I have always been a RWH guy, since the 70s. My son is 1 year sober today. Im so proud of him. Jim I hope you are still around and healthy. Thank God for Ray and guys like you.
Thanks Jan and Robin for bringing on RWH, the best Texas singer-songwriter ever. I didn't know he was sober, but it's inspiring to hear what he went through.
Dear Ray and Judy, I'm the early 90s I was working at Food Lion when y'all came through my checkout line. I was pretty sure it was you Ray, but waited to see Judy sign the check, "Judy Hubbard". At that point, I couldn't help myself and told you that you are a living legend etc. The funny thing was, I guess Judy didn't know it! I was maybe 20 years old and very impressed. Y'all are so sincerely kind people. Very nice to me and I followed several of your shows. Always thrilled about the artistry, but also happy about being included as a fan. It was a great time. Anyway, I believe y'all are kind and gracious people and y'all are loved. Sincerely, Brad Kelly
Met him and his band at a meeting in Spring, Texas, and the year before we were partying...big changes in a year. I never did quit until 5 years ago and thank God every dy and night for it.
Wow that’s something , Ray said back in the day something like the day music stopped was when Johnny Cash got sober 😂😂 I’m happy for you my friend but I guess I will never meet you at a meeting, those meetings drive me to drink lol 😂😂 Much respect my friend, we have all come along way since the bar in Red River 👍👍👍 and thanks to you and Judy putting up with these air heads 👍👍👍✊✊✊
Wow how cool to hear from someone who is so well respected by the very best songwriters around? I’m somewhat bitter about how I was duped into and totally fell for the sex drugs n rock n roll thing, which started out on the softer stuff listening to the Grateful Dead but soon ended up with me doing the same thing that took many greats such as Janis, Gram Parsons, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley I could go on forever🙄 Anyway having just returned from a four day holding with my extended family celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary I found that just being around good people who don’t even smoke cigarettes, had a good effect on me, which shows that bad association really does spoil useful habits and that good association makes one want to be like them also. As they were all drinking wine throughout the night and yet never having too much I did really well since the difference between me and them is how I still can’t understand why they can enjoy the process of drinking wine as opposed to how my instinct is still to carry on and drink for the effects🤔

This is amazing. I was at the concert in maryville tn 2 days ago and had no idea. My first beer was a miller in 1980 in ElPaso tx. Been a hard road ever since
Your comments about God and having fun are spot on😂 Way I see it is even the Bible doesn’t condemn wine or drinking but as if often the case with everything is that too much of something is rarely good? The minute it’s starts to effect someone’s judgement or physical health is our way of being sure that God would not approve? I think it’s important to be aware of other people’s drinking status and their beliefs since I don’t think anyone would want to be responsible for making someone stumble and those who don’t share such a basic care for their fellow neighbour are perhaps not worth knowing imo.
$100. A ticket. I guess I can't afford to recover. I'll keep on loving Ray though no matter what. The fact that all this is so alien to these ladies is very comical.
I personally don't trust anyone that doesn't like Ray Wylie Hubbard...
Yea your rite, RWH is the man
What a beautiful man. Gods speed brother by Big Jonathon. This man helps /keeps millions goin on.
Love Ray for years so glad he got his life straighten out. God Bless.

Such an honor to interview this legend.
Let's not forget Judy too.She deserves lots of credit. It would be like Jerry Jeff without Susan. Both of those guys would be playing for beers.
Great interview! I got clean / sober in Nashville 07/03/1989, by the Grace of God. Thanks for sharing this. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I hope it's OK to make light of a dark situation, but this might make a great SNL PBS skit!
Thank You so much ... 25 days sober today...
Wow. I got 13 years myself .

I love Ray Wylie. What the heck have you ladies never heard of him??? Damn! I’d be embarrassed.
incredible interview!
Excellent interview. Thanks!
Thank you.
Had to think about this interview a little bit.
But it's still fun to revisit the crazy every 10 years ok 5 years. ;)

I go along with Travis Smith.Hubbard is the man.
All that talk about sobriety then @25:25 I swear I thought that was a bottle of wine Ray reached over to a swig of when he thought he was off camera!
nice 👌
I went to High School with this cat. He was cool then, but he is way cooler now.
"Stinking Thinking" ☺️

RWH brings the rock.
Spot on about wether he believed in God or not, since he could hardly be expected to have any positive beliefs at such a point
RWH is the greatest.
Well I don't know about him being a cult figure...lol
GOT SICK AND TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED!!! IF A MUSICIAN WANTS TO KNOW HOW WELL THEY CAN REALLY PLAY THEY HAVE TO PLAY SOBER!!!!IMHO
$100. A ticket. I guess I can't afford to recover. I'll keep on loving Ray though no matter what.

I did quite drinking last Sunday. I started drinking again today (Friday). I'm drinking now. I hope it ends soon.
We missed you there.
@@ReadinginRecoverywithJanRobin hopefully I'll run outta beer before I run outta mind.
$100 a ticket I spend $50 plus on piss a night that sounds cheap as chips but sobriety can keep 12 steps away from me
And I agree interviewers are cringe
Nice 👍
