Thanks for taking time with the box. When they posted the teaser images, it blew me away how they swapped out their figures for the suits, and how perfectly they recreated the box art from that tape we watched over and over again. Great review!

Good news is two years later at the Neca's are flowing through gamestop's and Walmart's with surprisingly frequent restocks
Absolutely amazing masterpieces. Right down to the packaging. Worth every penny.
The playmates version looks cartoony compared to these NECAs.
I remember the old toys that wrre made for the movies. They were much more accurate than the playmates ones. Remember those? They were kinda rubbery and more bendy than the usual plastic ones and really looked close to the films. Especially for the time back in the 90s for something youd buy at toys r us.
The 1/4 scale are without a doubt the definitive versions of the movie Turtles. Cloth bandana tails, way more skin texturing details..and more of an epic shelf presence. These definitely take 2nd place though. But I think nothing beats last year's animated Turtles set.
Great review, you're definitely lucky to have gotten ahold of those. As a side note, I love that not only do you have a VHS to compare, but it's still shrink-wrapped. So cool.

These are great, but the 1/4 scale versions will always be THE set when it comes to the 90's movie Turtles. I like these 6" figures, but a lot of detail is lost with them. The 1/4 scale versions look and feel remarkably lifelike. With the larger figures, the various paint details have room to blend in and look great. On the 6" figures (notably the heads) most of that looks like they ate messy food and didn't wipe their faces off, especially on Raph. Also, Donnie having an incomplete belt is a huge concern for me.
I like these figures, and I'm glad they exist (even though NECA made getting them a pain in the ass for real collectors and gave them to scalpers on a silver platter), but I'll be sticking with the 1/4 scale line. They just dropped dime on the Foot Soldier, and Shredder should be at least unveiled by the end of this month.
It seems like the only thing lost in scaling these down is that the quarter scale figs have this awesome scaly/bumpy skin. Those scales & bumps are barely visible on these 6 inch versions.
After so long...now only I'm getting this awesome figure and I'm so happy with it !

I always preferred Pizza Primitive Structure over Tile Game Pizza tbh. ;) lol Great review of these awesome figures. My jaw would have dropped if I saw figures like this as a kid lol.

and they broke at some joints and the plastic smells really ugly. Please

I too have wondered why they didn't still use cloth fabric for the bandanas, ribbon fabric for the back of the bandolier strap of the Donatello figure's belt to hold the bo staff, and didn't give the back of the Michelangelo figure's belt open slots to hold the nunchakus. How hard could it have been?
In my opinion I like these turtles better then Michael Bay's Turtles

I always like the original figures that came out for the movie, the ones that had rubber arms and legs, I thought those looked really good for the time, not much articulation, but still.

I'm wondering why I got the SDCC box today on ebay for EUR 88,- (about USD 97) - more than 1 year after the video. It was the last available out of 20 and the seller has a good feedback rating. Has the SDCC box been produced again?

Neca make some awesome stuff but their 1/4 scaled need to come with stands. These 7 inches arent to bad but the 1/4 scales have given me headaches.

Good review. Although shutting down the 1/4 scale isn't true for everyone. Both have their place and I am a fan of both. For my more favourite characters, I'd like both. Although for me, the 1/4 scale should always have a huge step up in detail. Although sadly it's not always the case.
OMG this set is perfect!!! I saw the Bigger sized versions of the 1990 movie turtles and while they look awesome I wanted something smaller. How much is this???

i do wish neca toys do the tmnt from 2003 series, that was my favorite series of the turtles when i was a kid

I doubt Playmates feels ashamed of their product vs Neca's: Playmates makes toys for KIDS, whereas Neca makes toys for COLLECTORS. Different price points too. The extra detailing, paint apps, sculpting, articulation, etc. are also something that Neca is known for - Playmates, not so much. I'd love to have a set of these but until China makes knock offs of them, I'm perfectly happy with my Playmates versions.

optibotimus because some people prefer the new looking turtles and others like the older looking turtles put them together and everyone dreams would come true because ever since the new movies came out my first thought was imagine if the old ones and the new ones met
