this random stranger! ❤❤❤❤

    Thank you so much for your video. I appreciate it. I am stage one prolapse, post Hyster. This prolpase occurred after the last ovary was removed. I was told that I did not need any mesh blah blah because I was young but the Doctor was wrong. That surgeon was not the best doctor, but it has already happened so.... I feel so emotional about it. I want to cry, but it is getting better. I have found a Specialist Urologist in my country, thank God, because some of the Gynecologists were telling me a lot of nonsense. Girl I cried so much. Thank goodness I did not listen to them and went to a Doctor of Physiotherapy and did some pelvic floor therapy. I have made up my mind to get the surgery by age 50 if not before, I am 46. It has been about 18 months since diagnosis.

    Thanks so much for sharing. I went through the same journey three years ago and then just a week and a half ago which was three years and four days apart. I had to go back in and have a mesh repair for my prolapse. It’s nice to know that other women are experiencing the same thing the first surgery. I was like you after a couple of days I felt better and I just didn’t like anything around on my stomach! But this time I feel like I’ve had a vaginal tuck almost like a tummy tuck and it’s like I’ve given birth to another baby, but I came home from the hospital with no baby! The pain is still hard and painful, but I’m only what a week and four days postop. But due to my age being 54 I’m gonna have to take these entire six weeks of recovery seriously no lifting and moderate but doable slight walking so that I don’t potentially develop blood clots in my legs! That’s however, is hopefully the last surgery that I have like this but for ladies who have had the previous hysterectomy with the prolapse please no heavy lifting don’t do anything that’s going to strain your abdominal area. Otherwise you’ll be back in the hospital three years four days later for a repair. Thanks for sharing your experience in your channel.

    Hello Victoria,
    1st of all, my deepest condolences on the loss of your dad.
    Secondly, thank you for this video - it was short but too the point. I am facing this surgery in 5 weeks for not just a prolapse but also a “repair” to my anterior vaginal wall for a bladder prolapse (cystocele). All this is supposedly going to be vaginal only - no lower abdominal incision nor laparoscopic (no Davinci), although I’m game for anything as long as it’s successful.
    I’m absolutely horrified that I have to undergo this mess to the point that I want to cry on one hand, scream on the other hand, and if I had a third hand, I’d just hold onto my terror with it.
    You look absolutely stunning and I’m happy that one year later, you have zero regrets. I am just hoping for no complications and an uneventful surgery and recovery. My ovaries/tubes were already removed in my early 40’s, so this will be my uterus and cervix getting evicted during this round.
    I literally make myself sick even thinking about it. This floors me since my career is in ancillary healthcare whereby I have taken care of patients for decades. *sigh*

      My surgeon made me aware of the statistics of mesh, so I had reservations initially. But I still decided to do it, and I've felt great ever since, almost a year and half later. I would suggest seeing your OB/GYN and getting a referral, because you can't be seen (for my doctor) without one. My urogynecologist is affiliated with the hospital I gave birth at here in Delaware.

    Hi just came across your video. I am 2 1/2 weeks post prolapse surgery also bladder lift/rectocele repair with perineum repair also..It was stage 3 to 4 he did everything vaginally..I ended up getting external hemorrhoids, so sitting is quite uncomfortable 🥴 on hydrocortisone cream,
    never had hemorrhoids, not even after my children were born..wondering if this is normal and when the heck will they go away😫 it’s been about seven days maybe 8-9 days I’ve been on rx.cream .that’s the only thing that has me uncomfortable and the stitches that are internal from the perineum repair. Other than that I feel good. I am a little intimidated when it will come time for intimacy no mesh also attached to my sacral ligaments lived with this prolapse for about three years. It was terrible especially towards the last few months. Thank you for your story. It gives me hope that I will be normal again.❤️❤️🙏

    I’m 32 and have a grade 1 rectocele and cystocele and a grade 2 uterine prolapse. I went to a urogynecologist and he told me he doesn’t use the mesh because it’s banned now. That now they use something different that is supposed to be like skin and eventually your own skin cells will convert it. He also explained to me that since I’m young he doesn’t feel like having a hysterectomy would be right for me.
    I’m still trying to decide. I’m scared to be honest of having such a serious surgery. I’ve been doing pelvic floor therapy but haven’t had any positive outcome yet.
    How are you doing now after your surgery? Do you exercise normally? Like lifting, running, jumping? Did you do any kind of pelvic floor therapy?
    Sorry for all the questions, it’s so hard finding someone (especially around my age) that has dealt with this.

    • @VictoriaVaden
      @VictoriaVaden  Před rokem +3

      I heard the same about mesh and my doctor gave me the same information, statistics, and likelihood. I'm amazing. I would do the surgery 10 times again, if I had to.
      I [usually] work out 4-5 times a week at a gym that's more intense than the Y, but not as insane as crossfit. So, I could be (on the treadmill) running 1/2 - 1 mile to sometimes doing a run on an incline, then immediately switching to the rower and then weight floor. I never did pelvic floor therapy, because I was past the point of no return. Whenever I tried to do a Kegel, it felt like a broken scale (if that makes sense).
      But in all honesty, the only reason I remember I even had surgery or the issue is because I still have the tiny incision marks on my stomach that healed, but are still visible. And my kids like to point them out lol.
      However, I've heard it works well for others. What has your doctor said? What did he/she suggest?

    I do not want the mesh in my research I believe they can use tissue from my thigh when they sew everything back in place.

      @hadyrodriguez3663 Před rokem

      Thank you so much for replying. My surgery is next Monday May 1st. I guess I am scared of the possible complications. As of right now my only 2 bothersome symptoms are not being able to have a complete bowel movement and having to splint due to severe constipation; and the bulge in the vagina from the rectocele which is not too bad anymore. I am afraid to make things worse for me. Specifically, having painful sex which I don’t have now or urinary incontinence which I also don’t have at all. Or the mesh erosion possibility. These complications scare me .
      In a case like mine where I do have stage 3 prolapses and bowel symptoms yet I am still afraid of the surgery,
      Would you mind telling me why you feel it was the best decision for you? So sorry to continue to bother you but I do not have anyone in my circle that has been though this and can guide me. I am as you said, terrified

    • @VictoriaVaden
      @VictoriaVaden  Před rokem +1

      Oh wow, that's soon! But also exciting, a little, right? What was your initial reason for getting the surgery done? That's what I had to keep reminding myself of before going in to outweigh my scares. And (for me) it took a LOT of prayer to calm my nerves. I didn't have a proper bowel movement before this surgery...it was more like rabbit pellets, and I cried a lot just going to the bathroom (for #1 and #2). I discussed sex in this video, but it all comes down to communication and trying new things. The old positions I favored are more painful for me now, so we do different positions. To be honest (I think I mentioned it in this video), every time feels like the first time (for me), but again, the beauty in that is that you get to experience love in a new way (sounds corny, but it's true). Because I couldn't go to the bathroom properly and constantly experienced incontinence. There was a smell associated with stage 3 for me, and at the stage prolapse that I was in, I knew things would only get worse as I aged because that's just what happens (to some people). None of that was worth me going the rest of my life living with, which was why I decided to make the decision and why it's still the best decision for me because I don't have to deal with it anymore. And the added benefit of no more birth control, no periods, and no hot flashes (since I had them before surgery).
