Victor Wright, Erma could certainly hit some impressive high notes but I don`t think she could reach Aretha`s highest notes. Well I`ll say I`ve never heard her .
Erma was a very good singer, a more grittier voice than Aretha.. She should have had better rec.contracts and promotion. Check her out, big boss man, piece of my heart etcetera. Soul gems!
Yes, Aretha gave a FREE Concert at, of all places, The Kennedy Center-where she had received Honor years prior. This was the evening before the Inauguration. The lines outside the Center to get tickets, I'm told, were SEA deep!! Since you were talking about apparrel, I'm reminded of the yellow gown Aretha wore when she sang at Clinton's evening Gala. Ya know how Aretha likes to show cleavage. However, she looked absolutely STUNNING in that gorgeous gown!! It's the Best I've seen her wear.
@@cortney4soul this old lady Cleopatra always got something negative to say about Aretha, she claims she is a voice coach and a register nurse,if she is a voice coach I say she needs to get a recording contract and try to do what Aretha did,I bet she wouldn’t sell but two records period
Aretha Franklin had such a Sweet Soft Speaking Voice.❤
Love Aretha and the Franklin Family, CL, Erma, Carolyn, God Bless their Souls and Thank God For Loaning Them To Us, Gone But Never Forgotten !!!!!
Go ‘head sista Erma - reminds me so much of Jamaica & the church I grew up in. Love Queen.
That choir is the BOMB, too! Incredible performance, and cathartic gospel church piece.
That is how a Choir sangs! Wow! Praise Him!
Real down home church gospel. I love it!!! R.I.P. Ms. Franklin. She will be greatly missed.

The Best Organist of All Time
i love her voice during this era
I remember when this was aired on Showtime back in the early 80s. I loved it so very much!🌷🌷what a great show she did!
I believe this was mid 80`s like 1986 or so.

All the best are up there. Rev Nicks, St James choir, Rev Franklin Erma, musicians. I just wish the audience would clap on 2/4 instead of 1/3 lol
AMEN AMEN AMEN
Sang Grandma-Retha!
I had no clue that Irma could sing and hit notes just as high as Aretha

OMG thanks soo much for posting this, I thought I had seen all her videos, I have many many of her pop songs BUT the woman can sang some gospel.
You should listen to her blues album
Yes indeed 2024
that was awesome, i had never seen this before!
The queen could always cut her step
I think that was her sister Erma singing also.

I think it was too.
Did u hear her say "Come on Erma" before she came up on the stage?
...{brother}Rev. Cecil Franklin, and {sister}Erma Franklin!!!
I thought that was Erma! Thanks. Wow, that's good stuff!
I heard her say, "Come on, Erma."
GLORY!!!!!!!
Aretha, bringing the Gospel to the auditorium. When you were not afraid to praise the Lord in any venue. Yes Lord

I believe this video clip is from Aretha's Showtime special in the early ''80s. The woman who gets up on stage with Aretha is her sister Carolyn.
That`s her sister Erma, not Carolyn...
That’s Erma
This was the mid to late 80's.
dropping the mic 🎤
his name is Nick Johnsn
Aretha seemed to be very tired at the end of this show. She did sing a lot of other songs that night as well.
What is the first song she sings here?
Oh, It Is Jesus
Is that bishop Woods on the organ?
Yeah he was St James organist at the time
who's on the piano
Wasn't this concert at the Masonic Temple? Or was it The Music Hall? I forget. :-)
The Music Hall
She must have been having vocal problems in the upper register because she didnt hit one high note in this performance. She let Irma do it.
I think she was including Irma and let her have the big note. Gracious lady, always.
The CHOIR was good and the energy was there but she didnt do much.
You are always complaining about Aretha, but old hag you need to stay in your lane and keep your old ugly mouth shut
She took yo man or something!?? Lol

What was wrong with her sister's voice? Most of what she sang was so slurry it was unintelligible.
